Great Job Advocacy Team
A day as an Advocacy team member is draining! We must thank Team Advocacy for their leadership and teamwork. They set goals, created outreach strategies for signatures, created demonstrations, motivated each other and the team leaders spearheaded the overall organization of each of Advocacy's work sites. Those hoarse voices did not go to waste! Great job!
Community Harmony
Our Advocacy members are serious about the cause, but the team was still happy to interact with the public! As intense as the issue of gun violence is, the Advocacy team still had some smiles about the progress made toward the end of gun violence in Chicago!

Words from the Wise
While conversing with the public, our members were even able to enjoy some words from the wise and reenergize from older generations' encouragement. Here are some quotes from some of the community members to our A-Team:
"It's good to see young people out here trying to make a difference."
"Normal people don't get anything done. You gotta be radical."
Talking with Roderick Hawkins, Vice President of External Affairs for the Chicago Urban League
Demonstrations
Our A-team was proud of the new record, but on that one day alone, 9 Chicago residents were shot. 700 students were shot last year, and the numbers are rising. Team Advocacy decided that they must do justice to the communities affected by conveying to the public exactly how serious the issue was.
In addition to asking for signatures, our Advocacy members marched through downtown Chicago chanting, publicly demonstrating the effects of gun violence and passing out information in order to educate people about the cause.
Some of Advocacy's chants:
“New legislation for gun registration!”
“5831! Register your gun!”
“Stop the silence! Nonviolence!”
“We want peace in the streets!”

Petitioning
Team Advocacy shows their compassion and dedication everyday by speaking to members of the community. The A-Team recites facts, explains the law, sometimes chats about the cause and asks for signatures.
