Autoplay Ads and Chrome.

I actually don’t seem to have the autoplay audio issue because I solved that issue a while back with Cracked.com without the aid of adblock Here’s a way of fixing the issue without using adblock. 

Go to about:settings in the chrome search bar

Click on show advanced settings

Under Privacy go to Content Settings

Scroll down to Plug-ins

Check Let me choose to run plugin content

Now almost everything that involves a plugin will be blocked until you left click it and allow it to run. Several places where you would normally find ads will now depict a grey box with a puzzle piece in it. 

A few things to note:

Youtube videos are not affected, embedded or not. You can actually still support you’re favorite youtube creators like this.

Soundcloud, Bandcamp, and multiple other music sites are. What you can do is click on the puzzle piece with an X in the seach bar and allow the website to run plugins for that session only, or for any time in the future. Though if you do this, ads might still show up on that webpage.

Picture ads are also allowed to remain up. These don’t usually bother anybody, and by keeping those ads up and blocking the icky plugin autoplay ads out, we actually send a message to the sites we use, saying we hate autoplay, as opposed to we hate ads. 

We may very well hate ads, but thats not gonna affect the way advertisers work. The best way is to be selective about it.

Seriously though, the more people who use that, the worse things are going to get. I understand that these advertisements are terrible, but if we continue to block every ad we see, yahoo’s gonna take one look at tumblr and decide that it’s not worth keeping it anymore. Some people are going to respond to this with a “Yes, kill this blasted website!” But anybody who’s ever had their blog deleted knows the struggle that can come with a massive amount of content suddenly gone. I hate this website. It’s a terrible cesspool of memes and discourse, with staff barely capable of maintaining the site properly, but I’ve invested too much time and effort into gaining followers and writing long posts about cartoons to let it all go to waste. Besides, Twitter doesn’t allow long posts like this, and Facebook is used by all of our moms. Please, let Tumblr live.

someone give me a plot where muse a is living in this nyc apartment complex, and the apartment across the hall from her has always been empty, until one day she finally sees someone moving in. she introduces herself to the guy moving in, muse b, and is immediately attracted to him. before long, they end up going on a few dates, although muse b is hesitant at first, and at the end of the third date, muse a tries to invite muse b into her apartment for the night, but he declines. she’s confused and initially embarrassed, until he tells her that she should come into his apartment, because he has something to show her. they walk in and there’s a teenage girl on the couch. muse a is extremely confused now, especially when muse b introduces the girl as the babysitter. it isn’t until a tiny little two-year-old comes toddling around the corner that she realizes that muse b is a single father.

let’s get one thing straight here. i am a PERSON before i am a roleplayer. i am a FRIEND, a FAMILY MEMBER before i am a roleplayer. this means that sometimes i won’t have muse for a certain thread, or maybe i just don’t feel like replying right now. this means that i have every right to take my time replying, just as you do. this means that i come FIRST. i come BEFORE my replies. this means that sometimes things will get in the way of me replying. whether it be problems with family or friends or just something stupid, me and my personal feelings/problems come BEFORE roleplay. if i’m having an off day and only feel like responding to one or two things, or i’m tired and can only focus my energy on a specific thread, you should be okay with that. you, as my partner, need to take into consideration my feelings. some things are hard for me to reply to. some things take a lot more time, effort, and energy than others. sometimes i won’t be in the mood for that thread. sometimes i won’t be in the mood for any threads. this is nothing against YOU. this is just about me being a person with feelings, a normal human being who needs to sit back and relax and take a breather sometimes. so please, i’m begging you, do not take offense to me not replying to our thread right away. this is not because you annoy me. this is not because you aren’t good enough. this is not because i have no interest in roleplaying with you. this is just because i am a person and sometimes i get lazy. sometimes i am tired or have writer’s block. and that’s okay. all i ask is that you respect me and my muses by letting us breathe every once in a while.
