9. What does your muse think of time/aging? Does getting older scare them? (Alternatively, for immortal muses: How does their immortality effect their relationships with mortals?)
“Time is our greatest ally.Â
“The ever encroaching end to all that live and thrive brings with it our meeting for all to face. For whether one chooses to accept what the fate that leads us to them or to run for as far as such small and meager limbs can carry, their time will tick to a stop, as all do, and we will be ready at the end.
“Our hands will extend again, for perhaps we can appear merciful, but the jaws of the end and the awaiting dark will bite down on the fearful, the unwilling, the stubborn.
“So we will meet at the end of that time and we will dance one last requiem with whom accept. Worries and desires will melt away, all pain will ease and at last an end will come…
“For each will meet an end, no matter what.”
Lamb: Spare a Few Words
Lie down here and quiet your heart, for there is nothing to fear.
Listen to the wilds around, the calmness of life as it edges on.
Close your tired eyes, relax your sore muscles.
Release that breathe you hold so dear.
Follow my voice, I mean not to trick nor harm you.
Let go of those burdens that weigh down your shoulders.
Let go of the pull that prevents you from resting.
Let go of your anger, your restraint, your fear, your passion.
Breathe in slowly, then out easily.
Keep your eyes closed and let it all go.
"It won't eat us."- Huntersofthekindred
“Rek’Sai? Of course not. I am a being of pure energy, and you are death incarnate! That does not mean, however, that the Burrower cannot make an unwelcome appearance…”
“Let it come, all the more fun.” “Should it come, there is little to worry over.” Kindred stood with a rather relaxed attitude despite being in the territory of the Xer’Sai. “But we can offer you assistance if you are worried.” Lamb added with an almost taunting remark as Wolf laughed out a growl next to her.
Their Own Act
Lamb trotted through a forest, her voice a near whisper. The remains of their mark laid behind her, a skittish soul whom chose to run instead of accept. All knew what would befall them should they refuse her, still there were many whom tried to out run the jaws of their fleeting lives.
Wolf fluttered to her side, twirling in the air. The dark embers of his being fell onto her white wool before burning out completely. Lamb focused on the trail to their next mark when the haunting voice of her partner filled their silent surroundings.
Wolf hummed into the air, his mind content from the recent hunt. His black mane moved with the grace of waves slowly drifting to shore. Small slits in the eye sockets of his mask unleashed ethereal flames that flickered as Wolf shifted through different notes.
He seemed to dance there, over and between the thick tree trunks before humming turned to howling as twilight turned to night. Lamb stopped her pacing as her partner enjoyed himself. The soft markings on her being glowed in tune to the pitch of Wolf’s howl, her own life fires reacting to her partner’s uplifted spirit.
As Wolf twisted back over to her, Lamb hopped back from her partner and lowered her head. One arm stretched out with the palm facing the dark forest coverings, the other tucked to her waist as she balanced on one hoof. Her partner gave her a pointed stare and a huff of a laugh. The blue and violet lights of his eyes portraying his amusement before disappearing from sight as he lowered his own head in a mocking bow.
Kindred remained still for only a second more before flipping through the air and running through the woods. Lamb pounced off the ground, spinning and weaving at each chance. Wolf hung at her side, following her trail and circling around as his black mane acted as her shroud beating against the night air. Wolf began to hum again as Lamb supplied her own light singing, the once silent forest now occupied with their song.
They performed their own act as Lamb jumped back from Wolf again, her partner always at her heels, moving with her lead. Lamb spun in the air, landing on her knees with one palm stretched out and Wolf took the lead and pulled her from the forest ground. He hovered over trees and branches hardly touching either as his partner raced him to the near top before jumping forward where he waited. He flew to the ground, his humming a howl once more as Lamb fell after him, her voice drowned out.
As if silk in the wind, Wolf glided to the earth as Lamb made one final spin. Her descend seem to slow as her partner’s black mane engulfed her, easing her fall to one of grace. She landed on one knee, her head tilted down and both arms tucked to her waist as the final note of Wolf’s howl echoed through the forest.
