Places of Power
The Crossroads: an area and gateway between the worlds suitable towards pacts, meetings with spirits and spells that have to do with the living in certain ways. The three way crossroads is dedicated towards Hekate, the Four Way Crossroads to Hermes. Both are Psychopompic Spirits. Acts of necromancy and spirit divination are also best done at this area.
Caves/Natural Caverns/Holes: In Greek Mythology, these are direct pathways to the Underworld, and thus one should consider these places as holy for the artes of necromancy, spirit work, Nekyia (a ritual of sacrifice to obtain knowledge from the shades of the dead) and Katabasis (Venturing into the Underworld, done physically in most legends but can also be interpreted as a spiritual pilgrimage).
Seas - certain spirits reside in the seas, some that are very potent for curses, healings, divinations and more. Depending on the spell itself, the times where the coastline is attended is either at high tide or low tide. Sea Magick is also best called upon under the Guidance and Influence of the Moon. Like a Cave, there are also a certain amount of spirits of the dead that reside in the waters.
Wells and Holy Springs: Besides the fact that some springs are considered holy in some practice or another, or folk belief and legend, they also serve as a refuge for certain spirits. A tainted well is suited towards curses and magicks relating to particular infernal spirits.
Churches (Still in Use): Churches have their own shares of spirits and demons, to some it is a refuge of the saints and spirits. For others, it is a place of power where the energy can be tapped for both malefic and benefic powers. Spells done here generally take many forms from the lighting of vigil candles to certain ends (being empowered by the way of the church), to doing particular rituals at certain masses.
Graveyards and Cemeteries: Under the guidance of Princess Death, and Her Many Spirits, the Cemetary is an apt place for any arts of necromancy, or magick in general. It is best undertaken with a thorough amount of knowledge on graveyard etiquette, the ability to distinguish between active and inactive graves and the spirits that wander there.
Stagnant Lakes or Still Water: a suitable space for summonings of various spirits, generally those considered malefic. It can also be used in acts of divination where the moon falls onto the water. It also has the certain ability to bring patience and stillness.
Running water is a place for cleansing, the spirits there have the ability to break up and wash away or bring in. The general consensus is that if you stand at a river and it flows towards your abode, the river can bring you items. If you stand further down the same river and it flows away from your home (so after your home), then it can take away.
Churches (Abandoned): This is an area that can be suited towards any form of spellwork, still having some degree of power in the arts of Holiness but various spirits that couldn't walk into the church then can walk into it now.
Forests: under the dominion of various spirits, the Forest makes due place to work many forms of magick. A pile of stones can be erected in the forest as a place of worship where offerings can be given. The deeper in the forest one goes, the more they come to the Primal Forces. One can also do magick under or using the plants, trees or animals of the forests. A further idea to be kept is that the forest should never be entered without making offering, lest you become deceived and taken off the beaten path. Areas that are death-stricken (with rotting animals, dead weeds, plants, dried trees, dead grass, no animals go there) should be approached carefully but the powers there can be called upon in potent curses. Areas that are thriving with life generally have a good general power.
