It's been a while huh

This is my first year spending the month of Ramadhan on my own, I suppose it has its own kind of peace..

I have a voicemail saved on my phone from a time my late father left me a message to come pick me up at the train station after arriving from the airport.

And now every single time I return home, I kind of listen to that message just to hear his voice again.

I miss him.

My father passed away on the 21st of Ramadhan last year and it’ll forever be a date that I drown myself with tears. The sadness of the martyrdom of Amirul Moumineen (as) and losing my father. I feel the grief the children of Ali felt seeing their father on a deathbed.

It was so important for me to get to Najaf as soon as I could after last year and Alhamdulilah I managed to go in December with much difficulty. But no regrets whatsoever. Najaf is home.
