Important conversations at Sugarcube Corner

All the ponies love Pinkie, but she’s definitely got some qualities that the other ponies can’t quite relate to. They don’t MEAN to disparage her interests, of course, they just don’t realize while they’re saying it that it’s something she cares about.

I can imagine after this conversation, Pinkie Pie would be determined to give their friends a good clown time— probably by BEING the clown herself! You can’t get scared if you know it’s just Pinkie, right? I bet she’d put on five or six different clown routines, for each of the mane six and Spike, each with a unique makeup look and silly gags specifically catered to the humor of the pony she’s performing for. By the end of it, she’d surely get her friends to admit the entertainment value of clowning!

We’ve all either GOT that one friend who will write our messages for us with no filter, or we ARE that friend.

I’m glad there are no cell phones in G4 Equestria. We see how it plays out in Pony Life and in G5, and it’s just not entertaining, it feels immediately dated, very “how do you do fellow kids?” and overall poor messaging to give children. I never want to see a canon internet influencer pony again— at least not a MAIN character, good grief!! Because what we need MORE of these days is to encourage kids to go public online 🙄 honestly I’m extremely disappointed Hasbro didn’t take Pipp’s opportunity to be a ROLE MODEL, and to actually teach children about internet SAFETY. Instead it encourages children to become parasocially obsessed with internet personalities via the Pippsqueaks… just really horroble decisions overall for that. But hey at least I have a tiny MLP smartphone now! I may hate it in canon, but boy it’s fun for play. So I’ll take it.

It’s stated that Pinkie Pie from Friendship is Magic has the power to break the fourth wall; she’s aware of the fans, and aware of previous generations’ existence.

We know Pinkie doesn’t always feel like she’s taken seriously by her friends, and for good reason— she often isn’t. G3 Pinkie Pie, however, never had to deal with this worry. All the ponies in her version of Ponyville are about as frivolous with parties as her— and that’s just the way she likes it! So one could reason that, G4 Pinkie, the one who keeps written records on everypony she knows just to throw them perfectly-tailored parties, finds herself missing the camraderie of G3 Ponyville. I’m sure G4 Pinkie wouldn’t trade her life for anything, but everyone has the right to wonder. Wouldn’t it be nice for Pinkie to feel less othered by her pony peers?

This isn’t filmed as smoothly as I’d like but eh consider it proof of concept 😅 I’d rather make it shaky than not at all!

G5 is cute! It certainly struggled for many reasons, one of which being the unexpected studio change for Make Your Mark and Tell Your Tale, but I would be a flat out liar if I said I wasn’t entertained by it. I might not want ponies to always have modern tech, but for what it’s worth, it’s unique and a funny situation to think about a horse using computers.

What do you think of G5? If you’re someone who dislikes it, can you think of a part of it you like? If you love it, what’s a critique you might have?

hey side note why’d they put pepperoni on a my little pony pizza? I know it’s like, The Pizza Topping™, a timeless classic, but like……. these ponies are at least mostly vegetarian. And yet I have MLP pizzas from G3, G4, and G5– and ALL of them have pepperoni on them. Girl???? Why are these horses suddenly carnivorous???? Or do we think it’s a round, flat slice of some other red food? But what could it be, otherwise?? Maybe pizza just awakens the bloodlust in all ponies. I know it has that effect on me

I cannot be convinced that those two crusaders didn’t get into their fair share of physical skirmishes. I’m sure Sweetie Belle would avoid conflict like that, but Scootaloo and Apple Bloom? They’re slingin’ hooves at each other for sure.

Meanwhile, poor Miss Cheerilee is saddled with the task of investigating every playground injury, when no filly ever wants to just give her a straight answer. Scootaloo’s aunts will be receiving a call.

Do y’all think Pipp’s easily influenced by the games she plays? She’s VERY influenced by pony Internet culture, so I wouldn’t put it past her.

I like to headcanon that she has a gamer’s temper, and will scream at her mom if told to pause while on multiplayer. It doesn’t matter if canon indicates otherwise because I know this in my heart to be true

they’re really THE couple ever 🥰

I got this set back when it first released in 2012. I remember there was SO much hype leading up to the Canterlot Wedding. I remember seeing promos for it that made it seem like a fantasy fairytale wedding, but at the end card the screen would crack and Twilight looked shocked, as if stuff was about to go down. And it did. I definitely think this is objectively one of MLP’s signature episodes— timeless and infinitely rewatchable.

I’m thankful to still have my castle set in mostly one piece! It’s missing a flag and one of the pillars, but thankfully it still stands just fine without it. I don’t actually know where Cadance’s necklace comes from…. It was on another Cadance I got in a lot of ponies so I put it on my childhood Cadance, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen it before and the plastic feels different from other pony accessories. I’m super happy to have a necklace for her, though! It sucks that Celestia is the only one to come with one despite not being the only princess to wear one. Luna and Cadance deserve them too!

The Shining Armor in this video is from the set with Chrysalis, which I also got as a kid. The difference between this one and the original one from the castle playset is that this one has painted hooves. I unfortunately no longer have my original Shining Armor but I hope to someday get him back. I have three Cadances, I wouldn’t mind more than one Shining Armor.
