Gil stood there staring. His arms swung limp and  heavy, much like his eyelids. His jaw pulsed. Every inch of him (all 69 tall) quivered with pent up anger. He wanted to punch, to scream, to let it all out. But he couldn’t. Not here in the hospital. Not in front of Boots lying comatose in that hospital bed. “I’ll give him my brain,” he grumbled. “Boots needs to be there for his kid’s birth and see it grow up.”

Character A and Character B, sworn enemies, are chosen to prepare the company Christmas Party.

Character A’s best friend rigs the Secret Santa, because they know Character A has a crush on Character B.

Character A works as a Santa’s helper. Character B has a small sibling/child.

Character A is desperate to find a particular item (book/toy/etc.) as a present for someone, but it’s been sold out everywhere. Character B helps.

Character A and Character B are co-workers, but they barely know each other. But they both have to work through the holidays.

Character A and Character B meet in the ER on Christmas Eve.

Character A can’t wrap gifts to save their life. Character B is thir neighbor and can help.

Character A’s ex will be at the Christmas Party A is attending. Character B poses as A’s fiance.

Character A vows to do something nice for a stranger during the Christmas time. Character B is that stranger.

Character A and Character B both sign up for a Christmas Pen Pal project to exchange postcards.

Character A and Character B broke up, but now they meet at a Christmas party.

Character A is stuck working in coffee shop on Christmas Day and Character B is the lonely soul spending their whole day there.

Character A doesn’t feel the Christmas spirit but Character B, who lives above them, keeps playing Christmas carols really loud.

She'd been trying to stay calm for the last two hours which had been difficult the moment the power went out as the hurricane had set in. They had everything they needed to just stay hunkered down including the generator that should have kicked in on it's own. She'd just been pacing while waiting for Gil, not wanting to say anything to worry him further when there was likely nothing to worry about. Except the contractions were getting worse and her water had just broken. [twenty-six-letters]

Emma didn’t normally call him at work. That worried him, but only a little bit. It was storming and he should be home. It looked like it was going to be a pretty rough hurricane. So he did not worry too much when she’d called and asked him to hurry home.

 “Hang in there, I’ll be home in fifteen or less or your next taco’s free,” he joked. He hung up the phone and finished boarding up the windows. Back in his truck he drove. Thankfully, their place was only a few blocks from his work so he was home in under twenty. 

“Took me  twenty. It looks like your taco’s free,” he called, kicking off his shoes, shrugging off his coat, and dropping his keys in the bowl sitting on the front door table. “It’s really raining buckets out there....” 

His smile fell when he saw the expression on Emma’s face. He hurried over to her. “Hey, Babe. You okay?” he called. “You look like you ate a rotten strawberry.”
