( @southernfriedengineer liked for a starter)
Blu had to take deep breaths in the interim between therapy sessions, tiredly trying to re-focus her thoughts on the task ahead of her. An Engineer. She could handle an Engineer. ... Right? They didnât seem to be one of the particularly violent members of the team, not like Heavy or Pyro. Maybe this one would be alright.
What made her worries worse was that Engineers in general tended to be particularly intelligent. Did this one know anything about therapy? Would they be the one to realize that her therapy âtrainingâ wasnât entirely legitimate? She hoped not. She had made a promise to miss Pauling to give these men therapy, even if she had been studying up on it even while unpacking her things with Red.
Oh heavens, this was going to be a wild ride.
âYou can come in now, Engineer.â She called out from within the blocked-off corner of the storage room, already anticipating another closed-off individual that would refuse to answer her questions even remotely directly. Well, here went nothing...

Ok, color-appropriate pillow on the chair, no red in sight, laptop set to take notesâŠÂ This would be fine. Probably.
Miriam, or Mod Blu as was her code-name now, tried to remind herself to keep calm despite what was happening. She was just going to talk to a grown man about his life. Nothing more, nothing less. Talk to him, and listen. Granted he was a Spy, part of a band of nine professional killers, and could probably slit her throat and hide the body days before anyone found out she was gone, but you know. Talking and listening. No big deal.
A glance at her watch confirmed that it was almost time for him to arrive. What would he even be like? Would he be nice? Would he cooperate at all? She hoped so. She hardly knew what she was doing in the first place, and really didnât need the extra stress.
⊠This wasnât going to end well, was it?
The spy was told to be at a specific place at a specific time. That was all. He suspected it was medical- a doctor perhaps, or even a few doctors.
He came armed and ready for a fight. What he did not expect was to poke his head into the room and see a child sitting there.
ââŠ.. Are you lost?âÂ
Out of all the things she was expecting to hear when the Spy entered the room, that statement... certainly wasnât any of them. Blu adjusted her glasses and focused on maintaining her professional attitude. Just keep breathing. She could handle this.
âNo, mister Spy, I am not lost. You can refer to me as Blu, and I will be your therapist as instructed by miss Pauling. ... You were previously informed of this meeting, correct?â
âEh, nothinâ to be sorry about. She left when I was young so I barely remember her, ya know? To hell if I care what happened to her,â She answered with growing bitterness, folding her arms over her chest. It wasnât like she didnât know; more so that she didnât care about the matriarch or really wanted to answer that question in particular. Therapist or not, there were some boundaries she wanted to keep to herself. She was a grown woman; She could handle it herself. The scoutâs eyes narrowed at the next accusation. âYeah! âCourse Iâm sure! Itâs not like I lived with them for seventeen years or nothinâ. 'Sides what you call-â Air quotations. â-'quite roughâ ainât nothinâ more than teasinâ. You know? Jokes? So that you can deal with livinâ with each other?â Another bitter, evasive answer punctuated with an annoyed huff. âSure, maybe Iâd get a little upset when theyâd go off with their mom or when theyâd complain about havinâ to watch their baby sister, but it didnât bother me too much, Lady.â
Blu sighed and closed her laptop with a small frown. More evasive answers, more hostility in her attitude; this session was going nowhere fast. At least she did learn an important tidbit: she felt insulted and hurt when her siblings treated her as less than them and/or didnât seem to want to be around her. This was useful to know.
Now, she could bring this up now and press further; but the chances of that ending well were very slim. The Scout was already quite riled up, and at this point it would be better to let the other have some downtime.
âMiss Scout, I can tell that something is bothering you. I understand your not wanting to share it with me; but believe me when I say that there is only so much I can do to help if you donât let me in. If youâre going to keep pushing me away, then Iâm afraid todayâs session is over.â
Mostly because she wasnât sure how much pestering this mercenary could take before snapping and getting violent.
