Talk About Sensitivity In The COD Fandom **Important.**

THIS IS NOT A DEBATE POST. DO NOT BOTHER.

Hey, everyone. After the reveal of Makarov in the trailer (as well as general concern), I think a chat about sensitivity is important. Since the trailer’s release, I have seen a major increase in simping for Makarov posts as well as genuine romanticization of Russia and/or Russian Soldiers. First, I want to talk about the romanticization of Russia and/or Russian soldiers because it’s seriously getting out of hand. I need you guys to realize that Russia is an ultranationalist country and yes, maybe not everyone who lives there believes what their government does, but it’s important to know a big portion of their population does. I have seen multiple posts and edits of this man right here (pictures below).

THIS GUY IS NOT SOMEONE YOU SHOULD LIKE, AND PEOPLE NEED TO UNDERSTAND THAT HE DOES NOT LIKE YOU. This is one of the most popular Russian Soldiers amongst the internet due to the way he wears a mask, gear, has an accent, and is buff. He makes videos teaching soldiers how to kill people—innocent people in Ukraine who are just trying to survive. I have seen people straight up ignore when someone tells them what this man has done, so let me put it this way—he does not like you. He wants you dead. He is racist, a homophobe, transphobe, antisemitic, etc. He absolutely hates The West, and he does not like you unless you are a cis, straight, white 100% Russian. Even if you’re a woman, he DOES NOT LIKE YOU. If you American, HE DOES NOT WANT YOU ALIVE.

[This part is not targeted; just a general statement.] Second; there is a serious problem with how you guys address Makarov as a character. There is absolutely no problem enjoying him as a villain because I do too, but you guys have to realize that Makarov is an ultranationalist—which is exactly what Russia is right now, an ultranationalist terrorist state. “But he’s fictional, it doesn’t matter! it’s not that deep!” It actually is that deep. I keep seeing content for Makarov and I can’t force anyone to stop making “fluffy fics”, but I need y’all to have some fucking decency towards victims and people affected by the war. I know people who are affected by the war who feel ill seeing posts painting Makarov in a good light. If you are going to write Makarov, do NOT romanticize him as a character—do NOT paint him a decent or good light, because you can’t. Write him like the bastard he is. And no, this isn’t a “let people write what they wanna write” situation. You can do that, but please be expected to be judged and blocked by me and many others. Makarov is quite literally the characterization of everything that is wrong with Russia, and what HAS been wrong with Russia. Makarov is not a bad boy, a rebel, etc, he’s a fucking terrorist. Please be for real. “But the military in general is bad, so why does it matter specifically around Makarov?” Please see above my previous reasons. Thanks.

The overall message of this point is to be fucking respectful. There are actual people dying and slaughtered for no reason other than ruined pride and a lot of Ukrainian folk seek comfort and distractions in the internet and their fandoms. This ruins it for them and quite frankly, sometimes how Makarov is being written? It’s completely insensitive. How Ghost argues with other 141 members:

Soap: Yelling, just loud in general. He gets close and towers over Soap. A lot of shoving into each other without using their hands to push. Usually ends up with one of them making a joke when they realize that they’re getting a little too heated over whatever they’re arguing over. One time Soap started dancing during a argument for and their argument turned into a dance battle. No one was there to witness and they refuse to speak about it for some unknown reasons.

Price: Not yelling but still being loud. A lot of dramatic, excessive hand gestures (almost karate chopped Price by accident before). Sometimes turns into Ghost just dissing Price’s clothing choice of that day (if they’re not in gear) and that evolves into laughter. Ghost once called Price’s shirt a victim because of how many holes were in it. This immediately dissolved their argument into laughter.

Gaz: Starts off like how he argues with Price, then turns into how he argues with Soap. And at the final stage, they just start slap fighting. At this point it’s no longer arguing. This usually ends with Ghost somehow pinning Gaz to the floor with his full body weight and someone having to intervene to free him. Gaz once called Ghost a fat ass after one of this instances and Ghost immediately tackled him (Gaz no longer says anything after being freed).

Laswell: He doesn’t argue with her. He just waits for her to say whatever she has to say then makes rude hand gestures at her when she turns her back. Has been smacked for this after being caught but that hasn’t stopped him from continuing to do it. Many times Laswell would begin to walk away after saying something only to stop and quickly turn around in a attempt to catch Ghost in the act. He’s immediately slapped when caught (and in one case chased with a rolled up magazine).

Nik: Rarely argue because Nik is good at defusing situations and just calmly talking things out or just agreeing to disagree. Though they have gotten into one genuine intense argument. That won’t happen again (Nik is terrifying when actually angry). Now Ghost just shuts up when he senses that Nik is getting annoyed by whatever they’re talking about. Just immediately stops talking without a word. This actually annoys the fuck out of Nik. Price has to deal with the aftermath.

So I have this eagle plushie my bf gave me for Yule a few years ago. It's a very very important issue since my bf has had it since he was 5. Well I usually cuddle him while I sleep with owen. Well this morning we couldn't find him. We legitimately tore the room apart. Pulled the bed out 3 times thinking he fell back there. But we couldn't find him. Well when I woke up at around five pm. I looked to my side and saw a little yellow foot. It was skylar. Between the wall and the bed. WE LOOKED THERE 3 TIMES. WE LOOK UNDER AND AROUND THE BED 3 FUCKING TIMES. We looked inside my stuffies thinking he went into them. We looked absolutely everywhere. But the fact he was visible after we woke up and in plain site, Proves loki fucking messed with him. It was either a fuck you from loki for us not offering him things (btw we haven't made any offerings to the other gods yet so idk why he's getting jealous) or a "HI GUYS IM HERE I EXIST, CAN YOU GIVE ME STUFFS!!" This was an amazing and terrifying experience from my gods. I knew it was loki before I went to bed. But I didn't wanna blame him without evidence. But now we have evidence. And it's a yikes.
