What is your opinion on naming weapons?
He takes in a deep breath to carefully consider the question and blinks slowly at the clouds before letting it out in a long sigh. "Master Karel has a habit of naming his weapons. Before I knew him, I might have told you it was a foolish past-time, a hobby for a child."
He bites his lip and, without even thinking of it, thumbs the hilt of his sword with a small nervous tremble. "I do not know any longer how I think on named weapons. When Master Karel whispers softly to his blade, I feel not even the slightest trace of ridicule as I used to; no longer can I say that the act has any association with childhood to me." He reaches up a hand, and he is clawing at his cheek and neck, but doesn't appear to have noticed; his braid slides over his shoulder and swings against his back.
"I. . . I think. . . ." he starts, and pauses; he stutters a few more aborted croaks before he settles on his chosen words. "I- I think. . . I think I don't like it anymore. I think I'd. . . . I'd prefer if fewer people did things like that."
He breaks the skin along his neck and a minuscule amount of blood trickles into his collar. He still has not noticed.
"Don't name your weapons," he whispers, eyes distant and focused on nothing.
Hey, uhhh... I got yer sign saying you'll answer sex questions and.... uhh... is it normal for me to bleed down there? I don't really have people to talk to about this. I-I'm kind of confused.
"…"
Inigo’s eyes widened at the mere mention of blood as he put a hand on Guy’s shoulder. “My friend…I don’t know much about that but I would advise you go see a healer straight away. I only know it’s never ever a good sign.”
At hearing the mere suggestion of seeing a healer, Guy let out a strange, guttural croak. "N-no, no no no!! That is out of the question!!" He slapped his hands over Inigo's mouth and glanced wildly around them.
He leaned in to his hands over Inigo's mouth and hissed, "I don't want ANYONE ELSE to know, s-s-so you better not TELL anyone, g-got it?! Got it?!"
Then he sighed and his shoulders slumped. "I-I just... I mean, you don't know who I am. S-so that's perfect. Just tell me what's wrong a-and I'll handle it myself!" He covered his face with one hand, trying and failing to hide the embarrassed blush filling up his cheeks.
Lucius’s smile only grew brighter, seeing the look on Guy’s face. He chuckled softly. “Just don’t get carried away, my friend,” he said as he began his way back to a veggie market.
"I will. You don’t have to worry about me at all, Guy!" he…
He blinked slowly and took another look at the bottles. “Oh, now that you mention it, I did notice that restaurant meat always tasted different. I always thought it was because it’s not rabbit.”

Lucius’s smile only grew brighter, seeing the look on Guy’s face. He chuckled softly. “Just don’t get carried away, my friend,” he said as he began his way back to a veggie market.
"I will. You don’t have to worry about me at all, Guy!" he called back happily. With that, Lucius turned his attention to the vegetables, grabbing everything he knew he’d need to make something decent. Then finally, a small bit of oil and seasoning for Guy’s meat (whatever he’d end up picking).
He returned swinging a slab of ham from a string and a wrapped parcel on his arm, positively vibrating with enthusiasm.
"I can't believe I never looked into the market before! All these years of buying meat from restaurants or hunting animals in the forest! Like a loser! And here are all these delicious meats right next to the restaurants, and they even cost less. Bah!" He blushed and buried his nose into his shoulder, maneuvering carefully around his meat. "F-forgive my manners. This is a-a-an exciting discovery. Revolutionary! Earth-shattering!"
His eyes grew a little wild again and he bit his lip, blushing harder in embarrassment, and moved closer to Lucius. "I've gone and bought these already, so you go take care of yours too," he mumbled cautiously, slipping his coin purse into Lucius's hands. "What have you got there, anyhow?"
He peered curiously at Lucius's selection, not recognizing the things Lucius had selected. Some sorts of vegetables, must be. Some bottles? What are bottles for?

