Jack Howl is a first-year at Savanaclaw; cold and stern, he's seen as a misfit amongst the rest of his dorm for his straight-laced attitude. He isn't seen much at the dorm, preferring to spend time in the library or on the track, constantly working to improve himself— both physically and academically.

Day 3 Summary

The last day of the Banquet's preparation. A joyous day; there wasn't much left to do and after overnight work, things have come together nicely. Everyone feels proud- even with the atrocious atmosphere and high tensions- so everyone works hard.

As said, there wasn't much to do. . .

The Prefect has somehow managed to steal five snacks from the Kitchen!!

The Prefect was caught walking around with a paper stuck to their back saying "I can't reach this paper!"

SUMMARY:

The Prefect chose to let the decorations be NRC themed- dark gothic, somehow.

The Prefect stopped two fights! Again. . . wow. Guess what? Same two people.

There's not much to say. Everything comes together really nicely.

Jack was having a good day. Key word being was.

The blot stares back at him, thick and unmoving where it lay splattered carelessly across the stone tiles. Blot. Of all things. Wasn’t seven enough already? Were they trying to set some kind of record?

For a moment, his thoughts drift to porous sand, dense enough to choke the lungs, and inky blackness pouring steadily from ashen skin.

Wonderful.

Jack sighs, low and weary as he turns away. The blot wasn’t his problem— thank seven’s for that.

…Though, really, it probably wouldn’t hurt to report it.

[Elliot Kane is not … great socially. He’s seemingly emotionless most of the time and very stubborn. He’s also very individualistic and hates being told what to do, especially from adults, hence the situation he’s in now.]

[Two people had walked up to him with grins, patting him on the back and shoulder. Already he did not like them.]

“Oi… frosh, you’re good at that Alchemy crap, right?”

“Ya see me and my buddy here are struggling a little and we could really use some help, so howsa bout you start giving us some of the answers from now on?”

“No.”

[One laughs, patience clearly thinning.]

“Haha… didn’t hear me the first time, kid? I asked if you can give us some answers, ya hear?”

“I am not giving you the answers. Frankly you’ve nothing to deserve them.”

[The other tsks his tongue and tightly grabs him by his hair.]

“Ain’t gonna ask again, rat. Hand em over or else yer sleeping in the infirmary tonight.”

Jack pauses before rounding the corner, his ears flicking toward the raised voices. He recognizes them-- two from his dorm, he thinks, the loud, meat-headed type that runs rampant through Savanaclaw. The third... is that quiet Heartslabyul kid from his homeroom. Elliot, if he's remembering right. His nose crinkles. ... He has a pretty good idea of what's going on. A thought, further confirmed by the sight of two of fellow Savanaclaw freshmen grabbing ahold of the boy by his hair.

Seriously though, in broad daylight?

Jack wasn't one to stick his nose where it didn't belong, but even this was too much for him to ignore. Besides, those idiots were only making Savanaclaw look bad.

Jack clicks his tongue, closing the distance in a few purposeful strides.

"Two against one. Really?"

”Hah?”

[The deliquent lets go of his hair, Elliot takes a few steps back while the other steps forward to meet Jack with a grin and crossed arms.]

“Ya got a problem with it, frosh?”

[The dormouse looks back and forth between Jack and the two other students, clearly frustrated. His hand hovers over his mage pen in case he’ll need it…]

“Howl! What’re you—“

“Quiet down, little mouse. We’re not done with you either.”

[He grumbles something and takes out his mage pen fully this time. If there’s any opening at all, he’ll find it. If there’s anything he’s good for, it’s getting out of risky situations. He’d much rather not see Jack hurt because of him.]

"... 'Little mouse'...?" He mutters himself, undisguised judgement coloring his tone. "Are you two grade schoolers?" Jack asks bluntly, taking another step closer. His gaze hardens as it settles onto their cocky expressions, irritation flaring.

… Seriously, no wonder people looked down on Savanaclaw if these were the kind of idiots that walked around in their colors.

His gaze flickers back to Elliot, lingering on the other's drawn mage pen. Good. At least he wasn't entirely incapable of defending himself.

“Tch, you think you’re tough?”

[The one that had spoken lunges forward to attack and it’s then that Elliot casts a spell, the almost ribbon-looking magic wrapping around his leg to trip him. He falls face first. The other delinquent was surprised and Elliot hurls a slightly weaker burst of light magic towards him.]

[He’s good at that too, the Heartslabyul student supposes, being able to quickly cast his spells.]

[He weaves past both of them and pauses at Jack’s side.]

“C’mon! While they’re recovering from the shock! I’d rather not stay around and waste my time getting into a fight with these two. Nor would I like the risk of injury.”

He blinks. Then blinks again. Okay, well, he guesses he's doing this now. Without another thought, Jack pivots on his heel and takes off after Elliot.

It's not as if he's a coward. Jack's well aware of the fact that if he had tried, he'd have easily beaten the two into a pulp, or at the very least put up a good enough fight to let the other slip away unharmed. But Jack is also not an idiot with too much pride to spare. If there was an opportunity to avoid a fight, he'd take it, and this was one hell of an opportunity.

Still, he had a reputation to keep up. "... Ya do know I could've handled that myself?"

“Your prowess in the field of battle is not lost on me, Howl but it’s as I said I would much rather not see you injured at all.”

[Eventually they round a corner and skid to a stop, pausing. Elliot looks back, taking a few deep breaths. Maybe a few of those sleepless nights are catching up to him.]

“Okay… I think they are far enough behind.”