Their song ended and the silence returned. Lamb steadied herself to stand as Wolf came to her side. With a near skip in their steps, Kindred began their walk once more towards a new mark.
Wolf found himself huddled
Wolf found himself huddled around Lamb, the dark shadows that made up his mane and body looped around the white being. Small specks from his make shift body fluttered around them both as he whipped to and fro, unable to halt for more than a few moments.
Lamb stood upon a low rising of land that hovered just above a thin layer of snow over ice. All around them the white buried the land, seemingly threatening to never reveal what laid underneath. Hardly any flora fought back against the white oppressor leaving the world bland and quiet as the wind came to brush against what life had survived, and nothing had been moved by its touch safe for the few flakes that dance off of Wolf only to vanish in the air.
Wolf gave a huff of breath, a small steam of heat flowing out form his maw, and settled himself onto the padded ground. A short glance to his partner showed that she remained as still as she ever was; one leg and both arms tucked back behind her own mane, the eyes of her mask dark and open, though the markings on her being glowed slowly, peacefully.
Lamb always resulted to this. Always watching, noticing, what revolved round them. She would usually use little moments to take a glance, but there were times where she would stop to see and Wolf would slow his pace. He would come to her side, and would patrol around them, would look for signs of the living and near dead, and would not move. He would wait.
“Can you smell them?” Lamb’s voice, which normally displayed calmness and understanding, shattered whatever peace the snow covered field had adopted. There was no pity or musing in her tones. Her once empty eyes dared to uncover a spark of hunger that Wolf knew all too well.
“I can hear their beating hearts.” Wolf puffed out, a large breath of hot air colliding with the cold, and readied himself to move. His partner was now impatient to find a mark and he more than eager to finally hunt down a poor soul.
A Crescent of Light
A crescent of light scratched across the night sky surrounded by twilit points who threaten to conquer the space all around. Their combine light glistened onto the earth, the new moon despite its small light still performs its duty to brighten the dark stretches of the world below.
“I smell them nearby.” Their voice echoed in that dark surface, the ethereal darkness of their mane waded in the air as they followed the path of fleeting life. Four eyes looked out to the field, a calmness that matched the night above surrounded them completely.
No struggle, No aggression.
“This one is accepting.” A pair of eyes looked up towards the crescent moon. Her’s are empty, betraying no signs of life in her being though her markings give her away as they glowed softly, rhythmically,  through her white body.  She halts in their chase to glance at the world. She can spare a few seconds, her partner would not mind, and the world is so different now, at this moment, then before when she last truly saw it all.
How quickly their surroundings changed, like that moon in the sky.
“I’ve found it!” Her partner cried and she is drawn back. No longer her, but once more they and together they found their hunt surrounded in the shadows created by the crescent moon of this hollow night.
“You’re- you are, Ani and that means-“The poor creature stuttered as they surround it. Bright colorless eyes blow out of proportion, hair tossed to the side in a quick mess, broken rags hung from weightless limbs.
“This one has been waiting for us.” Kindred spoke, calm and knowing and eager. “Then we shouldn’t let the thing wait any longer! What should be play with it, can we chase the thing around the field?”
“Perhaps, are we up for a game?” The question is directed to the poor creature and it shook its head rather quickly, rather violently. “I’ll- I wwwill accept you, Ina.” It responded slow and soft; head tilted up to see the open sky only to find towering figures that blocked what little light the small crescent moon would give.
“Then you will not run from your promise.” Nearly soundless, the arrow pierced the poor creature’s heart. What life it had left now gone as another mark has been claimed. What remained of the poor creature fell to the earth, the arrow of Kindred embedded at the heart faded into the embers of light that mimic Kindred’s ethereal flames.
“They never want to play over here!” “Then perhaps we should visit the North.” “So that we can chase the wars! Those are always so fun!” “The nights are more pleasant as well.”

“How Long...
“How long, Little Lamb, will we be together?”
The black shadow of Wolf’s body surrounded Lamb’s being. Small blacken embers of Kindred’s ethereal life-force fluttered off of Wolf and wondered around the two before vanishing into nothing. Lamb shifted her head, her mask tilting to the side as the empty sockets of her eyes stared directly into the living fires of Wolf’s.