Guy could feel the clouds rolling back in the sky and letting in the sun the second he laid eyes on his old army mate, and was making eager strides toward the man before he'd even thought himself through. "Lowen, my main man! How are things? You cooking anything right now? Any chance I could have something?" It was probably in bad form to blatantly lick his lips, Guy thought while he blatantly licked his lips.
Lowen was a bit surprised at Guy’s sudden barrage of questions and requests, and subconsciously angled away from him. “Ahh… I’m… fine?” Lowen replied, “and I’m not… cooking—” he was a knight first, after all, “—b-but I’d be happy to share some food with you if you want…?”
"Always glad to hear you say that, buddy!" He slung an arm around Lowen’s shoulders affectionately. "You got anything with meat? You know the deal— piece of meat for me, I buy you a drink at the next inn!" He gave a light little nuzzle. "You’re always so quiet, you know, for a generous guy? You sure everything’s alright with you?"
He tried to discern Lowen’s mood, but he couldn’t see the man’s expressions very well through his crop of untamed hair. Sometimes it was difficult to tell if the guy was really shy or if he secretly hated everyone and was too polite to say so.
Eh, what the hell— this was how Lycian men behaved, right? They were much more open about their thoughts than Sacaens were. Lowen would definitely tell him if he was secretly scowling under that hair! Probably it was okay to ask him for a sparring or wrestling match later. What a great guy Lowen was!
Lowen sort of hunched on reflex when guy wrapped his arm around him—it tickled—and listened to Guy prattle on. Well, he suppose a drink couldn’t hurt, though he wasn’t sure what General Marcus would think of his getting drunk. Would he be reprimanded?
Lowen was about to reassure Guy that, yes, he did carry jerky in his rations and, no, he didn’t expect anything in return, he was shocked into silence by Guy nuzzling him and to a lesser extent, his describing Lowen as “quiet”; it was far more common that he would be reminded to watch his volume, what with his tendency to shout when overexcited. Of course, Lowen supposed that, if he never went out of his way to speak to someone, they’d just naturally assume he was quiet; on that note, he began to wonder if Guy was usually this affectionate or only when he was getting what he wanted.
Turning away to hide the fact that he was blushing, Lowen replied, “Um, yes, everything’s quite fine with me, ahh… I—” he paused worrying he might be too blunt, and deciding it would probably wasn’t worth worrying too much about in this instance, “…mmm, it’s just, people actually more often complain that I’m too loud…”
"Sir knight! Sir knight!" Guy drew his arm in tighter, intending to bring Lowen closer to him but pulling himself to Lowen instead. "A smith of the kitchen should feel no need to silence themselves in the presence of people who nourish themselves on your work! It makes me angry just to think of it! You should talk as loud as you would like!!"
His voice was reaching pretty loud volumes itself, but he found he couldn't really stop himself. It must have had something to do with his empty stomach. "Never ever be afraid to live your dreams, do you understand?" he added as he clutched onto the man's chest, his head clanging painfully against the studs of the man's underarmor.

He dropped his hands in alarm and held them up in surrender. “Gah—!! S-sorry, I wasn’t really thinking— I didn’t mean to drag you around— That is—” he cleared his throat and stopped that train of thought before he made a bigger fool of himself. “You don’t, ah, have to get meat for me, it’s, ah, it’s quite alright!”
He eyed the various meats they passed; it was his favourite food group, but he could put aside his personal preferences for his friends. He nodded proudly to himself and decided it would be far better to eat the same foods as Lucius and make cooking easier to boot! “You know, my tribe actually eats mostly vegetarian food, so I would feel right at home!” he added, with a great failure to remember that nomads seldom had a good hand at farming. “And you can buy your favourite ingredients— the finest! The freshest! I, Guy of the Kutolah, have brought my last paycheck and will gladly cover all your expenses!”
He remembered at the last moment that brandishing his wallet for the marketplace to see would probably not be the wisest choice, and grabbed his tunic closed.
Lucius chuckled softly, holding a hand up in protest. “Please, there is no need to change you diet just for the night, only because I am present.” The monk put a hand softly on Guy’s shoulder as he guided him back to one of the butcher’s stands. “I insist. Get any meat you want. You deserve to eat what you want, too!”
He pursed his lips, twisted up the grin that threatened to break across his face again. "Y-you really mean it?"
He could hear the voice of his mother reminding him about manners and imposing on others, but at the same time the smell of fresh meat around the market was delicious. Thinly-sliced tender beef, large slabs of fresh ham, roasted poultry strung up in a row dripping in sauce--
"I'll just-- Uh, j-just, I'll be just a moment," he muttered quickly to Lucius, and ducked quickly over to grab a few choice pieces of meat. "G- GRAB SOMETHING YOU'D LIKE, TOO!" he called over his shoulder, remembering at the last moment why they were there to begin with.

He couldn’t stop his face from splitting into a huge grin at the news. “Oh, wow— really? You could— I mean—” He tried to wrest his face back into a neutral expression, and when he couldn’t keep the flushed grin from returning, he hid his face behind his hand, flushing harder from shame. “I’d hate to put you to the trouble, i-it’d… be terrible of me to impose on you like that…”
Even as he said this though, lifting his hand at opportune moments so his voice wouldn’t be muffled, his other hand grabbed eagerly at the monk’s forearm as he sought out the local market district, and he could feel parts of his smile peeking out where his hand couldn’t hide it.
Lucius smile quickly turned into a look of mild stress as he was suddenly tugged by his forearm through town into the market district. he groaned, pulling himself free from Guy’s grip and straightened himself back up, quickly regaining his sense of peace and joy. “I’d be happy to cook for the both of us!” he said brightly. He could see the tiny points of Guy’s smile, poking over the hand Guy was using to try and cover his face. “Now, let’s first find vegetables and then we’ll see about meat for you, sound fair, Guy? I hope you brought money!