He pauses. The level of concern was... appreciated, as odd has he found it, but ultimately unneeded. He could handle himself just fine. Still, he lets the retort die before it can leave his mouth. He'd stepped in for Elliot without a second thought. He didn't exactly have room to complain when the favor was returned. "Right." He clears his throat. "... So why were they pickin' on you?"

[Elliot sighs, clear annoyance seeping into his tone.]

“They wanted all of my answers from now on for Professor Crewel’s class, and I said no.”

“There’s nothing I hate more than people who think they can change others just because they believe they’re entitled to it.”

[He huffs and shakes his head.]

“No use being so angry about it now, though…”

Well, at least they could agree on that. Seriously, trying to cheat their way out of doing work… what idiots. As if Professor Crewel wouldn't catch on the moment he heard about it. "You should report it to Professor Crewel." His tail flicks idly behind him. "Knowin' those two, they ain't gonna stop after one failed try. Might as well save yourself the trouble."

[His own ears flick at that, and he hums. There’s a slight change in his tone of voice, almost a cheerful or proud one.]

“Ah yes, you’re right! Professor Crewel will most certainly take care of this.”

[The dormouse seemed to hold the Alchemy teacher in high regard and well of course he does. When one doesn’t have many good adults in life, you tend to cling to the ones that are.]

“Thank you for the suggestion and… thank you for intervening.”

"... 'Course. No problem." His words are short and clipped, with his tail falling limp behind him. Jack never really knew what to do say to these kind of things. A simple 'you're welcome' always felt so... cocky coming from him, while anything more sincere left him feeling strange and unsure of himself. Jack shifts his gaze to the side, fixing his attention on a nearby tapestry with an almost excessive amount of focus. "If you need some kind of witness or somethin', I can do that."

[It is not lost on Elliot how awkward the wolf acts and his own ears flick as he adds, fiddling with a strand of his hair.]

“I will be sure to… keep that in mind.”

[He rubs at his eye, sleepiness creeping up on him now of all times is annoying.]

“… If you want, I could walk you to your dorm? Was plannin’ on headin’ back myself.”

Jack offers, eyeing the other. Guess all that action must’ve tired him out, if the way he was rubbing his eyes was any indication. It makes sense, though— not everyone was used to brawling.

“…Uh. Um.”

His tail fluffs up behind him as he turns to the side, a faint scowl resting on his face.

“… No. Didn’t know that. Don’t go around talking’ ‘bout someone’s feelings without askin’ them first.”

Well he would never admit it cause he us a coward, but you can ask him if you want. Go on, ask.

“… Still ain’t a reason…” He trails off with a sigh. Some battles just weren’t worth picking, even for him.

“Don’t worry ‘bout it." Jack glances over at Gilmore, just once, before trailing his gaze back at the floor. It wasn't as if he didn't like Gilmore-- quite the opposite, actually. ... But knowing what he knew, while pretending he didn't… well, that wasn't exactly comfortable. If Gilmore wanted him to know, Jack would to hear it from him, he decides resolutely.

Oh, im sorry was Ezekiel being stupid again? I told him to leave you alone. Im gonna beat his ass i swear.

[Gilmore sighed but looked at jack with a fond smile]

Do you want to go get some food? I know a great barbecue place near by.

[Gilmore held his hand out to jack, hoping he'd take it]

He eyes the offered hand in silence. Turning it down now would just make things weird, and the whole point was to let Gilmore tell him in his own time. Jack slips his hand into the other's, careful not to grip too tightly. "Lead the way."

[Gilmore smiles happily and leads him to the place with a pep in his step, the whole time he was talking to jack, asking about track and work out routines that he could do so he could get stronger.]

See i know running is a good idea but it feels weird running alone, does that nake sense?

His ears flick as the other speaks, occasionally chiming in when he felt the need to, though he mostly keeps quiet, content to just sit back and listen.

"... Kinda. Not my sorta thing, though. Running's running no matter who's with ya."

It was true, for the most part. Jack did enjoy running with others, but he never particularly needed the company. Running had always been something he could enjoy perfectly well on his own.

Day 1 Summary

The Prefect does their tasks dutifully . . .

SUMMARY:

Work with the committee

Document choices via paper.

No Open House for student’s families.

Tickets will be priced.

Ticket prices will be ~10-20 madol.

The featured main performance seems to be a dance show over musical theatre.

Having spoken to many, the Prefect seems to have a good grasp — though many students

Prefect has stopped two fights — both between the same students.

Many students seem to think that the Prefect, a magicless, shouldn’t be doing all this . . . there’s an ominous aura in the air for everyone. Things are getting done… the banquet will come together. Left unsure of the prefect's decisions concerning things, rumors spiral that the Prefect may be the source of this ominous aura.

Day 2 Summary

The Prefect went to work once more.

The Prefect chases around the Lyles Twins for 30 minutes.

The Prefect made someone dump their packages on the floor everywhere.

The Prefect tripped earlier and spilled a bucket of paint somewhere but they won't say where.

SUMMARY:

Chosen to have canopy tents for the vendors and club set ups.

Each canopy tent will be around half a foot away from one another.

Club areas will be based around where the club's meetings are. (Spelldrive club in Savanaclaw dorm, Equestrian club near the field, Basketball club in the gym, etc.)

Around Main Street, the main choice of music will be pop.

NRC's Dress code will be formal and released tomorrow! Wonder what the Prefect is cooking up?

Once again, people seem unsatisfied with the Prefect's opinion, but faculty haven't said anything. Even Crowley seems to be overjoyed! but that just may be because things are getting done really quickly. The ominous air has only grown stronger, much more than before. Wonder where it's coming from?

The Prefect has stopped another two fights surrounding the same two students.
