Mystery Girl

He was right, with Trump in power people have become more angry and agitated. Hell she didn’t want to admit it, but it kinda freaked her out. Normally she would turn a blind eye but…that was hot he got the nomination in the first place right? People turning a blind eye.
“I don’t really vote unless it is the presidency,” she admitted. “But…maybe I can vote locally and help you get in? Every vote counts right?”
He smiled, just barely quelling the grin at the electric feeling he got every time someone believed in his vision, whatever version of it he happened to be peddling. “That is absolutely right, Violet. Every vote counts, and that is more true in local elections than anywhere else. But as an elected representative, it is and would be very important to me to understand what sort of vision my constituents have for our community. Maybe you’d let me buy you a coffee sometime and we could talk about yours?”

blackviolets:
“I know not everything is black and white, and I do tend to overthink on every detail. Got that from being the daughter of a shrink,” she looked at him. Maybe this guy wasn’t so bad? His politics was a little off and repetitive but…maybe it came from a right place. “What do you believe? Truly? No bullshit politic talk.”
Something about this girl was entrancing to him and he really, really hoped that one day he would be able to confide in her the full, honest answer to her question. Welcome her into his sacred circle. But for now, he sold a pretty convincing if very watered-down version of his beliefs. “Real talk? I believe this country is at a major turning point. There are a lot of ways it could go, but it sure as hell isn’t gonna be anywhere near the same in a few years. I also believe that way too many people are getting way too fucked over, and historically when that happens in the Western world, there is a lot of blood, one way or the the other. We are not good at solving our problems any other way when it gets this bad. I just want to be ready. I want my community to be ready.”

She looked at him, rethinking what he was saying. True, college in itself was a joke. She was never going to really get far with the English degree she was going for. “In your opinion,” she spoke up. “Do you think people can help change things…but without being really involved in it to the point of it consuming their souls?”
“Help? Sure. I mean, there are a lot of ways to help, technically speaking. But I think if someone wants to have a real impact, it takes conviction, dedication, time and energy.” Kai shrugs and tucks his hands into his pockets now. “I dunno if you’d consider that soul-consuming. I’ve always been a passionate person so I tend to be consumed by whatever it is I set my mind to and I have a hard time imagining being any other way. But you seem... temperate. Prudent. Like if there is a balance, you’d be the girl to find it. Am I wrong?”

“I don’t do the protest thing, but I respect people who do,” Violet shrugged again. Deep down she felt he was just another politician, feeding her what she wanted to hear. She learned a long ago about herself and she rather have someone tell the truth and be honest at what they really were rather then giving her a piece of pure garbage.
She even turned, seeing Leah talk with some guy. Great, that coke whore will leave her in the clutches of some would be politician now that there was an object with a dick talking her up. “It was nice to talk to you Kai but I really need to head back to my dorm.”
“Dorm?” Kai couldn’t help but smirk slightly. “So you’re already on the path then. Do the math sometime. Figure out how long it’s going to take you to pay off your student loans with the projected actual income for your major, not the bullshit numbers your school is feeding you. Factor in living expenses and the frankly criminal interest rates.” He made no motion to stop her, instead casually tucking his arms behind his back, using body language to tell her he’s got no intention of pressuring her into anything. “If you’re not pissed off and ready to do something to change the system, then fair enough and I wish you all the best, from the bottom of my heart, I do. But if you realize you’re just paying your way into modern-day slavery and creating your own disenfranchisement, then maybe I’ll see you around sometime.”
Mystery Girl
blackviolets:
Wow, he really was trying to pull some charm on her? Violet raised a brow at him, crossing her arms slightly.
“I personally find politics to be a joke. Just a bunch of white, middle aged jerkoffs who would suck a guy off for a fucking dollar. Especially in America when we elected a orange idiot that makes Bush look like a golden boy. If you ask me this is just a swing toward the red because we had blue for too long and it’s only a matter of time when it swings back to blue and stupid white inbreds can go back to their trailers and get pissed off.”
“Well, I wouldn’t need to be paid to suck off a guy but I see what you’re getting at.” Edgy chicks like he was pegging Violet for always went for guys who rebelled against heteronormativity. Or so Kai assumed, from the internet and the guys Winter brought home. But even still, it wasn’t entirely a ploy, there was truth to it. “And I think you make a very good point. I think it’s incredibly important for women and young people to get involved, change the world, shape it in our own image. You’ve got the power to change the system, you just need to take the reins.”

Having a shrink for a dad had it’s ups more the downs. At least Violet was able to read all the psychology books her dad have to kill time. She found the mind to be an interesting place, all these disorders and whatnot. She picked up on telling signs just by listening and watching people. Her friend…or rather acquaintance Leah, wanted her to go to this stupid meeting with potential council member Kai Anderson. Why Leah wanted to go see him talk so bad Violet didn’t get it, she didn’t think the other girl was a fan of politics. Still, she was bored and went with her.
She stood there, listening to guy talk…finding it weird a guy with blue hair was even running for office yet here they were. She listened, but not in the way everyone else was. Everyone else looked so…entranced. Violet didn’t see the big deal. But she was sort of curious as to why this guy wanted to run for politics. Then again, this was Trump’s America.
When it was all over, the goal was to leave. At least that was what Violet’s goal was, and was about to tell Leah so. That was when she heard Kai’s voice, smiling at her…something was off about him. She took his hand anyhow, “Violet, just Violet.” She spoke. “I came with a friend, politics is not really my thing.”
“Violet. Hm, it suits you, it really does. Well, Violet, you might not be interested in politics, but bosses are, landlords are, insurance companies are, and every day they use their political interest to make sure you’re entering a world of designed to set you up for indentured servitude. Something about you tells me you’re as smart as you are beautiful, I can’t imagine that’s the kind of world you want to inherit. Is it, Violet?”
Okay, so he stole that idea straight off of Facebook. Or Twitter. Or a tweet he saw on Facebook. But it’s damn good, so it’s his now. And repeating her name like that? Worked on Shawn in Boy Meets World and so far it’s having a surprising success rate in the real world.

It was his fourth underground meeting, fourth official attempt at public recruitment, and Kai was looking forward to it. He learned in college that four is considered an evil, unlucky number in Japan, and he loved that kind of shit. Just like 13, a goddamn number that could get people so riled up they would pretend it didn’t exist in hotels and hospitals. So he was already in a good mood when the evening started, and it only got better as people flocked in to see him.
It went well, he thought. Most of them were eating it up and the ones who weren’t, Kai was content to deem a lost cause and dismiss. All except one. A girl in the back, standing beside a face he recognized from the last gathering. Her eyes struck him even from this distance. She was listening, he could tell that much, and she wasn’t exactly engaged, but she was thinking, at least. In a calm, reserved, measured sort of way that drove him crazy in his favorite way. When his speech (rant, tirade, whatever you wanna call it) came to a close and the cheering and applause died down, he carefully elbowed his right hand man and gestured with a nod of his head. The two of them started toward the back of the room while the converts talked to the newcomers. As he was silently instructed to do, Gary started chatting up the mystery girl’s companion, distracting so Kai could go right in for the prize. “Kai Anderson,” he said with a bright smile, flipping the switch from fear-mongering politician to something a bit more akin to boy-next-door and offering his hand. “You’re new. What is it that brought you here tonight, Miss...?”
((Oof, hard couple days, guys. I’ll be slowly working on muse pages when I feel up for it but I’m here if anyone would like to chat or plot! I would welcome that very much.))
((Started watching AHS season 8!))
