Though most of her attention is on tending to his injuries, picking out dirt from the scratches in his arm with a tweezer and brushing cotton soaked with disinfectant over the cuts, she nonetheless listens well—as she often does. It’s not a difficult task, when considering that he’s clearly talking about someone he loves. The way his face brightens, even if there is a bittersweet element explained by his homesickness. It makes her smile, too, sensing his attachment to his family. Being close to her own mother, she understands him, and thinks him rather brave for being able to live independent like this.
"I know what you mean. There are times when I don’t get to see my mother because our work schedules don’t add up, and because of that, I sorta… hm, appreciate the times when we get to sit together and have dinner?" Her head tilts as she smiles sheepishly, knowing that it’s a simple joy, one which most people her age take for granted. Sometimes Bomi believes that it isn’t so bad, living like this, being able to appreciate so much more of life because she has so much less than most. Very often, the poor are the happiest. "You don’t get to go home often?" Eyes turning sympathetic, Bomi frowns, imagining herself in a similar situation—she doesn’t want to.
Surprised by the mention of his school, she blinks at him, trying to determine if she might have heard wrongly. If she doesn’t catch him calling it ‘one of the best’, Bomi might really have thought that he meant another Cheongdam. Not that she suspects that he wouldn’t be able to attend, considering her own miraculous situations, but she hadn’t been expecting that she had brought him a fellow student of her university. “Seriously, Cheongdam?! I go there, too!” she flushes, though, when she realises how that might seem like a bluff, considering the state of her home, “I just started attending as a freshman.”
Unconsciously, he finds himself smiling along with her.The young man didn't like it, but there was a little wiggle of jealousy in him that she was able to continue on with her family here. Eyes downcast and forlorn at her next words, he shook his head to the negative softly and murmured, "Nope. It costs a fortune just to have me here, so going home would be wasting even more money. I'm not a genius or even particularly skilled in any sports, so getting a scholarship was out of the question." His free arm reached back to rub abashedly at a suddenly flaming neck while forced chuckles leaked from the teenager.
Then he quickly straightened to turn a startling gaze on his temporary nurse in vague surprise, mouth agape. What were the odds of two people that lived in this kind of a neighborhood both going to a prestigious school? Somewhere way back in his head, the part of the brain that so enjoyed those tawdry French romance novels whispered "fate", only to be heartily ignored by the realistically geared male. It didn't even occur to him to be doubting, having found Bomi to be a "good" person in his quick assumptions, one that wouldn't make up tales.
It was almost on the tip of his tongue to say he hadn't seen her there before, sensibility quickly and wisely intruded, however, to remind him that it was a rather large school and even his excellent memory couldn't keep track of every face, especially if it was outside of his little sphere. Since she was a student like him, though, with as much probably riding on those slim shoulders as the burden on his own, made Chanshik feel ten times more guilty about taking up so much of Bomi's time. "Wow, what are the odds, right? Maybe I can help you out in repayment sometime then. I'm good at math and carrying heavy things like books or..." trailing off, his face scrunched up unattractively as he considered just what he was good for. "Or I could give you rides to school, since we're both heading that way. Maybe, if you wanted... sometimes," he added softly.

Angel Eyes © 1996 // GCS & LSY
Steam clouded the image in a small mirror that harbored a shaggy mop of onyx tresses framing high cheekbones, mismatched eyes and a lopsided grin. For someone who had a nonchalant attitude about most everything to do with his looks, the boy reflected was spending an awful lot of time and care on his appearance. The fringe of black bangs wouldn't lay quite right, no matter how thin fingers fussed at them and over-sized ears appeared to be particularly on display today no matter his wishes otherwise.
Sighing in defeat, Chanshik stepped back to get as best a look he could at the whole picture he presented. Fancy threads were not a luxury that the youth splurged on, so it was typical wear that he sported, namely a black baseball tee and midnight blue jeans, certainly nothing to denote he was heading out. Though, this particular pair of pants was definitely a little tight, having been a gift from a friend who'd said they made his cute butt look better. They were also the only ones clean at the moment.
