New-ish hunter looking for help

New-ish hunter looking for help

Pretext, sorry for format at work on my phone, living in Illinois and have 2 unsuccessful hunts notched in. Everywhere ive been reading online and thru facebook says "go find a mentor". Cool beans. Except no one wants to show a 32 year old some ropes. Ive been trying since the turn of this years to find a deer or yote hunter to help me out. Honestly besides sitting in a blind im straight up clueless. I lost my family's plot b/c my brother's a jerk so now im sitting here trying to figure out how to hunt public land. Feel like its too late almost since youth deer has started. Should I just chock this years out the window and prepare for next year? If a mentor doesnt step up them where do yall suggest I should start?

Took my little buddy out bird hunting for the first time & didn’t realize how high the grass was… was almost impossible for humans to find the birdies… Wouldn’t have found a single one without him! Peep his first 3 🙂
