"Not Like Most" A Danarya Drabble. Could be part of a larger Jonarys concept or a gendrya and danarya love triangle. rated G-T at most.
The dragon's shining black scales were like nothing Arya ever felt before. Her fingertips marveled at the steely but wholly alive feel of them. Yes, she'd seen dragons in the sky, but she'd never been so close to them prior to this moment. Drogon was a wonder from a far, but up close, Arya thought he might be something even greater. He was something the whole world could not explain. Daenerys would only say he was born of her amidst the fire. Arya could tell there was more truth than that, it she did not push for more. Daenerys was not one to speak the finer details of her past, only the grandest points. In their time together from Braavos to Dragonstone, Arya discovered that the queen was in the habit of keeping some things to herself unless they were coaxed out, slowly but surely. Patience was the key to Daenerys. Though Arya was never one to wait, she was willing to if waiting guaranteed a reward or desired outcome.
"He likes you," Daenerys said from behind one of Drogon's wings. Daenerys looked especially lovely in her black tunic trimmed with red silk and black stones that also composed the necklace on her throat. Her silver hair was formed in elaborate braids, as if she had some battle to attend. Arya allowed herself to stare for half a heartbeat before she turned her eyes back to the dragon.
"How can you tell?" Arya asked. She narrowed her eyes at the great marvelous beast.
The question brought the flash of brilliant smile on Daenery's beautiful features. "For one, he has not burned you."
Arya snorted in amusement. "Well, then I am grateful for his admiration. Imagine if he didn't care for me?"
Daenerys did not immediately respond. Rather, she came out of the wing's shadows, and walked over to stand right next to Arya. Her elegant, small pale hand stroked the scales right next to the ones Arya fingers were still examining. The sudden closeness made Arya feel a hitch of excitement. Her heart leapt in the thrill of something that was hard to place. All she knew is that there was an overwhelming to get closer to Daenerys, to let her come nearer as well.
The queen's voice was soft when she spoke. "There are not many bold enough to even come close to a dragon unguarded."
Arya turned to look down upon Daenerys. Her eyes met a pair of purple eyes staring at her with equal intent. "I'm not like most, I think."
Daenerys did not say anything with words. The expression of her body came first as one of her hands danced it's way onto Arya's fingers with strokes equal with an unusual contrast of power and gentleness. Arya felt an unbidden desire to bring that palm to her mouth, but she fought it off with the assumption that the queen might not be so understanding of such an unusual act.
When Daenerys spoke, Arya could hear an odd quality in her voice. "That much I have been able to discern. Arya, would you like to go for a ride?"
A pretty flush crept upon the queen's face. "Yes, a ride upon Drogon."
The notion thrilled Arya. "Your Grace, are you certain? I've never flown a dragon."
Daenerys smirked. "I am quite certain, or I would not have asked. Perhaps I can ride first. You can hold on at my waist. A lesson in observance should be enough to teach you how it is done."
Nothing more needed to be said. Daenerys climbed upon Drogon. Her hands clutched onto the dragon's steel scales. Only one look of daring was enough to send Arya climbing up as well, but her hands held on to Daenery's waist.
The two of them were then thrust into flight, soaring above the rest of the world.