âOur next session is in another week, so perhaps it might help to observe yourself for a while. See if you can notice yourself getting angry or upset; and if you can, remember to write down what was happening at the time. A thought or an action or a sentence, even something that seems minor, can hint to something larger in the end. We can go over them when you come back.â She highly doubted the woman would listen to her advice, but she had to try something.
â... On a more personal note, miss Scout: Miss Pauling sent me here to try and help you. Iâm going to do as she asks until we both agree that all is well. I donât want to push you to talk to me if youâre not comfortable, but you should know that the more you avoid this, the longer I will be here. I hope you realize that.â
Starter call for âBluâ
Alright. Time to try getting this blog in order. Like this post if you want to get your mercenary a therapy session with Blu. Reblog / reply to this if your RP blog is a sideblog~!! Iâm gonna try sorting through my responses and see if we can get this properly rolling~
Note, the word âBluâ in this case does not mean that RPs are limited to people on the BLU team. Blu is just the name of the character.
@stickybcmbsâ
It was times like these that made Blu question why she hadnât tried to quit her âjobâ yet.
The RED base was full of terribly troubled men; sheâd known that from the moment sheâd seen them in passing on the battlefield. Backstabbers and pyromaniacs, patriotic lunatics and giant men with giant guns... it was madness. Horrifying madness that should have warded her off and made her leave this place before she got all but stuck here. But it didnât. Her family needed money, and miss Pauling had helped her become âlegal.â She was going to have to stay, for their sakes if not for the madmen she was hired to help.
Even so, one would think Pauling could have eased up on the pressure to seem like real therapists. She and Red had hardly been in the base for a week before she had them start their sessions. They were so busy reading up on therapy that they hadnât even had time to study up on anyone properly; leaving them entirely at a loss as to who they were even dealing with. The most they had now were names and job descriptions. And the next one on her list? âDemoman.â
Now, Blu had seen the men in action before. She knew that Demoman was the one with the eyepatch that seemed to have bombs of all sorts at his disposal. She also had seen just how easily heâd turned people to shreds of bloody debris, and that he hardly even seemed to care that heâd done it at all. Granted one had to have some degree of tolerance for gore if you worked as a professional killer; but even so, Demoman was definitely on her list of people she was afraid of.
And now she had to try and give him therapy. Lovely.
âYou can come in now.â She called out from her little therapy room, which frankly was just a corner of a storage room that was boarded off with boxes until they made somewhere more suitable. At least it was out of the way, and provided room for a large red sofa to sit opposite her flimsy little desk and chair. Taking a deep breath and forcing herself to remain calm, the girl could only hope that things would go smoothly. This was only her first day on the job, after all.

â Well, no story is perfect, is it? Sumtimesâ shit happens in real life and hey, thatâs okay, stuff like that happens. Like me loosinâ one of my teamâs most important objects. But thatâs okay, youâll get me out of this, right? ⊠Right? âÂ
Blu runs her hand down her face and heaves a long sigh.
âScout, half of your team doesnât even like me, let alone trust me. I can try and keep them distracted for a while, but thereâs only so much I can do if they figure out whatâs wrong. Come on, youâre the fastest one in the whole group; surely you can go find it before the others can figure out what happened."
ă ïŒŹïœ ïœïŒïœ ïœïœïœïœïœ ïŒïœ ïœïŒă
â  On a scale of ânot very angryâ to âthey are goinâ to kill meâ, how pissed do you think my team would be if they found out that I accidentally lost our teamâs briefcase?.  âÂ
âY-you lost the briefcase?!â Blu grimaced as she sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose between two fingers. âDarn it, Scout... When was the last time you saw it? Please tell me it wasnât anywhere near the BLUs.â
Blu didnât miss the lack of eye-contact the woman was giving her. She could tell, or at least quickly assumed, that she was hiding something. But she hadnât quite reached that stage in her therapy book yet; so she wasnât sure how to address it. Besides, it was best to get the simpler questions out of the way before attempting more in-depth ones that can provoke highly emotional responses.
