I got accused of using AI for my writing on my Mutt fic. Again.
Honestly, I'm just tired. It feels like you can't make an editing mistake or repeat yourself a little without someone deciding it must be AI. I've barely been writing lately as it is, and stuff like this just kills any motivation I have left.
I don't even know anymore. Maybe it's better to just scrap Mutt, and this blog at this point.
I think closing this blog to writing and putting Mutt on hiatus is what's best for me right now.
Maybe it's because I use common phrases that have existed in writing forever, and now AI uses them too because it steals from human writers.
I happen to use those same kinds of lines naturally. That's just how I write. Being autistic also means I tend to have speech and writing patterns I return to because they feel right to me.
I've had people say they're going to run my writing through AI. I've had people tell me my art looks AI-generated. My poems have been called AI too.
At some point, it starts to feel like creating anything online comes with the assumption that you're cheating.
It's exhausting. I don't know how you're supposed to share your work when every mistake, every familiar phrase, every stylistic choice gets treated as "proof" instead of just being part of making art.
I'll keep the blog and the fic up, and I'll still reblog art and interact here and there, but I think I'm done being a fanfic writer for the foreseeable future.
I'm exhausted. Getting accused of using AI because my writing has editing mistakes or repeats itself is incredibly discouraging. As an autistic writer, I already struggle enough without constantly feeling like I have to defend my own work.
Maybe someday I'll come back to Mutt, but right now I just don't have it in me.
It’s not even Derek anymore. I’m putting him in a chokehold between my thighs and I’m not letting go. He will die in my grasps. He’s too beautiful. I hate this guy.
Any Love and Deepspace players on this blog watching this whole mess unfold? 😭
I just want my wolf man back, ramblings below
Okay, so I know this isn't really the blog for it, and I'll probably delete this later, but the game I've been playing, Love and Deepspace, has gone through some of the wildest drama I've ever seen a gaming company face.
Here's the thing: I genuinely don't think the company would have canceled Valko if toxic antis hadn't gotten the Chinese government involved. it's a handful of incredibly reckless fans or even a rival company stirring things up, I don't think anyone with common sense would intentionally escalate things to the point where the entire game could be at risk.
And then there are the threats. Employees have been sent cow dung and death threats at the office, and now there are reports that police were called because there may have been someone with a knife near the building. That's way beyond normal fandom drama.
I can absolutely believe there are people who want this game to fail, and I think the company's silence is probably damage control more than anything else. At this point, there may not be much they *can* say while they're trying to navigate everything that's happening.
It really sucks because a lot of international fans are only seeing the lack of communication and assuming it's just bad PR. But from everything that's been happening, this feels like a much bigger crisis behind the scenes than people realize.
Additionally, they've also removed the number tattoos from the boys, which *to me* feels like another damage-control measure. Whether that's due to censorship or an attempt to avoid giving critics more ammunition, it definitely seems like they're being extra cautious.
They also pulled one of the lore stories with the intention of rewriting and updating it later. Between that and the other changes, it's pretty clear the game is already being heavily affected by outside pressure.
The hardest part is that there's such a massive language barrier. Chinese social media that i dont use, so I am often relying on translated screenshots, secondhand information, and fragmented reports. That makes it incredibly difficult to know exactly what's happening.
On top of that, the company can't really speak freely right now. Whether that's because of legal concerns, public pressure, or other restrictions, they're in a position where anything they say could be scrutinized. As frustrating as the silence is, I don't think this is as simple as "the company doesn't care." It seems like there's a lot more happening behind the scenes than international players are able to see.
Another thing that's really stood out to me is the cancellation of events in China. They made it through Anime Expo in the U.S., but canceling events closer to home makes me think the situation there is a lot more serious than many of us realize. If those events were canceled to protect cosplayers, staff, and other workers, then I think that was the right call.
The cancellation of the fan-funded NYC billboard is also encouraging in one way...it shows the company is aware of how much support they're receiving from the fandom, but you can't do that if you arent the company, its encouraging but I saw that getting stopped a mile away. Between that and all the wolf-themed donations and messages of support, I have a hard time believing they don't see how many players are standing behind them. I just imagine they're in a position where they can't publicly say much right now.
More than anything, I think it's important to remember that the safety of the company's employees comes first. Whatever decisions are being made behind the scenes, the developers and staff shouldn't be the targets of harassment or blame.
If anyone deserves criticism, it's the people who escalated a disagreement over a story released back in April into something so much bigger. No game developer or employee deserves threats or to fear for their safety over a work of fiction.
Also, I’m not going to sit here and pretend Infold hasn’t fallen into some of the same problems that many gacha otome games struggle with.
The back-to-back banners, the lack of consistent story updates, the lighting issues affecting darker-skinned MCs, and the main story feeling stagnant while characters like Sylus and Caleb still need more content to catch up with the others, those are all real concerns that players have brought up and they still need to be addressed.
Supporting the game and the developers doesn’t mean ignoring valid criticism. Both things can exist at the same time. Fans can care about the game, the characters, and the employees while also wanting the company to improve.
Right now, though, all we can really do is wait and see what happens next.
Man, sometimes I want to post about my other fandoms on here, but I already know the amount of shit I'd get. God forbid a birdie wants to play horror games and have other interests.
Damn it! Derek really has this blog locked into being a one-fandom blog at this point.
Hello everyone! I've been pretty quiet on the blog lately, so I just wanted to give a little update.
I've been dealing with *a lot* of medical stuff. Nothing life-threatening, thankfully, but it's been doctor appointment after doctor appointment on all of my days off, which has been really draining on top of working a full-time job. Because of that, I honestly haven't written much of anything since April.
I've also been playing a game that I was really enjoying, but unfortunately the community has completely imploded. It's been a mess to watch unfold, and it's definitely been affecting my mood. On top of that, I'm in the middle of switching medications, so it's just been a lot all at once.
So, yeah....the blog is on hiatus for now. I'll still be around to reblog art and answer asks whenever I can, but *Mutt* is on the back burner at the moment. I do still want to finish it, and I haven't given up on it.
Thank you all for sticking around and for I'll see you peeps later. ❤️
Hello!! I've been trying to read your fic, Mutt, but it looks like a giant wall of text gulp. In newer chapters, would it be ok to add spaces between paragraphs? Thanks!
I shall try, I space it in Google docs, but when I copy and paste it into ao3 it looks like that so....meh
