the secretary of the liyue qixing loosed a sigh upon entering the apartment she'd been given, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes.
part of her wondered if she would ever get used to the lifestyle of a mortal, as she was still adjusting, even now. although it was the same among her fellow adepti, as she felt out of place there, too.
the only person she truly ever felt normal around, was you.
you were but a humble mortal under madam ping's wing. much like the culinary enthusiast, xiangling and her own little junior disciple, yaoyao.
although you weren't involved in cooking or the food industry, rather you had taken up studies as a historian. exploiting all there is to learn of the adepti as well as liyue's role in the history of teyvat.
due to frequent encounters that required self defense, you too, had become proficient in wielding a polearm after receiving your hydro vision. a reward for your mastery in research and documenting the history of your beloved nation.
somewhere along the lines of your lifetime, you had come to know ganyu. acquainting yourself with the girl and becoming closer with each meeting between you both. at first is was just professional, questions regarding her past and whatever knowledge she could spare to assist with your research. which eventually changed into deeper conversations, a blossoming friendship that would soon flourish into something far more intimate — romantic.
something you both came to treasure over the course of time, especially ganyu. for she knew your days were limited compared to hers, which made your shared time together all the more special.
"ahh 'yu, is that you? i didn't hear you come in, but welcome home!" you greeted from the kitchen of your shared apartment, resting the knife on the cutting board to greet your girlfriend with a peck to her cheek. "long day?"
ganyu smiled at the nickname, her heart warming despite the coldness of her vision as nodded her head. "quite.. we're still trying to deal with the reopening of the chasm." she sighed out, hanging her bag. "it might sound selfish.. but i really just wanted to come home to you." she murmured softly. "i missed home today."
hearing this made you blink before a smile spread across your lips as a gentle laugh escaped your lips. "that's perfectly normal, i have days where i just wanna put my research down and be with you, too." you admitted truthfully, leading her to the kitchen to continue with preparing dinner. "at least we get to be together now, yeah? after dinner i can run you a bath and we can just rest for tonight." you proposed, picking off where you left off.
ganyu hummed in response, wrapping her arms around your waist as she rested her head against your shoulder. "we can be, yes. a-and i'd very much like that.. should i assist with the bath and such?"
you shook your head, sliding the veggies into the hotpot. "no need! this is all about you relaxing, okay love? you've worked very hard today and i'm so proud of you for doing so. you deserve the break and rest for all that you do." came your gentle whisper, which brought a rush of warmth to the pale skinned woman's cheeks.
she wished to protest, knowing well she could have maybe worked harder or been more consistent — but that look you gave her halted any words of denial she wished to voice,
instead she smiled back, kissing your shoulder. "thank you, y/n.. for all that you have done and continue to do for me."
"of course, 'yu. anything to make you happy and comfortable again. i'll be there for you as long as possibly can, i promise." you told her sweetly, turning to face her as you wrapped your arms around her. "the food will be a bit, how does a shared bath sound to you?"
the fuchsia eyed adeptus pondered her words for a brief moment — debating — before nodding, finally. "it sounds wonderful to me."
