How to Install Hadoop 2.6.0
First we must install jdk. If you want to make sure, you can use following command.
NOTE-1:sometimes when you copy, you may get errors because quote marks.
NOTE-2:I use ubuntu 14.04 and jdk 1.8

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/java
$ sudo apt-get install oracle-java8-installer
**to verify Java version, write following command
Java™ SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_20-b13)
Java HotSpot™ Client VM (build 25.0-b70, mixed mode)
~$ sudo apt-get install openssh-server
~$ ssh-keygen -t rsa -P “”
~$ cat $HOME/.ssh/id_rsa.pub >> $HOME/.ssh/authorized_keys
net.ipv6.conf.all.disable_ipv6 = 1
net.ipv6.conf.default.disable_ipv6 = 1
net.ipv6.conf.lo.disable_ipv6 = 1
We’ll setup in /usr/local/

huseyin@huseyin-pc:/usr/local$ sudo tar -xzvf hadoop-2.6.0.tar.gz
huseyin@huseyin:/usr/local$ mkdir hadoop
huseyin@huseyin-pc:/usr/local$ sudo mv hadoop-2.6.0/* /usr/local/hadoop
huseyin@huseyin-pc:/usr/local$ cd hadoop
huseyin@huseyin-pc:/usr/local/hadoop$ sudo chown huseyin:huseyin -R /usr/local/hadoop
huseyin@huseyin-pc:/usr/local$ sudo chown huseyin:huseyin -R /usr/local
huseyin@huseyin-pc:/usr/local$ cd hadoop
huseyin@huseyin-pc:/usr/local/hadoop$ sudo mkdir -p /usr/local/hadoop_tmp/hdfs/namenode
huseyin@huseyin-pc:/usr/local/hadoop$ sudo mkdir -p /usr/local/hadoop_tmp/hdfs/datanode
huseyin@huseyin-pc:/usr/local$ sudo chown huseyin:huseyin -R /usr/local/hadoop_tmp/
2) Update Hadoop configuration files
huseyin@huseyin:/$ sudo gedit .bashrc

4) Start all Hadoop daemons
huseyin@huseyin:/usr/local/hadoop$ start-dfs.sh #Start hdfs daemons
huseyin@huseyin:/usr/local/hadoop$ start-yarn.sh #Start MapReduce daemons
huseyin@huseyin:/usr/local/hadoop$ jps
6)Now, you can access hadoop service from localhost:50070 on your browser