“I will never leave your side, Dear Wolf.” Lamb answered calmly, her voice ever hallow and empty as the darkness nearly devoured her white form. Kindred remained observing one another; a doubt almost present in the darkness that hid them from the outside world before vanishing completely.
Lamb gently patted the mask of her partner before the darkness around them broke apart and Wolf left her side to continue his hunt. Her arm left hanging in the air slowly fell to join her still being, never moving unnecessarily and never portraying the signs of life.
It had been a while since Wolf asked Lamb how long they would stay together. Just as the times before, Lamb answered truthfully. Just as she will answer again when Wolf voices his eternal fear to her in the time to come.
I wish you were more active. Your writing is great.
((Oh, why thank you Anon. That is kind of you to say.
As for why I am not that active, finals are coming up for my classes and most of my time should is being directed to studying.
Though I am thinking of somethings to write about as Kindred; hopefully when the holidays come up and I do not have to worry about classes I can post some writing up or have some prompts to answer.

The sound of soft hoofs made their way through the sand, not intent of hiding to be found from them. The White being moved openly near Xerath with the almost complete mask of her partner, though her attention in no way aim at him. -huntersofthekindred
Xerath felt the familiar presence of Death lingering in the air, and identified it immediately. He turned to face the archer, filling the air around him with crackling magic. “I haven’t the time to waste on you now. If you mean to claim me again, then you will find that my power still surpasses yours.”
huntersofthekindred:
“HA, as if!” “Knowledge does not equal understanding.” Lamb hid her arms behind her back as Wolf took place at her left side. They did not appreciate the tone the Magus used or the words he spoke. “You had a chance back then, that is what you chose.”
“He blames his regret, Little Lamb.” “He is a slave, Wolf,” Lamb arched her legs, ready to pounce at the moments notice. The sockets of Wolf’s eyes seemed to arch downward in a frown. “In more ways then one.”
“A chance? I was never given a chance.” Xerath’s tone remained surprisingly calm, yet there were hints of anger and, perhaps, even sorrow in them. “It matters little. I will be free, with or without your aid, spirits. Of that, I can assure you.”
The Magus hovered closer. “And I can also assure you of this: I am no slave. Not anymore… And never again.” He gestured to the seal. “I am bound, but I serve none but myself, Kindred.”
“We are here only to offer a peaceful end.” “Or an agonizing death” Lamb took a step back and turned away from Xerath. Kindred’s business in the desert was done for now, there was no reason to remain any further. Wolf moved as if sniffing the air, the darkness of his body acting as a shroud over Lamb.
The White being however, payed a glance over her shoulder to the Magus while her partner worked. The dark mask that made up her face would of given the impression of stone if not for the fires that started to burn up from her sockets. But before anything could be said or done, Wolf cut into her focus.
“I’ve caught one!” “... is it far” “Does that matter?” “No.” With no parting this time, Lamb kicked off the ground. Kindred ran to their next mark, Wolf more then ready for a good chase.

Kindred was whole once more and they could not be any more content. As Wolf waded through the air around Lamb, the White being could not help herself to feel at ease. Even though the two of them had been together the entire time, having Wolf back to full form calmed her being.
Kindred ignored Xerath for the most part, until he spoke those words. Those curious, dangerous, words. “Foolish creature!” Wolf was quick to bark, having enough with having to let partner speak for them. “Foolish mind! He knows nothing of consequence!” “Calm yourself, Dear Wolf.” Lamb urged her partner, but did not disagree with him.
“Consequences?” Xerath chuckled. “One the contrary, Black one… I know about those all-too-well…” The Ascendant’s thoughts wandered briefly. A weapon that could cut Death itself… Surely, the axe they spoke of could cut the seal that held him, as well?
“I have suffered this infernal imprisonment for far too long… A life in chains is not a life at all; that is why I will never let you take me. So many years have been stolen from me, Hunters, and I care not what must be done to get them back. Where is this axe you speak of?”
