My favorite part of my birthday is the annual texts from my mother starting like three days before reminding me that it’s actually her day too because she gave birth to me so she deserves to celebrate it too
Locked Tomb Spoilers
Gideon doesn't believe Harrow is capable of loving anyone except the body. Harrow remembers opening that tomb with a face Gideon is so sure she can never earn. What Gideon doesn't seem to comprehend is that Harrow is 200 dead sons and daughters, a war crime, who was created to carry on a legacy of face paint, devotion to the Ninth, devotion to the emperor, devotion to cold duty, and devotion to guarding a tomb that she was never supposed to see. Harrow was 200 sons and daughters who wanted to be a child. 200 sons and daughters who never knew that beauty could exist in any way but darkness. Harrow loves the body in that tomb the same way 200 sons and daughters of a backwater planet might love anything that wasn't everything they always knew they had to be resigned to. Harrow loves the body like homesickness because somewhere in her very DNA is memory of what the body once was. This is why the body is dangerous. Why Jod doesn't want her looked on. The body is angry. The body is wrathful. The body was taken from Harrow's ancesters, and by extension, Harrow and Gideon. He could never fight the body and he could never inspire the way the body clearly has the power to. Gideon is resentful that Harrow is 200 sons and daughters in love with the home she can't know. And Gideon has no idea because no one but Jod knows. She is a stupid young woman from a backwater planet who can't tell the difference between wistful homesickness and love.
Harrow wanted to live long enough to see the body awake- the world return. She could not bare to live in universe without Gideon. Killing herself would kill Gideon. She lobotomized herself to protect Gideon's existence. She would rather live without a grasp on reality, not knowing what she was missing, than live in a way that erased Gideon altogether. That is love. That is Orpheus refusing to look at Eurydice because she knows that if she looks, then Gideon is gone. And she would rather ruin herself completely than lose her cavalier completely.
But all Gideon sees when the returns is a Harrow that didn't love or want her. Which is so fucking tragic. I simply can't.
The thing about Korra is that if she destroyed the world it’s because the world had it coming
I chanced to swing by the binturong habitat during feeding time, so I saw it doing something other than sleeping for a change. Normal service had resumed when I came back later in the day.
The binturongs of monitoring the situation
i present to you a collection of posts that are not about the locked tomb series but that i think absolutely could be

Oh easy mistake. Yearning actually rises from the floor and longing hangs from the ceiling

The binturong of tiredness
It’s so me coded to be off on a tangent in therapy about not feeling valid in my neurodivergence and giving an aside about how, “and like yes I know, I can’t officially call myself [xyz] until I get an official assessment so it’s all theoretical,” only for my therapist to tell me that I do in fact have ADHD and that what we were doing during intake was the assessment. Went right over my head lolllllllllllllllllll. Guess I can stop telling myself I’m making things up now (I won’t)
No because why did I literally keep coming home and telling Phoebe, “Wow, they’re asking me so many questions in this intake, it’s taking so much longer than usual,” and the whole time I was being fucking ASSESSED