Ahoy the World! || open
It was a forest - something that Matthew wasn’t unfamiliar with, per say, but rather, the forest itself. It wasn’t similar to the forests of Lycia, or even the Dread Isle, which led him to believe that he must be somewhere else. He peered around with curious eyes, It was a strange place, oddly bright for such an eerie atmosphere, but Matthew shrugged. However, it didn’t stop his hand from slipping towards his waist.
The quiet unsettled him, much more since the fight with Nergal. He had grown up within House Ostia, which wasn’t the quietest place to begin with, and back then, he hadn’t been so bothered… until Nergal’s morphs came into the picture. Nowadays, it was simply just on the occasion itself - especially when he was alone.
There was a rustle in the trees, and Matthew whipped around with a dagger in his hand, but he blinked as a bird flew out. He paused for a second, before laughing. He put the dagger back, and sat down next to a tree. Perhaps it was time to take a break, if he was so unsettled. He closed his eyes for a moment, letting himself listen to the world around him.
And then he opened his eyes. Where was he, anyway?
Guy was starting to reconsider his earlier decision to go wandering off into the forest alone, especially since he had yet to get used to this strange new environment in whichever world he was in. At this point, he'd gathered that there was an amount of time travel involved? It was all very confusing, and the confusion wasn't helped by being lost in a bloody strange forest.
He heard a strange otherworldly sound some distance off, and shrunk his footsteps, the way Ma-- . . . the way that damned thief had taught him. He thumbed the hilt of his sword instinctively, taking comfort in its presence at his hip while he maneuvered his way silently toward the source of the sound, avoiding dry leaves and small twigs that might give him away.
Somewhere above him, a bird must have gotten alarmed by his presence because it flew away noisily, and he froze, cursing himself silently for his mistake; and, much closer than he'd estimated, he started to hear laughter.
He honed on the sound before it stopped and slipped quietly toward it; something about the timbre of it made the hairs on the back of his neck stand up. He was close enough now to feel another person's presence, could hear the sound of the person's clothes as they moved. His thumb on the hilt of his sword tightened with resolve; he'd never successfully ambushed anyone before, and the reality of possibly having to face an enemy on his own was starting to hit him. He took a deep breath and swallowed his fear.
In one quick movement, with all the speed of his myrmidon training, he drew his sword and leapt toward the stranger. "HALT!" he cried (did his voice crack a little just then?! Ignore it!) "Who goes there, stranger?!"
And then he saw who it was, and he dropped his sword. "Ma-- Matthew!" he croaked.
Dinner Party for Two || Guy and Lucius
He scratched his chin sheepishly as he strolled down the street of the village, peering into various shops and restaurants as they passed. Every so often, he stole a glance to the person beside him to make sure they woudn’t be separated by the crowds, but Lucius always managed to keep a measured pace beside him.
He scratched his chin sheepishly and resisted the urge to clear his throat, because he didn’t even have anything to say. Dread his impulsive habit of inviting people for food or drink! Not that it wasn’t a blast most of the time, especially with the younger fellows of Caelin and Ostia who enjoyed a generous drinking buddy, but the Lycian clergymen were so far out of his range of experience and understanding he didn’t even know where he could step.
Er, figuratively.
The sidewalks in this town were well-worn with age and use, but they were still quite clearly marked.
When they’d cleared the entire row of his usual haunts and he realized none of them could guarantee a vegetarian meal, he turned slowly to his companion, head hung. “S-so sorry, Lucius, I uh… I guess I didn’t really get to know the areas around town that well yet.” He fought the urge to curl into himself in shame and instead pulled his head back to meet Lucius in the eye (why was he so much shorter than so many people? D-darn Lycians!). “I-If there’s somewhere you’d like to dine instead, I would raise no objections! By my honor, I will pay for you to eat your fill, and we sh… we shall have a pleasant conversation and catch up!!”
Then the words that left his mouth reached his ears and he could feel his face flush with heat. It was too late to take it back now; he’d only make himself look worse. He pursed his lips and stared hopefully at Lucius’ face, searching for a response.
Lucius was mainly silent, keeping a small distance between him and Guy. He honestly hadn’t expected the swordmaster in training to invite him out but still, not wanting to be rude a decline, the monk accepted. his gaze drifted from side to side of the street. As the night progressed Lucius’s fear had sadly become a reality with a severe lack of places serving vegetarian dishes. He sighed but gave Guy a heartly smile. “Don’t worry. my friend. We don’t need to eat out. I’m more than capable of cooking for the moth of us should it come to that.”
The monk pulled his hair back out of his face, lining it behind his ears and patted Guy on his shoulder. “Why don’t we go head into the market district and try and find something?” he suggested softly.
He couldn't stop his face from splitting into a huge grin at the news. "Oh, wow-- really?
