Chimi-Churi-Chori: Los Perros Locos WTF is a Colombian hot dog? I'm still not really sure, but it was pretty great. Los Perros Locos in the lower east side of NYC serves up hot dogs with a Colombian flair. I went with the Chimi-Churi-Chori, a chorizo dog topped with grilled provoleta, chimichurri sauce, aji panca aioli, and crushed up potato chips, served on a crispy toasted bun. The hot dog was juicy and the sauces gave it a pretty unique flavor. The crunched up potato chips were also a nice touch. I also made sure to add a side of Salchipapas (waffle fries covered in a creamy salsa verde and crunchy chopped hot dog pieces) and a Colombian cream soda. All in all it was a pretty satisfying meal, my only complaint was that it was slightly pricy, but that is kind of expected from a place in Manhattan. ITALIAN HOT DOG: JOHNNY & HANGES Johnny & Hanges of Fairlawn, N.J. Is another well known North Jersey Texas Weiner spot. Established in 1939, Johnny & Hanges is known for their dogs "all the way". I was more impressed with the Italian hot dog. First of all it's gigantic. They put it on a sub roll and load it with grilled peppers, onions, and potatoes. It almost looks ridiculous side by side with one of their normal hot dogs. The potatoes are great and they really pack them on. This thing is a meal all to itself and it was definitely a struggle to get through the second hot dog!

TEXAS WEINER “ALL THE WAY”: LIBBY’S LUNCH Northern New Jersey has so many “Texas Weiner” joints it’s mind boggling. You’re also liable to get into a fist fight with someone over which is the best one, so I’m not gonna pick a winner, but just post about all the great ones I go to. Most of these places have been around since the dawn of time. Libby’s has been around since 1936 right by the “Great Falls” of Paterson NJ. Libby’s has a great old school vibe, they serve diner type food at really cheap prices. Like all Texas Weiner spots it’s a good idea to get your hot dog “all the way”, mustard, raw onions, and chili sauce. I really enjoyed Libby’s chili sauce, and the hot dogs had a crisp snap. Libby’s is a great spot with a lot of character at the historic Paterson falls.

TRIPLE CROWN SANDWICH: BALTIMORE ORIOLES This is a pretty wild dog that you can get at the Jack Daniels BBQ stand at Orioles stadium Camden Yards. The triple crown consists of an esskay hotdog topped with pulled pork and BBQ sauce and a thick slice of bacon. My heart probably stopped at least twice eating this, and I had to listen to my girlfriend make fun of me for breaking a sweat while sitting and eating, but it was a pretty good dog. Camden yards has a lot of great food options and this is definitely one of them, but if you are looking for a light snack, this is not it…

FIRECRACKER DOG: LAKEWOOD BLUECLAWS

For my first post, what better way to start than a good ball game dog? This is my favorite spot at my hometown ballpark First Energy Park home of the Lakewood Blueclaws. The dog house has a bunch of different specialty dogs, this one in particular is the “Firecracker". It’s an all beef jumbo hotdog on a pretzel bun, topped with shredded spicy chicken, pepper jack cheese, jalapeño sauce, and chipotle mayo. The Firecracker is not for the faint of heart, the jalapeño sauce really packs a punch… If you like spicy food the Firecracker is the way to go, but you will probably need a drink and a fork….
