I need help from someone who knows about wood finish.
I got an all wood privacy screen from Home Depot and it arrived feeling very waxy and started to make my room smell bad. Being someone with chronic migraines and smell being a trigger for worse ones, and knowing that the waxy feel would not be good for what I got it to do, I moved it to my garage. We've been having high temperatures over 100° for over a week now, and it's been out there for a few weeks. The waxiness has changed, the corners are the most waxy and the rest feels a little more dry, but there's little bits of pilling all over it like the heat made whatever is causing the waxiness to bleed out of it (very likely, that sounds like something that would happen) and I'm not sure what to do.
I guess my question is, what do I do to make this thing no longer waxy? I assume I can just wipe off the pilling with a dry or lightly damp cloth, and I think the smell is done being a problem, I just don't know what to do about the waxy texture.