“HA, as if!” “Knowledge does not equal understanding.” Lamb hid her arms behind her back as Wolf took place at her left side. They did not appreciate the tone the Magus used or the words he spoke. “You had a chance back then, that is what you chose.”

“He took an axe and split himself in two,” Lamb continued to speak despite Xerath’s understanding. The dark fires that made up their being began to spread around the three of them, similar to Wolf’s Frenzy but with no ill intent. The mark grew around them with the same power that flowed out of Lamb, the mask of Wolf now hanging itself in the middle of the mark. “Right down the middle.”
“So he would always have a friend?” The voice of Wolf vibrated through the air above the mark. His mask glowed with the fires that fell from Lamb as the dark night sky that made up his body started to reform from the Mask.Â
“So he would always have a friend.” Lamb concluded her tale, and with a quick flick of her hand, the mark erupted around them into small dark embers and the missing portion of Wolf’s Mask appeared to have regrew during the release of energy.
Lamb and Wolf then stood in front of the Magus, as if the past events never occurred.
Xerath actually found himself moving back as the energies erupted forth, restoring Wolf’s mask completely. The spectral predator was whole once more, and now hovered behind the graceful archer as he always did. The Magus muttered a curse. How could he have let his guard down? No matter, if the Kindred attacked, he would be ready, regardless…
As they yet to do so, however, Xerath seized the opportunity to question them further. “You split yourself… With an axe?” The Magus was now fully confused. What sort of axe wielded the power to cleave Death itself? One came to mind, but even that seemed unlikely…. “And where might such a blade be found?”
Kindred was whole once more and they could not be any more content. As Wolf waded through the air around Lamb, the White being could not help herself to feel at ease. Even though the two of them had been together the entire time, having Wolf back to full form calmed her being.

huntersofthekindred:
Lamb glanced at Xerath once again, the fire in her markings starting to dance out of her. “Because all things met this man,” The dark embers started a spark in the sockets of Lamb’s mask, the flames acting as her eyes and swaying to her voice. “so they shunned him away.”
Without notice, Wolf’s Mask came to join Lamb’s side, the only parts missing being his left eye. The mask turned to face Lamb and she stroke between its ears gently. “Wolf asked if the man chased them all.” She looked back to Xerath with Wolf’s Mask still in her arms. The ethereal fires from her markings jumped onto the mask covering it whole. As the flames fell to the sands under them, the Mark of Kindred began to slowly form.
It didn’t take long for Xerath to peace things together. The man that the archer spoke of was no mere man, but rather, he was the Kindred, before they parted. “So, you fragmented yourself… Because you sought companionship?” The Magus almost laughed. That death could long for such a thing seemed ridiculous to him, but his amusement soon faded.
The Ascendant was aware of the mark forming beneath him, and looked around warily. The presence of the death grew even stronger than before, and it almost intimidated Xerath. “What are you-?”
“He took an axe and split himself in two,” Lamb continued to speak despite Xerath’s understanding. “There was once a pale man,” Lamb tilted her head up to the sky, the markings on her body began to glow with the ethereal fire of Kindred. From afar, Wolf’s Mask had managed to locate two of his missing shards and currently retrieving one of them. The mask hovered over where the shattered remain was, causing it to float up to him and reattach the stump that was his left ear.
“With dark hair who was very lonely.” Lamb stopped speaking, her head still aimed at the sky.
Xerath watched with intrigue as the flames of death ignited, listening intently. He could see Wolf in the distance, recovering two shards, and held back a chuckle. The Black one might have found the two that were in the mage’s possession, but the rest were scattered elsewhere… Renekton even held onto a couple as trophies, but that was a matter for a later time.
Xerath noticed Lamb’s silence, and looked at her quizzically. “Loneliness is an emotion that plagues many mortals. How does this relate to you and your other half?”
Lamb glanced at Xerath once again, the fire in her markings starting to dance out of her. “Because all things met this man,” The dark embers started a spark in the sockets of Lamb’s mask, the flames acting as her eyes and swaying to her voice. “so they shunned him away.”