A quick check of the numbers emblazoned across his phone's screen told the young man that it was a quarter to seven and just about time for the appointed meeting with his adorable new acquaintance. Callused palms patted down the lean frame, double checking for keys, wallet and anything possibly out of place. With a last glance about the tiny, but tidy apartment, the student swept out the door, locking and flipping the deadbolt behind him. By the tall fellow's own admission, he was most likely to be early and Chanshik had this devilish urge to keep up the innocent, albeit naive and way too disarmingly charming, mistaken notion that the clerk actually lived in the toy store below him alive in the other's mind.
Jogging down the stairs to bounce off the last step, he slid hands into jeans pockets and glanced about hoping he wasn't too late to keep up the illusion while simultaneously wishing it didn't make him seem overeager.

With a double bed mattress (read: without a bed frame) taking up most of the space in the room, a small floor table propped up against the wall, the apartment is far from spacious, and thus a likely uncomfortable space to be in. The only thing that might make it cosy would be the fact that this is most certainly home, the place that Bomi grew up in and will continue to grow up in for the foreseeable future. In all honesty, the place is suffocating. She has always thought that if a claustrophobic were to come into her home, they would begin to have difficulty breathing. As such, she thinks that Chanshik is merely being polite, though she is nonetheless appreciative of his efforts, and smiles back with a small shrug, answering instead that, “It’s home.”
And though she’s also apologetic, the only place for him to sit is the bed. Bomi isn’t about to let him sit on the floor, nor is she going to let him patch himself up when she had insisted on bringing him to do it for him. He could grumble all he wanted, but she is going to make sure that he looks less battered by the time she’s done with him. As she makes deft work out of the scratches on his arm, crouched beside him, she glances at him temporarily. Her head shakes to the silent question: no, it’s not too intrusive, and she doesn’t mind sharing the detail. “I live with my mum,” there needn’t be further details for the conclusion that she also sleeps in the same bed as her mother to be drawn. Though Bomi can’t help but feel shame in her poverty at times, especially when surrounded by her rich schoolmates, she doesn’t feel the same in his presence. “And don’t worry, you aren’t. My mum’s at work anyway,” she pats the uninjured part of his arm reassuringly.
At the mention that he’s not from the city, but here for school, her head tilts, “Oh yeah? Where are you from? Are you attending university?”
For a few moments, he allowed himself to think on his own mother and how much he missed her. Independence was nice, but he couldn't quite get used to being perpetually alone at home. Even when his parents worked all those extra hours, he had his favorite pipsqueak to keep him company. Many people wouldn't think his childhood could be anything other than depressing, especially the elite's on their high horses, but it was quite happy. There was never a single doubt in either boys mind that they were well and truly loved. Chanshik wouldn't trade that in for any price tag.
While he wasn't that kind of guy, the thought that he was on a girls bed, alone with a girl, had him flustered more than he'd care to admit. Even in his currently sorry state. "C-cool, yeah, my mom used to work a lot. But that just made it better when she was home, you know?" Pearly whites rubbed across a sensitive bottom lip. "She'd have this super stern look on right about now and just shake her head at what her troublesome son has done this time." He could practically see her and it made most of the bad feelings currently weighing heavy on his chest and mind melt away. A full blown smile encompassed his visage and the youth continued, "her hands were really rough, but they could be so soothing and sweet." The realization that he was rambling hit him and Chanshik blushed before mumbling, "sorry... I guess I miss her more than I thought."
"Some small town you've probably never heard of, I wouldn't recommend going either. All we've got are beautiful, open skies." A brief nod was attempted before realizing it made his head throb and the cancelled action looked a bit laughable, so it was a good thing he couldn't see himself because laughing would probably hurt just then too. "Oh, yup, I go to Cheongdam. It's full of snobs, but it's one of the best, so..." Trailing off, he gave a one shouldered shrug, deciding to leave the why's and how's of his attendance unlisted after practically talking the poor girls ear off a second ago with foolish sentimentality. "Are you?"

Her lips are pursed as she listens to him blame himself for what happened, even while he seems to have hardly enough energy to give her a mere smile. Evidently, her stubbornness is peeking out, and at the right time, too. After all, it seems like it would take persistence for the stranger to realise that he wasn’t at fault. She shakes her head firmly, “It really isn’t! I should have been paying attention.” Perhaps it’s neither of their faults, but the fault of the man who designed this street corner without erecting a mirror so that the passerbys could see around the corner. Maybe it’s luck that he was riding a scooter, and not a large motorcycle. She doesn’t even want to imagine what could have happened if his vehicle had been any bigger.
