Wave good bye to the dip dye
Let’s face it, we’ve all been there. To dip or not to dip that was the question, and sure, we dipped back in 2010- but, HOT MILK would like to suggest the answer now should really be NO.
Colouring hair artificial colours haemorrhaged in 2011 and left a nation of women resembling clowns. Not only is it exhausted, (we cannot look at another image, on another blog of a baby pink dip dye), passé, and now being sported by ultra-cougar and fashion blind spot Caroline cradle snatcher Flack, it’s goddamn awful for your locks. We’ve all seen images banded round of naked supermodels with little cute dip dyes- this is a mirage and will not look the same in your bathroom. Unless your dip is oh-so natural- or a deep plum in your otherwise inky locks then it’s done. Get it out. We promise you’ll look better without it.
Here’s a few reasons the dip dye aint’ a strong look, welcome to our hall of shame:
A touching homage to Heath Ledger’s oscar winning role as the Joker in Batman. Lets put green hair into some cultural context: think Nathan Barley, jokes on you haircut episode, just don’t go there.
The dip dye has moved into unquestionably questionable territories with frequent appearances on chat shows/ Singing competitions etc. Here is the backwards dip dye- UNfreaking forgivable.
Stacey Soloman, you know of…um…the asda adverts… The dip dye has been adopted badly nation wide and is now a symbol of bad taste and bad hair in most cases.
A picture sometimes is enough….
HOTMILK asks why, it looks like you had lovely hair. We promise you will regret this in a month/few days.
These are not the plumy tones we discussed in the introduction. AVOID this at all costs.
SOME ACCEPTABLE ATTEMPTS:
Bearing in mind this was probably TWO YEARS AGO GUYS; just cos it’s Alexa it’s nicely tonal, gently blended and super glossy.
I’m sure SJP’s colourist is paid more per sesh than my annual wage. But, this look is perfectly blended, natural and cute.
Generally speaking if your dip dye is a shade or two lighter or darker than your naturally coloured hair then that’s ok. Just avoid all pantomime colours. Now the Zeitgeist’s suggestion is acid coloured hair…Brilliant… I can just imagine how this will trickle down to TOWIE. This is only for the brave and extremely beautiful. All HOTMILK is saying is don’t listen to hair trends, there’s no such thing! Wear your hair as it suits you.
If you’re doing ACID HAIR think Yayoi Kusama.
All we’re saying is look after those tresses they’re a girls best friend.
