ARGH ITS FRUSTRATING BECAUSE I CANT FIGURE OUT HOW TO PUT CERTAIN THINGS IN ITALICS
THIS IS A VIDEO GAME SCRIPT I AM CURRENTLY WORKING ON.Â
((Brief description:Â A game of survival and cannibalism, Emily is a horrific adventure not for the faint-hearted. A young girl awakens suddenly in a cardboard box to be greeted by dismal rain and an unlit street of animal corpses. Previously an orphan, she feels sadness, but not despair to the situation she finds herself in, ââAfter all,ââ she says, ââIâve had worse.ââ. The sun has vanished from the sky, and at 2pm merely figures can be seen. Emily embarks on a journey of survival as the whole world begins to turn on each other, forced to feed off of corpses due to the lack of agriculture (since the sun can no longer power plant production). Emily possesses strange powers, that when manipulated, can allow her to communicate with her surroundings, including animals and elements. Â Emilyâs first mission is to feed, and after denying herself the only food available (human bodies), she is starving. Finally, she is forced to kill an old man sleeping, before eating his body and raiding his house. She soon befriends a scared guinea pig, Mabel. She is of use to her adventures, as she is able to squeeze into small places and assist her in finding sun shards, the only thing that can save Emilyâs world. Emilyâs adventure moves through town after town, before she comes upon her first shard of light, which is later revealed to be parts of the exploded sun. Emilyâs mission now becomes to gather up the pieces, before pushing them back into the sky using the magic resting inside of her. When she finds new shards, they join with her others to create a ball of light. The bigger the ball of light grows, the more itâs able to tell her about why it exploded in the first place, and where Emilyâs powers come from))
[Various graphic images and videos of the following description are shown. Sounds of rain and a depressing tune can be heard in the background as the images and videos are shown.]
Itâs September 3rd, 1990. A gloomy, somber afternoon has hit the town of Atherton, then again, there hasnât been a bright day since the vanishing. At 2pm, the sun in any regular world would be crawling slowly over the hills, providing the city with light and warmth and normality. For a few months now, nobody has seen a sight like that since June 17th. This day saw the sun, or rather the light pigments from the sun, suddenly vanish, and the solar system was left with a large, dead mass. Gravity remains in place, but the earth below became cold, dead and heartless. Lifeless bodies roam streets, their faces of melancholic expression. Most people are ill, disease spreads like rumor through each and every city, cursing the residents to incurable suffering. The downfall of the government meant that crime went unpunished, there is no reason for the government in such a world. The days are merely counting down to worldwide human extinction. Corpses lay in the streets, animals arenât to be seen. The trees are all bark, no leaves. Plants and shrubs are none existent. Animal bones litter alleyways and pile up in gutters. The smell is putrid, the sort of smell that even flies wouldnât be able to tolerate. The world has become the definition of hopeless.
Down an alley, no child should wander, is left an old dishwasher box. Inside, an orphan of age 8 shivers from the cold. After the epidemic, the childrenâs home in the city shut down completely, leaving the children in various hiding spots through the streets. It had become survival of the fittest, and children werenât an exception.
[camera pans to inside the box]
A girl is found inside. Her hair is a bright blonde, almost yellow. She wears a blue raincoat, a white dress underneath, the color indistinguishable under all the dirt. Her red boots reach her knees, and a dirty blanket covers her legs. Her eyes have a sunken, hollow look, and her cheeks are stained with blood from an unknown source. Besides her, is a note (untouched), and a bag filled with various items. The girl is hunched over, and shaking violently from a combination of fear and cold.
[The camera shows the point of view from the girl. The inside of the box, containing the note and the bag is darkly lit. An animation plays, as though eyes are opening and closing. The player becomes Emily, who is viewing her situation for the first time]
You dare not to move for a few minutes, after thinking about what would happen if you were caught. Youâd most definitely be taken hostage, and placed in a cell with everyone else from the orphanage, ready to be eaten alive by starving adults. Once youâre certain you canât hear any footsteps or noise, you fumble around in the darkness, your fingers resting upon the bag beside you.
[The player is able to select the bag]
After carefully unzipping it, you reach inside, and the first thing you find is a torch.
Emily: Oh, how thoughtful of them...I guess.
[The player presses the torch to turn it on, revealing the contents of the bag]
[The player is able is click on each item individually in any order]
[The player clicks on the plasters]
Emily: I suppose this could help if I get hurt.
[The player clicks on the chocolate bars]
Emily: Oh how lovely! They must have felt guilty about leaving me to offer such gifts!
Over the past few months, the orphanage taught Emily about the vanishing, and how food items were scarce. They also explained how eventually, she would have to fend for herself, therefore Emilyâs situation is no surprise to her.
[The player clicks on the box of matches]
Emily: I was taught never to play with matchesâŚ
[The player clicks on the packets of dried fruit and vegetables]
[The player clicks on the batteries]
Emily: Ah! For the torch?
[The player clicks on the photograph. It shows Emily as a baby, and her parents, who she was told died shortly in a car accident after her birth]
Emily: Oh mummy, daddy, youâre somewhat lucky you arenât alive now. Lucky lucky luckyâŚ
[Emily picks up the bag. It becomes her inventory. The torch spans to the note. The player is able to pick it up. Arrows are also available for the player to look around the box. The only other things the box contains are drawings on the side in crayon, The drawings show pictures of the children from the orphanage]
[The player selects the note]
Emily (stumbling on words): Dear Emily, we are sorry. But the time has come. You are special, your parents would be proud. Always do your best, and you will survive.
[The player can either put the note in their inventory or screw it up, keeping the note has no use later on]
Emily: If they think I'm scared, theyâre wrong.
Her voice says otherwise and wobbles slightly as she talks.
Emily: What have I got to lose?
[The player is now given the option to leave the box]
