A long silence consumes them && frees them all at once. A moment of clarity to see to it that adequate response might be given in the wake of emotional turmoil. This living being held no hatred nor disdain from one’s own essence. && while she does not particularly favor many in particular, her company is not less than ideal.            “Don’t ask stupid questions.” Certain questions challenge the heart.       {⋅. ϟ .⋅} 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠, coming back from spas and saunas, Yoruichi’s hair is a chaotic mess of expanding humidity despite the towel she wrapped around it.  With exasperated huff the princess sits at her vanity, fingers manipulating strands with the same annoyed candor. It is then that fells a now familiar energy approach, turning to see young Soifon with a brush in her hand and almost beseeching expression. 

     With knowing tilt of the head, Yoruichi would jokingly protest, Soifon would insist, and after a pointed stare, the older would relent with a sigh.

❝ Fine… but don’t make this a regular thing, alright? ❞ Said with stern voice but playful smile. So there they sit, bristles carding through violet tresses. within the soothing lull, Yoruichi looks into the mirror, golden stare drifting forward to the woman she could become. Whoever she may be, Yoruichi would make sure that it was a woman of her making, not one of titles or heritage. Another, albeit thoughtful sigh leaves her, one focused upon a different matter.

❝ Hmm, think I wanna grow my hair out again. What do you think? ❞

Ah, but that was another lifetime. Moments seen through different eyes… 

     They say time heals all wounds, but that’s not necessarily true. If left untreated, time only causes them to fester. And though the bandages are cleaned and taught, the salve of their wounds is only stinging memories of unmarred flesh, and the scars will forever be their reminders. It is a quality that separates them but will continually pull them together. 

     As former mentor returns from heated spa waters, form wrapped in plush robe, hair twisted up in a towel. She must have looked quite the sight, not that it mattered to her in the slightest. Knelling upon tatami mat, she sighs in pulling the cloth from atop her head, letting damp plum locks waterfall down her right shoulder before proceeding to any further drying. 

     But a sharp inhale begs need for her to turn her head to the Reiatsu she senses, familiar, stronger than it once was so many years ago. A faint smile carries with the sentimentality of it; falling into old habits, however Yoruichi would not cast an objection this time around. Tranquil hum of an exhale and she would bow her head as a silent allowance to Soifon’s gesture.

      Silent still as bristles cascade through soft, violet tresses and there comes a wash of nostalgia. One of a little brother but another, more vivid one of a little sister. A smile pulls gently across her lips, inward chuckle at past amusements making the rounds to present events. Piece by piece she unravels memories that spanned the ages and gradually do Yoruichi’s eyes become a bit heavier, beginnings of slipping into that comforting stillness they used to share. Perhaps they could truly mend the wounds they’ve given each other; to end with fading scars along happier memories.

           It’s only a matter of time.
