Will did not save Mileven. If anything he was trying to destroy it while flirting with El's boyfriend while she's risking her life to save said boyfriend's sister. Telling Mike to say what's on his mind didn't save them, it just gave El something to hold onto while she was fighting Vecna alone. They would have solved things themselves, they were fine when they reunited.