{Possible strained relationship with the mercenaries. Acting standoffish and avoiding eye-contact. Investigate further at another time.}
âRight um⊠letâs move on to your family. What was your relationship like with your mother and father? Your siblings? I understand they are a part of the reason you work here.â
Blu really wished she had taken the time to read the mercsâ files before starting sessions; but she had simply been too busy learning techniques for therapy to do so. At best it was an excuse to ask questions; at worst, it was a clear sign that she had no idea what she was doing.
There was a beat; her frown deepening for that moment before going straight. Well, it wasnât like she was suppose to reveal any of this to anyone else, or at least thatâs what Miss Pauling had told her.
âGot a pretty good relationship with my folks back home. I talk to Dad when I can, and I dunno about my sistahs. Thereâs sevenâa them, and as far as I know, theyâre ether gettinâ hitched or workinâ or protestinâ somethinâ or anothah-â A slight grin as she sat back in her seat. No less tense but reminiscing. â-We all used to fight out on the streets ya know? Itâd earn a quick buck or two for us until most of us could work-â A slight frown. â-I mean, weâre sistahâs so Iâm pretty damn sure that we had a good relationship- Hell even bettah than good! We were like close friends too! Weâd tease each othah and everythinâ!â Even if they would take their teasing too far, or refuse to spend more time with her than needed. They were sisters. That had to be enough.
  It had to be.
âDidnât know my mom though. She just⊠Died. But Dad and I were close. When everyone else was busy on the couple days he was off, we would hang out at home or go out and do stuff.â
Blu couldnât decide whether or not to believe the young woman when she claimed her relationship with her siblings was âbetter than good.â From the words alone all seemed fine, but something about the expression on her face suggested otherwise.
{Possible problem with siblings. Escondido detrås de positividad?}
... sheâd have to translate that later.
âIâm sorry for your loss.â Was she allowed to say that as a therapist? âDo you perhaps know what happened to her? And with your sisters, are you quite sure you didnât have any problems at all? Siblings have been known to get quite rough with each other.â
She may as well try to start probing at possible problems. So far she was getting nowhere with these answers; and well, the worst that could happen is a stern refusal to answer. ... right? Miss Pauling had equipped her with an item called âmaceâ in case of emergencies, but the girl wasnât honestly sure how to use it yet.

Wasnât it though? After being here for so long, dying and resurrection almost seemed like a law of the world. Like death was just a rumor; a wisp of gossip shared in hushed tones amongst school girls. Always a stifled giggle to follow like it wasnât as serious as it truly was. As if they were going to live forever, and that was just the way it was, and always has been to this point. Either way, the thought of spilling secrets to the woman before her did little more than make the Scout shift in her seat; drumming fingertips against her thigh. Impatient and tense. Nevertheless, an amused huff left through her nose. At least she could avoid talking about herself for the time being.
âMy team and I? Weâre all friends here!-â A blue eyed gaze looks around as if the words she were looking for were on display somewhere in the room. â-Letâs see: There ainât anyone Iâd really complain about. Like yeah, Spy can go drop dead twice sometimes, but if she got over that whole-â Cue exaggerated/mocking French accent â-âIâm so much better than you and so much smarter even though I only literally stab people in the backâ thing, then sheâd be a lil alright. Demoâs pretty fun to hangout with during ceasefires. Canât be bored around her ya know? But, I mean, weâre all friends anyway, so we kinda deal with each other, ya know?â Admittedly, Jean refused to look at the other during the little spiel; instead looking around the room or to her own hands. Pulling and fiddling with the spindly appendages wrapped with gauze. Just looking anywhere besides the other made this ordeal more tolerable it seemed.

The faint feeling of hope for an easy interview quickly vanished the moment Blu saw the womanâs face. She was angry, clearly; and in no mood for making friends. The young girl fought the urge to release a sigh, and instead only nodded at the other in response to their question.
