ooc: GUESS WHO'S BACK FROM A HURRICANE?
Dread and regret—it was all he ever seemed to reflect on in moments like this. The howl that ruptured through his throat sliced through the air, burrowing his insides against the adrenaline that soared along his vein tracts. The melodic train of his cry echoed long after he’d closed his snout, and as he broke into hurried steps against the uneven ground, a sensation of astounding relief gripped his core. Tsume wasn’t going to admit he missed anyone—he was perfectly fine on his own—but that kid… that kid struggled with every fibre of Tsume’s stability.
There was the faintest trail of Toboe’s scent—so small, he still couldn’t pinpoint it, and as desperately as he wanted to rush, he paused to bury his nose along the invisible trails, trying to select the correct path. It was better to charge in carefully than lose this small opportunity and restart again. Toboe was somewhere near—patience better be worth the wait.
The scent grew stronger as he inched towards his left side; his nose drawing committed distinctions of the runt in fuller gulps. His golden orbs narrowed as they engulfed the visage of the harrowing forest only a few hundred metres away. It was against his instinct to charge forward with little inclination for risk of danger—but what was life unless he was ready to spill some blood in the process?
The kid didn’t sound like he was trouble—but as Tsume shot off into a greater speed than before, utilizing the pulsing adrenaline that fuelled his blood, he made note to track for foreign scents. Nothing was going to sneak up on him; not some filthy human and not a mangy inferior mammal, either.
Just sit there, he thought as his body passed through the opening trees of the forest. Just wait.
"Tsu-"
A flash of gray between two branches halted the copper wolf, clods of dirt rising before him as Toboe attempted to skid and turn simultaneously.
The pink flesh of Toboe's tongue drooped from his maw, the wind drying it almost immediately as he began to run and chase after that singular flash. Bushes were jumped and crashed through in the wolf's haste to catch that glimpse; bruises were forgotten, scratches from the less loving branches went ignored. All that mattered in the wild rush of Toboe's mind was the target of the chase. Every word, every insult, every brief show of affection; all ran through the wolf's mind as he bounded through the near-imperceptible trail Tsume had left as he'd run to where Toboe had called from.
I don't care if he calls me runt or teases me, Toboe called to any who'd listen to his prayer, the God Granny had so loved or the spirits Iyek's tribe believed in, Just please let it be him!!
All too soon the trees thinned to create a straight shot between Toboe and the end of the forest - where just before him, separated from the copper wolf by only a few yards, was the silver-furred wolf he'd long considered his closest friend. The tinkling of the silver bracelets that had chimed so rhythmically whilst Toboe ran faltered with his pace as the young wolf's chest heaved. Shocked nearly to stilling, Toboe slowed to a halting pace for a few steps.
This was real. A few steps and Toboe was loping. It wasn't an illusion. Two more strides and the overjoyed pup was sprinting, the chime of his silver rings and the dull impact of his paws against the hard earth the only warning of the incoming tackle Toboe aimed at Tsume's backside.
Have absolutely no idea what you're implying there, nope.
It's okay I'll just direct all this mental lust at you anyways.
TSU-ME.
"... Fine."
YEAH NO ONE KNOWS WHO THIS IS FROM
So, it's still TMI Tuesday. Anons, come out and play. Nothing is off limits.
TOB-MUN, WHY YOU NO KISS TSUME? >:( I WANTS IT NOW.
BECAUSE THAT WOULD MAKE THIS A KISS-QUADRILATERAL.
BLUEEEEEEEEEEEEE
"...Wait, wh - this is that thing that-"
Yes.
"But I don't -"
You like Blue, right?
"Well... Yeah,"
When you kiss someone, you're telling them you like them.
"Oh."
Send me a "✪" and i'll kiss whoever you ask.
Well, it looked like he was going to have to come out and say it. Both of them were withholding information, in fear that the other party would think badly of them.
And since Gehl had brought up the subject of shape-shifting, it ought to be him that spilled everything, as nervous as the very thought made him.
“It sounds crazy…I mean they’ve been extinct way since way before I was even born. But the more I think about it…” Gehl sighed deeply before finishing his train of thought, “The more I think about it, the more I think I saw Tsume turn into a wolf.”
So he had seen Tsume's true self. It didn't look as though there was any denying that, and Toboe wasn't entirely sure how he would have convinced the kid he hadn't. Not without calling his sanity into question completely, anyways. There was only one other option, then: play along.
Toboe's copper gaze rested on Gehl's expression, careful scrutiny marking his visage.
"What do you mean, you saw him turn into a wolf?"
frozen-essence started following howling-runt
Curiosity lit the young wolf's face as he turned to notice the girl following him. What an odd hair color - was that natural pigmentation for a human? Toboe had never before seen someone with such bright hair, or two-toned at that. "H... Hi there."
Send me a nightmare, if my character is scared of it, you win.
Her lips curved into a smile at the young wolf, she couldn’t help but find his reaction somewhat adorable and excepted from him. “I’m sorry Toboe.” she apologized for having him worry about her when that was the last thing she wanted. “Do you know where the others are?”
Toboe's mouth opened immediately to reply, but after a brief pause of silence the runt simply closed his mouth. "I... Found Tsume. But he was acting kind of... Weird." Toboe felt his face growing warm as a strange weight in his stomach flipped on itself. Weird was a bit of an understatement. "But I haven't found any of the others..."
ooc:
Like if I owe anything, please!! Things have been crazy over here.
He’d quickly denied anything suspicious, but Gehl felt a tug of curiosity. Usually he’d just let it slide, but he had been determined to find an answer for a long time, and this person didn’t seem too threatening.
“Hold on, it’s just…there were a few times I was with Tsume that I thought…. I thought he changed shape…”
This wasn't going well. If the boy suspected Tsume already... Well, if he suspected it and still liked Tsume, maybe it wouldn't be so bad. Toboe had always wanted a human friend not affiliated with the pack - maybe he could have one in this boy.
"Changed shape... Into what?"
