It was fun to play somebody who has such strong convictions and opinions that are all completely ill-founded and misguided. But at the heart of it, you know heâs really trying to look out for his brother and give him some of the slings and arrows of the entertainment industryâŚHeâs somebody who is desperate for validation, and the second he gets that, it kicks right in to the hubris.
Cooper Anderson came into this world as a mistake, a fact his often reminded of. His mother Pamela got pregnant by a man she wasnât supposed to be with. Thankfully, that didnât stop her from ending up with Ranie Anderson, a man from a good background. Cooper was barely a few months old when they got married. Another year later, Blaine was born. Their parents pushed Cooper into being the very best. He took dance lessons, acting lessons, he was a champion fencer, he played different instruments, studied foreign languages. And in most ways he excelled, and that was because he was determined to show Ranie he could be an Anderson too.
Although Ranie adopted Cooper when he was a toddler, he often reminded Cooper had to earn the name. And earn it he did. The only thing Cooper didnât succeed at was school, he lost the focus for it and was even held back a grade in elementary school. But with stricter parenting and a proper tutor, Cooper soon was doing well enough to not cause too much concern.
Cooper saw how Blaine was held to a high standard too. Blaine was a full born Anderson, but he now lived in Cooperâs shadow. He felt bad for his success sometimes, knowing that Blaine would have to work even harder to prove himself. But Cooper did his best to always encourage Blaine and to be there for him. He was especially there for Blaine when he decided to come out. Cooper himself struggles with his sexuality but he has learned the hard way to keep who he is a secret.
When Blaine was attacked at the Sadie Hawkinâs Dance, Cooper was the first to find him. He was devastated to see his little brother hurt. He did everything he could to convince their parents that McKinely High School was the best option. Even if it meant leaving behind his friends, Cooper went with Blaine to try and protect him this time. He tries to keep an eye out on Blaine, and plans to stand up to anyone that gets in his way.
Cooper is now in his senior year at a new school, looking to get through the final year. Heâs worried about next year and what the future holds. His parents are encouraging him to apply to the very best colleges, ivy leagues that he doesnât really have the grades for or the desire to attend. He wants to move out to Los Angeles and become an actor. Ever since he was a kid, putting on made up plays with Blaine and kids from their neighborhood, Cooper has been chasing stardom. Heâs well known at the Westerville community theatre and was the lead in most of his high school plays. He thinks he has what it takes to make it big, but he fears what his parents will say and he also fears failure. It has been so driven into Cooperâs head to succeed that sometimes that littlest bit of stress gets to him. He can be self-destructive at times, but he does his very best at hiding this from his family and everyone around him.
Cooperâs family has a lot of money so he can dress very well. He enjoys being well kept and he likes having his clothes tailored when he is able to. He also enjoys leather or jean jackets. Fall is his favorite season, especially when it comes to fashion.

Cooper looked through a shoebox of photos his mother had hid away in the attic. He knew he wasnât supposed to have them, but the temptation was too much. It was late and nobody else was awake as he shuffled through all the pictures of his mother when she was younger, before he was born. He was searching for clues. She had to have a photo with his father, he just knew there had to be one reminder of who he was. The man was a mystery that lingered over his entire life. Yes, he had a dad who raised him and provided for him and most of the time they got along okay. He was thankful to be an Anderson because of all the opportunities he had. He knew if his mother had stayed with his biological father, things would be completely different. Still, Cooper had a natural curiosity from a young age.
His mother refused to talk about him, she would get upset the moment Cooper brought it up. The little he did know about his father, he learned from his aunt, who was still secretive about him.
âYour mother and him werenât supposed to be together,â she said, taking a drag of her cigarette. Cooper was around 12 at the time, and he was spending the day with his motherâs sister.
âLike Romeo and Juliet?â he asked innocently. She laughed and shook her head a little.
âNot exactly. There wasnât really any love there, just young rebellion. Your mother didnât like listening to what she was told until consequences came around,â she said. Cooper was confused. He always thought there needed to be love in order to have a baby, at least thatâs what he assumed from the limited information he knew.
âSo what happened to him?â he asked. She shrugged and put out the cigarette.
âWho knows. He left town shortly before you were born. No one was surprised except your mother. But it all worked out in the end.â Cooper had a million questions, but he learned quickly that this information was better than nothing and didnât press his aunt anymore before she snapped and got angry.
Cooper sighed at the memory and continued to look through the box and its contents. There were no love letters, no receipts from late night dancing, no indications that his mother was ever with anyone except his and Blaineâs dad. He wasnât sure why he got his hopes up. He had hoped that he wasnât just the byproduct of a young mistake, he was hoping that his mother had at least loved the man that was his father. But that didnât seem to be the case.
Just as he set the box onto the floor, a small and old photo slipped out. He reached down to grab it, frowning at the sight of it. It was a picture of his mother and some man, but the manâs face had been cut out. Not for malicious reasons, but it was cut out in the shape of a heart. The perfect size for a locket. Cooper smiled a little at the picture. Maybe things werenât completely hopeless. He kept the picture in a drawer beside his bed and hid the rest of the box away. It was a small piece, not even much really, but it was something.
He follows a lot of famous actors, directors, and other people in the business. He tweets almost daily. Itâs all about who you know in show business, and he wants to get his name out there.