âYes, although I would appreciate you calling me Blu or Mod Blu instead of simply broad.â Deep breaths now, a Scout was a Scout. She had to deal with them accordingly. âI realize that, as a Red, it may be difficult for you to associate the color with anyone trustworthy; but I assure you that my name is a mere coincidence, and I am not associated with the Blus whatsoever.â
Her ânameâ wasnât even her real name anyway, but that was besides the point.
âPlease, miss Scout. Go ahead and have a seat, and we can get started. Would you care to tell me a bit about yourself?â
âWhatever you say, Blu.â Taking a seat in the available chair, she was quick to tuck a leg under herself and fold lean arms across her chest. The therapist was younger looking than she had expected. Certainly more lady like than the idea of a ânew ageâ man trying to talk feeling out to other men. It wasnât a bad thing, but it was unexpected considering that there tended to be more men of base than any female counterparts.
Still, at least she didnât look the type to pull out some sort of âhealing braceletsâ or âemotional herbâ bullshit that one of her elder siblings liked to rave about. She could at least deal with that.
âWell, I have tits, and some times run around in a skirt. I got brown hair, work out (mostly runninâ), and enjoy long walks on the beach,â She was quick to retaliate; barely trying to hold back any further snarky comments or answers. A shrug. âAlso, Iâm gonna be straight with ya Blu; I donât see the point in allâa this-â Air quotes. â-âtherapyâ stuff. I mean, if weâre out there killinâ and dyinâ and all that stuff, then Iâm pretty sure we can suck up a few little problems on our own.â
Blu waited nearly a full minute after the woman spoke to make notes on her laptop -that was what miss Pauling called this thing, right?-, fairly certain that she should not be counting âlong walks on the beachâ as an actual response. It took her a moment longer than it should have to ensure that the notes were entirely in English, so she used that time to continue speaking to the Scout. No need to look incompetent.
âWell miss Scout, I have to say that what youâve stated is exactly the reason you and your teammates should be speaking to me and Red.â She glanced up at the other over her glasses. âKilling and dying multiple times isnât exactly normal. And bottling up oneâs problems without release isnât emotionally healthy.â
Ugh, finally. Why was it so hard to spell in English?
âEven if you donât believe you need my help, Iâd still like to ask you to speak to me about whatever youâre troubled by; whether itâs something going on with your family, your teammates, or even something that happened when you were a child. My purpose is to listen to whatever you have to say.â Whew. That came out sounding a lot better than she thought it would.
âNow then, speaking of your teammates, would you like to talk about your relationship with them? We can start with whatever class you like. Maybe the Soldier or perhaps the Spy?â

Ok, breathe. Just breathe. This one was different. This one⊠might be nice.
Blu didnât know why she was psyching herself up so much, all the mercs were hired professional killers of one sort or another, and each one was liable to be as violent as the others. But the fact that this one was a female Scout⊠it made the young girl a bit hopeful. Maybe they could connect more. Maybe she and Red would finally have someone they felt comfortable talking to aside from each other.
It was time for the appointment now. After ensuring that there was nothing of the wrong color in sight, Blu sat up straight and readied a smile for when the Scout entered. She could do nothing but hope that all would go well from this point on.
    Therapy.
God the word just looked wrong. She honestly couldnât see the point of it; everyone has problems. You either find a way around them or get over it, so the whole âgo see a therapistâ thing didnât exactly appeal to the scout as she trudged to the appointment.
Therapy. What a waste of time that could be used for better things. Like making sure you wonât get your ass handed to you the next time youâre fighting, or just not going to this sappy-feeling session. It would be a lie to say that Jean hadnât considered skipping this all together, but if Miss Pauling told her that she needed to attend, then who was she to argue about it?
After all, Miss Pauling knows best.
Dragging herself up to the door (the final barrier that would separate her from the rest of the world for how ever long this would take), the scout looked around for a moment before entering the room; a light scowl marring her face as she looked towards her temporary captor, shutting the door behind her.
    âGuessinâ youâre the therapist broad?â
