She wants to refuse. She has her work set out across the table as she finds it easier to concentrate that way but she knows it’s selfish to take up two seats. “No, you can – one second?” she asks, carefully gathering the graphs and charts from his side of the surface. “You can sit. If you wouldn’t mind being careful not to spill anything on my work” she asks with a hopeful smile before her eyes narrow on the man before her. “Have we met before?”
He waited patiently for her to move her things, smiling gratefully as he sat down. “Thank you. I’m sorry to be a bother, there isn’t anywhere else to sit” he explained, looking around the diner again. “I promise to be careful. Not officially, no. But I do some work on campus, you might have seen me around.”