"No, I have to," she insists right back at him, holding the scooter up for him. Although she considers helping him push the thing while they walk, Bomi decides that his persistence would probably not allow her. She also decides that if he looks at all like he might keel over, she’s going to make him ditch the bike and take him home first. She keeps one careful eye on him as they walk, making sure that she’d be right there with him if he indeed falls over. "I’m Yoon Bomi," she answers, adding with a chuckle, "Yeah, you’re right. But getting to meet is a good thing in itself, right?" The best way to leave a good impression is to be optimistic, though it isn’t as if Bomi had to force herself to be. It comes naturally.
Thankfully, Chanshik doesn’t keel over on the road back to her place, which indeed doesn’t take long. She instructs him to lock the scooter to the railing by the sidewalk (they might be in a poorer area, but Korean people, thankfully, have pride, and tend not to steal), before helping him up the three flights of stairs to the right floor. “Um, our place is small, so,” she mumbles that as she unlocks the door and lets him in, and in sight is a single room space, with a door that leads to the bathroom and an open kitchen (if it could even be called that). She instructs him to sit while she goes to rummage for the medical kit. It’s a good thing that she has some knowledge about cuts and bruises, from all those trips that her mother and herself never took to the hospital. She makes him an ice pack for his head and begins to clean the wound on his arm.
The corners of lips twitched at such a question, rhetorical as it might be. That all depended on just who he had met. So far it seemed to be fortuitous as Yoon Bomi appeared to be a caring and considerate girl even to someone she didn't know and certainly had no logical, at least not to his mind, reason to be helping. Despite his pondering on her motives, deep down Chanshik knew he would do the same. A person in need isn't something any decent human being could turn their back on. Not that he liked being said person even a teensy bit. He found himself nodding in agreement anyway. Things couldn't possibly get much worse at this point, after all.
Luckily he managed to keep his feet and consciousness through the short walk, though there were a few times he'd thought it might be the end for him, very melodramatically. The battered youth hadn't been planning on parking anywhere in his original journey, but was relieved to find the lock and did as instructed quickly and mostly painlessly. In the next second, fingers fumbled to remove the cumbersome head gear, even though he was well aware the mop of tresses beneath probably looked mad scientist levels of horrifying. Again, it was with quiet reluctance he accepted her help up the stairs, tinges of rose shading aristocratic cheeks. "It's cozy," he mumbled glancing at Bomi with a warm smile after picking up on her reticence.
Taking a seat, the helmet placed at his side, a surreptitious gaze took in all of the lady's apartment. It didn't appear all that different from his own place and for some reason that had him relaxing more than intended. As he kept the ice pack in place on his head, Chanshik strove to remain still and not hiss as he was taken care of. Still, he couldn't keep from grumbling under his breath about how he could do it. Trying to take his mind off what's transpiring, the future astronomer grasped at a conversational straw. "Our place? Do you live with your family or a roommate, if it's not an intrusion into your privacy? I'm all on my own for the most part right now." Pearly whites clamped on a bottom lip while he stared carefully at a random place on the floor. "I'm actually not from the city, just attending school here." A short, rueful laugh escaped the tall boy as he thought about how he might have known the area enough to avoid this mess if he were from here. "I wouldn't want to get you in trouble for having me up here either!"
░ Babes in Toyland ⇒ GCS ✕ LSY
Eyes turned upwards, from the force of grinning like an absolute loon, as explicit permission to refer to his new companion as anything he wanted was given. “I’ll keep that in mind. You can do the same with me, if you’d like,” Sungyeol trailed off, not wanting to seem like he was pushing said issue. Never had anyone given him a nickname before. It sounded kind of nice, especially from someone who seemed to actually want to be around him. Not that there was a bit of understanding as towards why this was happening, but he certainly wasn’t going to question it. And he wasn’t going to question this strange urge to reach across the counter and run his thumbs across the back of the other’s hands, because what the heck did that even mean? Strange wants were pushed down into unknown depths to hopefully be forgotten.
