M!A: Your arrows are now all uncooked noodles. Your bowstring, a strand of floppy, rubbery overcooked spaghetti.
“….What?” Rebecca looked down at her bow, and sure enough, the bowstring was just about worthless. As soon as she touched it, it broke, leaving her brow decidedly unstrung and the arms curling back the wrong way. “No way! I just restrung it, too…” Deflated, she slumped on the ground, holding the useless bow. “I was going to go hunting! Now what I am going to cook?”The rattle in her quiver made her look down, and she discovered that her arrows had become useless, too. It was uncooked linguini, as far as she could tell. Confused, she picked up one of the noodles and turned it in her hand. “…Huh. Problem solved, I guess!”
Lowen had been patrolling camp when he heard a dismayed cry nearby. Recognizing the voice, he called:
“Rebecca?”
Rebecca looked up from her quiver full of pasta. “Sir Lowen!” She gave him a slightly startled look. “You’ve caught me just as my equipment –” she motioned at her bow “– started, uh, having problems. It seems someone has cursed me…” She couldn’t help but to feel disheartened, because she really had just restrung her bow. She was still learning, and it hadn’t been an easy task. And now, all that time had been a waste, because she would have to do it again.
Lowen frowned as Rebecca attempted to explain her problem. He could only just make out the shape of the bow, but no finer details, in spite of how close he now was to her.
“I-if it’s alright with you,” he started, hesitantly holding out a hand, “I-I mean I have no real skill in archery myself but if I could inspect your equipment to see what the problem is--perhaps, um, a second opinion may help at least?”
As he spoke, Lowen wanted to kick himself and take back everything he just said for being as pompous as he sounded. Of course Rebecca should know what she’s doing--she was the archer, not him, and it would stand to reason that she should know better than he at how to maintain the weapon. Lowen gritted his teeth behind pursed lips as he prepared for indignation on her part.
Have you known your mother? If so, what was your relationship with her like? If not, do you wish to have known her?
The question caught Lowen off-guard, and he paused to think about it. He didn’t remember his mother very well beyond a hazy recollection that there was a point in his young childhood that a woman was still around; Lowen couldn’t even say for sure if she was his mother or someone who worked with his father–or possibly both. He didn’t even remember what happened to her. Not out of spite, but he couldn’t even say he particularly cared, beyond some strange feeling of nostalgia.
“Um… I didn’t really… know her that well. At all. If she’s still alive, I’m, uh, not really sure how much I’d like to m-meet her. …I hope she’s doing well, though,” Lowen said, cringing slightly at how callous he sounded.
*munch, munch*

Lowen had been patrolling camp when he heard a dismayed cry nearby. Recognizing the voice, he called:

Amelia walked up to the green haired man, quite certain she'd never met him before in her life. A little timidly she held a fresh plate of cookies out towards him. "Ah- hello, you look like a rather nice fellow. I was wondering if you could help me out of this jiff. A mage has ordered me, to find someone such as thee, who I have not met. Which sent me into a bit of a fret. I had to bake these cookies sir, I hope you will like them, monsieur."
Lowen looked towards Amelia, whose manner of speaking was a bit amusing.“Ah…” Lowen said, the smell of the cookies wafting over to him. He wasn’t terrifically fond of sweets in most capacities, but he could easy stomach even the richest of them if he so wanted to. However, he felt a bit awkward simply accepting a whole batch. Were they made for him?“Um, are you certain?” Lowen asked, “I-I certainly don’t want to intrude–are these for everyone?”
Do you tend to argue with people, or avoid conflict?
“I, um, try to avoid confrontation,” Lowen replied sheepishly (not wholly aware that he was plenty bull-headed when he wanted to be). It wasn’t a particularly knightly trait of his, but there was never anything wrong with picking your battles wisely.
Update on the Easter Egg hunt
Lowen murdered Yarne in a blind rage.
“I’ve hidden Easter eggs, everyone! See if you can find them!”
Lowen, who’d up until the announcement, had a rare restful day, suddenly found himself anxious over the state of the eggs.
“You can’t simply leave those lying around!” he cried, indignant, “wild animals might find them, or they could spoil or break--where did you put them?!”
The Basics are Not Enough (Nowi)
Lowen paused to take a much-needed break after the latest set of spear thrusts of the day; he had no intention of simply lazing about though. He’d slowly been increasing the number of reps for every set of spear thrusts (Marcus’s reprimanding about doing the “bare minimum” was still fresh in his mind). However, while he’d certainly found himself getting stronger and more fluid, Lowen couldn’t help but feel like something was slipping, and that, perhaps, he was getting too comfortable with the motions.
Unacceptable.
Complacency led to carelessness, which could easily lead to his—and, more abhorrently, a comerade’s—death in actual combat. Before he could work himself up into a proper state of panic, Lowen realized that there was a potential solution. It wasn’t a perfect one by any means, since lives would (hopefully) not be on the line, which took a bit of the edge off. However, arranging for a sparring partner would be an excellent way to improve not only his form, but potentially that of a fellow soldier.
Lowen eagerly began listening to the sounds of the training grounds, in the hopes of finding a suitable sparring partner. Someone just enough above his skill level to allow him to learn, while not so much so to absolutely devastate him.
Nowi had been visiting the Outrealms, and was looking for a training partner herself. She noticed Lowen, scanning the area, seemingly looking for a partner. She pranced up to him and looked up at his face. Then, came the fateful question…
"Hey, mister! You like dragons?"
Lowen paused when he’d heard tiny footsteps approaching, flinching anyway when the voice presumably belonging to the one approaching him ended up being louder--or closer--than he’d anticipated; it seemed to belong to a young child, which was odd. Of course, the question caught him plenty off-guard as well. Dragons? He failed to grasp how such a question would even be relevant. “Hmm, I d-don’t know?” Lowen replied, regaining his composure slightly and trying to humor the apparently young girl, “I haven’t really given them much thought... I mean they are creatures of legend and such!” He had thought about them a lot when he was younger and more timid--those beasts of destruction and fury--but he’d mostly forgotten those fears to more... practical ones when faced with more tangible conflict and hardships.
A-anyway--” he started, scratching at the side of his neck, as if to ward off the distracting train of thought, “--I don’t recognize you--should you even be here? You seem rather young to be a soldier.”

It started with a torn corner and then it became my life.
"If empty lies the stomach, empty too lies the heart! Please remember this from now on!"
There is arguably no minor FE character that I unexpectedly love more than Lowen. His fringe is so long he looks kind of sleepy in his portrait and while that’s cute in it’s own way I don’t generally go for it. That is not who he is though. He’s anxious, almost neurotic, with an odd fixation on food. He takes everything too seriously and is earnest and modest.
Wasn’t til Eliwood Hard Mode that I realized he’s Oswin on a horse. He has monster luck, and as much defense as Sain and Kent put together. Sain hits harder, and Kent crits like magic, but Lowen can stand there and take of enemies all day long. Isn’t even winded by the end….needless to say I took all three of them to Final Chapter that go around….it was EPIC…although I’m probably not going to do that again.
So thank you Lowen, my darling protector and your sorrel steed, whom I choose to call Maybelle.
The sarcasm is thick in Eliwood’s voice. It bleeds into the text even.
I’m built tough, you know
slayed a dragon once
"Lowen!"
"What? What is it?" Lowen asked, surprised the young bard had greeted him at all, "do you need something to eat?"
Nil’s comment took him by surprise, and Lowen paused momentarily, unsure of how to react.
"O-oh, do you really think so—?" Lowen asked, quickly silencing himself out of anxiety. Surely Nils was just being nice or… mocking him; frowning, he looked down and resumed working, quickly finishing a sandwich for Nils.
"…er, I-I hope it’s to you liking, young bard!" Lowen exclaimed as he handed it over, looking expectantly at Nils. It was far from an achievement in cuisine, but all that really meant was that he’d eat it if Nils wouldn’t and make a different sandwich. Perhaps even ask Nils what he wanted on it.
"Yeah! In the dragon realm Ninian and I never really had to make food. She was an oracle there so others would just bring us food." He took the sandwich and bit into it happily. He didn’t really dislike any food so he was very pleased with it. "Thank you, Lowen." He said with a smile when he had gotten halfway through the food.
Lowen flushed at the mention that, at least where these dragon children came from, Ninian was so important that both she and Nils were provided for. It made him feel inadequate suddenly, in spite of the apparently-sincere thanks Nils had offered him.
"Um, p-please don’t corncern yourself I—!" Lowen said, standing up abruptly to reach for his ration bag, "I mean, it’s what I’m here for! Please be patient with me—I’ll prepare something more suitable for you."
