Wayne Whisker found a mouse by the side of the road in a coach wreck. She had no memories of her life before that moment, and she tailed along with Wayne across states. He gave her the name "Bell", after her clear singing voice. It was Wayne who gave Bell the idea of making a name for herself in the big city as a performer, so that maybe someday someone would recognize her, and she would find where she belong. Wayne took up work outside of the state once Bell had feet to stand on and a couple acquaintances in the city - one of them being the rat Leonardo DiParmigiano. With Wayne gone, Leo became Bell's anchor as she was still so new to the world, doing a lot of things for the first time. Leo in turn found himself caring a lot for Bell, soon developing a deep affection for her. Bell, focused on finding her past, could not allow herself to give herself to somebody - how could she do such a thing when she doesn't even know who she truly is?
