It was incredibly rare that Magnolia took a night or two off from singing at the Third Rail, but Anna was always happy to cover for her friend when something did come up. While she was content with the life she’d made for herself in Diamond City, she occasionally missed the spotlight and this was a nice way to get the urges out. The free drinks were nice, too.
The way the lights were positioned made it difficult for her to see out into the bar, but about halfway through her set she noticed a pair of glowing yellow eyes cutting through. She smiled and sent a wink their way, assuming her favorite detective had come on a case.
Once she had taken her bow, she headed to the bar to get her usual rum and nuka from Charlie. Her eyes scanned the room for the synth, her brows furrowing ever so slightly when she found him. Unless he’d gotten some work done to cover most of his exposed frame and found a new outfit, it seemed there was more than one of his model. Still, she raised her glass slightly in his direction and smiled. No need to be rude just because she’d mistaken him for someone else.
The music had been unexpected— not unpleasant, but disorienting in its warmth.
He sat stiffly in the corner booth, back impossibly straight, like posture alone could separate him from the rest of the room. Everything in Diamond City was a... charming attempt at society. He couldn't pretend he wasn't at least somewhat fond of the place, though he'd never say as much.
The voice onstage had caught his attention. Not because he cared for the song. But because he couldn't figure out why he cared at all.
Then she'd winked at him.
He’d turned, idiotically expecting to see Nick behind him.
He was alone.
Of course he was.
Now, as the woman makes her way to the bar and raises her glass, Robert responds in kind: a curt nod, precisely measured. Not inviting. But not dismissive either.
His optics adjust. He calibrates facial data.
He stands, slowly. Approaches the bar.
“Forgive the confusion,” he says smoothly, voice just a hair off from the synth she thought he was. A bit more clipped. Proper. Trying to sound more like himself.
“You seem to have mistaken me for someone else. Detective Valentine and I are not acquainted—though we do share a manufacturer.” His tone turns dry. “It’s something of a cosmic joke, I think.”
His gaze flickers to the drink in her hand. Then back up.
"I'm Robert."
literally house is a testament to regional respect and that's WHY he has done so well and in this essay i will
babes the moves i'm making irl? house would be PROUD. i think i can rp him confidently at this point lmfao
when i said low activity i meant it because fallout is an enduring interest but one that only lasts for like 2-3 days at a time
@ilingeron | sentence starter: always accepting!
"It's hard to focus when you're sitting so close."
"Is that so?" He asks, mouth quirking upwards. "I don't seem to have that trouble." He knows it's just a line, so he moves further down the couch. "Better now?"
i wanna know who the slot machine technicians are in new vegas
Courier: In the meantime, you'd rule Vegas as some kind of dictator?
Mr. House: I prefer the term "vegan."
anyway in this au fnv is a post-apocalyptic cooking game. your tasks include exploring the wasteland to grab up all the pre-war food - house basically wants all of it to be for new vegas only or at least for nv to have the biggest supply. in addition to this, you also have to create a menu for each casino that is unique to the individual casino's theming and complies with (vegan) mr. house's standards, mixing and matching the hoarded canned/boxed food to create sustainable menu items and beverages. you also have to ensure that the customers who have adapted to the wasteland's [grimacing, house voice] delicacies are willing to pay for the vegan casino food of course.
all of this basically happened because house woke up, realized everyone was eating iguana, and was like noooo absolutely not i will not consume this trash even through a tube, got mad because refusal to use sustainable food accelerated climate change and is part of the reason everyone has to eat brahmen now, and basically decided to become vegan. so he wasn't already vegan before he became vegan after he got up from his coma.
he tells the courier that the casinos need to have cheese and crackers
courier: where the hell am i supposed to get cheese
house: -_- i don't care if it's cashew cheese just get on it
courier, softly: what's a cashew
we finally start to really feel that house was born in 2020 because he has all these vegan recipe ideas from his pinterest phase
vegan mr. house moodboard
Robert Edwin House, 261, President, CEO, and sole proprietor of the New Vegas Strip, industrialist and technologist, founder, President, and CEO of the multi-billion-dollar pre-war robotics and software corporation, was born June 25, 2020, in an era where sustainable living practices had become more crucial than ever, and where the failure to abide by them led to humanity's downfall.
All of New Vegas's casinos, under Mr. House's competent jurisdiction, offer a menu of sustainable, vegan food and refreshments to visitors. None of that lizard steak nonsense.
Vegas always was one of a kind. What you see down on the Strip is just a fraction of the city's former glory, and yet... more than an echo. I preserved its spirit.
i'm a capitalist fr i don't wanna be but i have the mind for it

Anna was lounging on her patio next to her pool, script in hand, cat at her feet, and a lemonade on the table beside her. She had only been living in the Hollywood Hills for a month and was still enjoying the novelty of being able to go outside without being assaulted by the inescapable odor of Las Vegas. It was Robert’s turn to stay with her for the weekend and both her and the cats were thrilled. Probably much more than he was.
Behind her came a meow followed by an annoyed grunt that told her all she needed to know. “Fred, leave Daddy alone. You know he doesn’t like snuggling you.”
"I am not its father. Don't give it any ideas. " He grumbled, watching the cat as he padded forward to hop on her lounge chair. Robert didn't dislike the cats, but he didn't want to be harassed by them. He turned his attention back to Anna and stepped out onto the patio, taking the seat beside her with the newspaper in hand. Fred promptly jumped onto his chair and he let out a sigh, nudging him gently away from House. "They may shed less than the average cat, but I still find fur on my suits."
i wasn't going to mention it but it's funny trivia for this blog: the job i got is at a casino
plotting call! like this and i'll attack your dms for thoughts.
