Finally leaving hospitality. It feels like I can finally breathe again.
No one ever talks about the crazy transition from retail/hospitality work to office corporate job.
Here is my experience so far from someone who left their 7 year job (first job since school) in hospitality.
I can go to the toilet when I need to and not worry about leaving the desk during a mad rush
They are super understanding if I get in late, they’re just like “it’s okay the bus was late it’s not your fault”
The team is super kind and helpful
I got a welcome gift box. Got branded water bottle, notebook, lanyard, stress toy. And cookies
I can have a drink at my desk and drink it when I want (no cold coffee, no one drinking from my bottle)
I can just email my manager if anything is wrong and she’s chill about it
I have access to my holidays and can take them when I essentially want (within reason)
I get to have my weekends back
I get my bank holidays
If I make a mistake I’m not belittled or shouted at everyone is understanding
I can snack at my desk
We don’t get told off for chatting or having a joke (first day everyone thought I was really shy because I just had my head down(I suffer from social anxiety as it is but still) )
If I have an issue with payroll I can just email the right department not go though like 5 people to ask the right person
I actually know who runs the company
HR are really nice and helpful
No one gets mad when there isn’t work, like they asked me why I sled for cleaning stuff because I was so used to cleaning when we were quite 😅
Anyway that’s from like 3 weeks of working my new job, I’m still a little on edge but I really like my corporate job
My corporate girly era is starting and I love it 💕
Heading into the office for day 4. Channeling my inner nyc model - friendly and fun, effortlessly chic, messy French girl hair and dark sunglasses.
