The 2017 Corn Palace is . . . woke? The theme this year is "South Dakota weather," but a plausible reading of three main panels suggests the real subject is climate change.

Yesterday in the #Bronx. #MelroseHouses
Getting a jump on the dog days of summer.
Last night in the #Bronx at the candlelight vigil for Jaheen Hunter, the 5-year-old struck by a stray bullet earlier this week.
Bodega cat keeps an eye on Rosie while I hunter-gather two-eggs-on-a-roll for daughter. #dadding
#Mississippi Civil Rights Museum preview. Doris Derby's camera will be on display when the museum opens in December. Derby worked in the movement in Mississippi for most of the '60s and also documented it. The 2nd photograph is one of her most well-known pictures: a health clinic in the Delta in '68. The 3rd picture is an awesome portrait of the MS activist June Jordan.
Slave house ruins at Kingsley Plantation, just outside Jacksonville, FL.
Battery Park yesterday. #nobannowall
Train station at Drancy. #holocaustremembranceday A Paris suburb, #Drancy was the site of an assembly and detention camp for Jews during WWII. More than 60,000 were sent to the camps on trains from here, most all of them to #Auschwitz.

It's been weird watching my portrait of @repjohnlewis flying around Twitter these last few days. Used in tweets by detractors as well as admirers. Always cropped (as far as I've seen). So I might as well get in on the action. Here's the full-frame image, made on July 25, 2007, on the small balcony outside his office. It appears in my book Breach of Peace: Portraits of the 1961 Mississippi Freedom Riders. #goodtrouble

Need-to-know information in Mississippi in the early 1960s. Just posted to the invaluable Civil Rights Movement Veterans website. See the full list of numbers at http://www.crmvet.org/docs/000000_sncc_ms_jails.pdf
Yesterday in the Bronx. #morrisania @cocoonbykatebrowne
In the Bronx for another workshop with @cocoonbykatebrowne. Alejandro is adding prints from our last workshop to the portrait wall. We're at Morrisiana Air Rights all afternoon, with pizza and dominoes, making portraits and recording oral histories. Drop on by.