Vibrant shades of red staining pert cheeks had the gamer worried. What if Chanshik had caught whatever ailments was currently swirling around his stomach? That would be no good. Unable to keep to himself, a cushioned palm reached up to caress strand-covered forehead, his demeanor that of a concerned mother’s. “You look flushed, are you feeling alright? I left all my Potions in my other bag— stupid, right? So I can’t really offer any assistance, but maybe you should go lie down for a bit.” Before allowing his hand to drop back to his side, fingers fussed at the stylish ebony bangs he had just messed up, attempting to put them back into their proper place. It didn’t turn out too well, as evident by Sungyeol’s dissatisfied pout, but the cashier didn’t look any less attractive because of it. The gamer was rather envious and found himself wishing to someday be that handsome.
It wasn’t typical for the lanky male to have garnered plans, rather than studying meetups or self celebrated Pokémon parties. So, maybe it wasn’t all that surprising that the upcoming event had the poor youth’s intestines tied up in anxious (but the good kind, for once) knots. And though Chanshik wasn’t likely to find out at this point, Sungyeol thought Vespas were rather cool and wasn’t the type to judge another’s mode of transportation. Or anything, really. Despite being what was referred to as an Elite, he wasn’t actually very good at it, and didn’t see what the fuss was over people who weren’t as well off as them. Maybe that was why he was mostly ignored. “Yeah, sounds fine to me,” the first-year replied automatically, knowing beforehand that he didn’t have anything else to do at that particular time, “I can pick you up too, if you want. I don’t mind.” The last part was blurted out for reasons beyond Sungyeol’s comprehension and he felt the need to hit himself for it later.
Concern had been unexpected for such an embarrassing ailment. What was with him today anyway? It was more like he was thirteen and asking the prettiest girl in school about her bra size then simply asking if a cute guy wanted to hang out. Jeesh, if Squirt saw him now he’d die of laughter. There was nothing Chanshik could say about it either. The thrumming in all of his veins was odd, but not unfamiliar exactly and that was kind of worrying, as was the lightheaded, almost dizzy, feeling. What was really scary was his reaction to a simple action that had absolutely zero undertone to it though. Quickly shaking his head, the boy took a deep breath and strove to recapture his suddenly dwindling manhood.
At least his somewhat tight schedule didn’t conflict with the others. Things could be a lot worse, he knew he wasn’t taking on as many hours as he could or possibly should, but the wiggle room he had always seemed to be much less than his fellow students. Brows furrowed as a minuscule frown flitted across chic features. “I wouldn’t want to be a bother or make you go out of your way…” If Sungyeol were one of his friends, he wouldn’t have hesitated to say sure, but asking for favors from strangers seemed terribly rude. Then again, it had been an offer, not his request, so perhaps it would be alright. “Okay, sure, that would be very nice. I actually live right here, so you already know the directions anyway.”
Within Chanshik harbored a certain penchant for finding most of the male persuasion obnoxious and surrounding himself with the fairer sex, so it was already impressive for him to be so interested in the quiet, bespectacled giant. Or it could just be the result of a terribly slow day. Regardless, he was already looking forward to exploring the strange urge to get to know this person on the appointed day. “So, it’s a date then!” Belatedly, he realized the implication behind such words when that wasn’t exactly what he meant and sought to cover it up quickly. Intrepidly, an index finger shook in the other male’s direction. “Don’t you dare forget or I’ll have to chase you all over until we’re even," pausing briefly for effect, an impish grin curved coral lips as pure triumph lit the depths of ebony eyes, “Ash!”

Dancing For Dummies // GC & MT
There is a place and time for everything, even dancing. Unfortunately, that place is not in the hush of a university's library stacks. But wait, I'm getting ahead of things.
It all began with a simple enough question. "And what if you get invited to some fancy science gala then remember you have no clue how to dance as the chairman of whatever company has the funding to back your dumb ass introduces you to his lovely daughter? Are you just going to mutter your apologies and insult the man when he encourages you to spin the young lady around for a dance?" Well, no, that was actually rather long-winded, but you get the point.
