Sanji caught a glimpse of Robin lay on the bed as Luffy barged past them, and attempted to make his way through them, too. Guilt still burning in the back of his throat, he raised his failing voice, trying to draw Chopper's attention.
"I'll-" He coughed, the coarse flesh of his windpipe feeling torn and bleeding, but he assumed that that wasn't the case - or at least, he hoped. He didn't want to be seen to by their doctor. He wanted all possible medical attention to be given to Robin. He'd deny it if he had to.
"I'll watch her. Please." Sanji croaked. Chopper looked at him with furrowed brows, but Usopp piped up before him.
"Oi, Sanji, you can't stay up to watch her. You can barely stand, let al-"
"Then I'll sit, God damn it." Sanji retorted sharply. He felt beyond reasoning with, but the only outcome of this situation that he could see currently was him being forcibly dragged away from her again, and if that were to happen, he wouldn't be able to do jack shit about it.
Chopper looked up at him, his apprehensive gaze immovable as he thought carefully of what to say. He wanted Sanji to know how serious he was.
"I know you're worried, Sanji," He began, clearly distressed himself, "But you're unwell. You just rescued Robin, you almost drowned yourself, I need to give you a check-up and you need to rest." Sanji grimaced, opening his mouth to reply, but Chopper continued, "Usopp can watch over her for now. I'm your doctor and I'm responsible for your health, just like I am for everyone else on the Sunny!"
Sanji's face paled. He felt like all he did was wrong today. Why was that?
"...You can check me then." He said, his voice gravelly and raw.
"...But I have to stay in here with Robin-chan. I'm not leaving her."
Chopper gritted his teeth, discontent with only getting half of what he asked for. Usopp sensed the tension and interrupted, again.
"It's okay, I'll stay here too." He said, trying to diffuse the situation as calmly as he could. Wordlessly, Zoro left the room, shortly followed by Franky, then Brook, upon realising what was going on.
Sanji exhaled the build up of pressure weighing on his mind, and after showing a very weak smile to Usopp, he sat himself down and allowed Chopper to check him over.
It must have been about 20 minutes or so since Chopper had left the room, but positioned on either side of Robin's bed sat Usopp and Sanji - the latter of which was already fast asleep, holding her hand through the sheets. The dismal drizzle of rain outside and the creaking of the ship had Usopp sat alone with the melancholic silence as he fiddled with a gadget that he'd earlier brought up from his workshop. Sanji had been prescribed with some pain relief medication and was suggested he rested well and maybe cleaned himself up first, but even upon speaking it, Chopper doubted that either of those two were going to happen.
All burned-out and slumped over awkwardly on the bed, Sanji waited within the comforts of his mind for Robin to open her eyes.