Resembling more some flighty bandit on his first job than a simple male seeking knowledge, with furtive glances over scrawny shoulders and slinking in between book cases, Chanshik made his way to the dewey decimal appointed section and retrieved the numbered book from a mahogany shelf. Aptly titled 'Dancing for Dummies', the young man flipped open to the first page and began soaking in all the text had to offer. If there was one thing he'd come to rely upon over the years, it was the fact that even the simplest of bumpkins could find the knowledge he sought between the covers of a book.
To his frustration the guidance within this tome seemed in line with the idea of practice makes perfect, which is utterly obnoxious when one is trying to quickly learn as much as possible. Plopping in a pair of pretty piggy shaped headphones, to better immerse himself in the appropriate mood, the nerdy male glanced about quickly to reaffirm he was completely alone, at least in this area. The intention of pulling shapes in the middle of such a stately place had not been his, but somehow that was what happened.
Innocently enough, it began with gentle foot tapping in time to the beat and progressed more rapidly than anticipated or desired to full on hip swinging and head bobbing. He'd probably just up and expire on the spot if someone actually saw such a sad display.
✁beep beep——ybm, gcs
Being able to see the struggle to focus his vision in his eyes only reinforces her concern, and likely her insistence to get him an ambulance and into a hospital. Looking closely, she could see the growing swell on the top of his head. While Bomi cannot claim to be an expert, she’s fairly certain that the way he cannot look straight back into her eyes is an indication of an emergency. “Shh, shh, don’t move, it’s okay. I’m going to get you to the hospital.” Clearly, she couldn’t tell that he’s trying to tell her precisely not to do so.
She’s typing in the number for an ambulance with shaking hands when she realises what he’s been trying to say, and by then his speech has become louder and less coherent. “Are— are you sure?” Bomi couldn’t deny her own fright for this person’s life, and while it might not look like he’s bleeding to his death, it doesn’t change the fact that he and his scooter had went straight into a pole. But she also knows that she cannot force him. Indeed, if it were her in his position, she wouldn’t allow him to call an ambulance either. Hospitals might be saviours of lives, but medical fees are unforgiving.
Having helped him up, Bomi looks down at his arm the same time he does, flinching at the sight of it. “I’m okay…” she’s unharmed, at least, even if rather freaked out by the incident. It isn’t even because he could have hit her, but because he hadn’t hit her and hurt himself in the process. She almost gapes up at him when he asks not to be sued, jumping up to help him with the scooter, “Why would I— You’re the one who got hurt!” She wasn’t even beginning to think of suing him! “I live around the corner, so— at least take a rest there and let me patch you up, yeah?” She couldn’t possibly let him go like this…
"At least something went right then." Turning to face the unknown lady with a weak, yet extremely grateful and heartfelt smile, he thanked his lucky stars that she was fine. Well, physically speaking, otherwise she seemed very shaken up, which was totally understandable when one had narrowly avoided being flattened by a scrawny boy on a scooter. "Yeah, but it's still my fault. If I had been doing as I should have, no one would have gotten hurt I'm sure."
Part of Chanshik had always firmly believed in karma and this seemed rather fitting for his carelessness. Or it could just be the head trauma speaking, who knew. Sighing deeply, he noted his injuries and the fact that he couldn't even get the moped up without her help reluctantly. There was still the fact that he had to get back to the store in time for work, appearing as hale and hearty as possible hopefully to avoid a scolding too. Accepting help was not in his nature, however. Glumly, an inky mop topped head nodded in it's ridiculous helmet, acquiescing albeit without as much tact as would be appropriate given the circumstances. Hopefully she wouldn't notice.
"You don't have to," he insisted for the sheer principle of the matter, "but okay. That would be very nice of you, thank you." It took all of his will to relax his pride enough to agree and even more was required as he needed assistance with the cumbersome scooter to even get wherever she was leading him. "Oh, hey, I'm Chanshik. Gong Chanshik and I wish we were meeting under better circumstances, but it's nice to meet you anyway." Should he offer to give her something for the assistance? Every time he'd gotten hurt over the years, it had either been small enough to take care of himself or his mom had been there to soothe away any hurt with little fuss. Looking back he'd been extremely lucky, with so many of his playmates back in the day needing stitches or casts on broken limbs. Maybe Regulus really was on his side.
