Alright, officially archiving this blog because it's just too hard to keep up with two blogs.
Find Steve on @storiesofthenight
Thinking of moving my Steve to my main blog. Honestly, I love having a separate blog for him but the issue is that I keep forgetting that this blog exists because my brain is the chaotic mess that it is, and it leads to me barely ever posting here. So I probably won't be removing it, but more like archiving this blog? Opinions?
Robin nodded. She gave Steve a small smile. She really hoped that she could get somewhere that meant that they wouldn't be eaten by any dinosaurs. Or attacked. The last thing that she wanted was for them to be attacked by anything. She just wanted to gather up some food and then stick by Steve's side.
"That sounds like a good idea to me," she agreed and took Steve's arm. He was the only person that she felt like she could be around and be safe. "What if we find some of the baby dinosaurs around? We should try and keep them safe."
Honestly, Steve didn’t know if it was a good idea to move. They were pretty safe here, had a view on the main street so they could keep an eye on Rexie’s movements and all. And yes, of course they were close to the T-rex and it did pose threats, but the thing was also … with a T-rex around, what other carnivores would be stupid enough to try and wander in that area? In Steve’s mind, no dino would take that risk, especially with Rexie building a nest-like thing at the moment.
“Hmm, well, I don’t think we’d be able to get them this high up, but maybe we could shelter them in the lower floors?” Perhaps that was an option, try and give them shelter and see where they’d go from there. But the idea that they would need to look after baby dinos as well was a tough one. Life on the island wasn’t horrible, but it was difficult to get food, and finding food for baby dinos would only make that aspect harder.
“Alright, let’s get going …” He spoke, taking a deep breath as he threw his bag over his shoulder.
The idea that season 5 is coming is very thrilling. It might spark Steve back into action.
Robin thought about it. She wasn't really sure. "I don't know. Both? But out of the building first. What if Rexy comes along and bashes her head into it? Then we're fucked." She pointed out and ran a hand through her hair. "It's really scary you know Steve?"
Steve did get it, and it really was scary indeed. But honestly, he had felt better here than he had ever felt back at home, even with all the carnivorous monsters lurking about. So, in a sense, if he could stay, he didn’t think he’d mind it all that much. “It’s a pretty tall building though, but I suppose we could look for another hide-out, the question is … where will we find one that is this close to chances at provisions?” He tilted his head and thought it over. Honestly, was anywhere a better strategical position than here? Chances were if people were to send help, this was an area they would check for people, right?
It was hard to figure out what to do, what was the right plan, the right idea. Everything had changed when that Indominus had escaped. And while they mainly had to worry about the T-rex, he was aware there were plenty of other carnivores on the island.
Sighing, he smiled a little. “Let’s get started with food and like … some walkies and a map or something? And then we can return here and regroup.”
The island wasn't so bad. When there weren't dinosaurs trying to eat them. She didn't want to face it. She knew that she had to though. They had to get out and they had to try and do something to get off of the island. Although she knew that she'd feel guilty about leaving some of the other dinosaurs here.
"Let's... try and get out of here." Robin spoke softly and looked over to Steve. "We can just chill out when we find somewhere quite safe."
Steve tilted his head and looked at her. “Like, out of this building? Or do you wanna get away from the island? Because the island will be harder to escape, right?” He spoke, unsure what exactly she meant. Did she want to look for a place on the island where they could chill? Even if she meant to find a safe space on the island where the carnivores didn’t dwell so much, he honestly would be perfectly fine with that. The island was nice and he knew it was far away from home, which he was alright with too.
Robin looked over to him and gave a little smile. She had loved all of the dinosaurs really. She tried to keep her distance from the ones that could eat her but, the baby dinos were ones that she loved the most. "I do like it here. It's nice to just see them. But I agree that Rexy is pretty scary."
Perhaps he was going crazy on this island. Stuck where dinosaurs roamed freely and he was likely to end up as a snack to one of them eventually. Steve realised it was foolish to like the island, and yet he really did. He smiled at Robin’s words and nodded. “Yes, … without the carnivores it wouldn’t be that bad right?” He mused, chuckling a little.
“I mean, imagine this being your home without things trying to eat you. It sounds a little like a paradise.” It made him wonder sometimes if he even wanted to go back home. Back to where his life was pretty much one nightmare after another. At least here, he could be himself. Even if he had only one person to share the life with, it was better than being stuck in that role of the perfect son back home.
"Jeez, did something shit in your cereal or something?" Millie shook her head. "I don't know any Dustin. I'm lost, I'm confused and you're being an asshole." She frowned up at him. Her arms crossed over her chest and she was really having to fight back tears that threatened to come out.
Steve sighed and continued his way towards the box with new arrivals. “And I’m at work and I’m pretty sure you’re part of some elaborate joke the kids set up so I’m not falling for it.” He spoke as he began to sort through them. “These videos aren’t gonna sort themselves so.” Honestly Steve was done with the jokes from the kids, they were getting more and more elaborate and it was making him tired. He just wanted to work in peace, was that too much to ask for?
Robin let out a little sigh and ran a hand through her hair. She wasn't even sure how to respond to that. She looked up towards Steve again and bit her lip. She had loved the job before it all went to shit. She'd loved dinosaurs ever since she was a kid.
"I don't know..." She told him. "I wish that I did know."
It made sense, ... if they'd known that this was going to be how they'd end up then maybe things would be different. They could've been better prepared or something? Or ... well, maybe not have come at all. Though, in general, Steve didn't regret it one bit that he had this life now. Yes, he wanted to get back to the mainland, but in the end, other than the risk of being eaten, the island wasn't that bad he supposed.
"Hmm, I still like it here though, ... I mean, not the t-rex but ... the rest, I like it." He mused, shrugging a little.
Millie shook her head. "No. My best friend. Keys." She answered and crossed her arms over her chest with a little sigh. She glanced up towards him again. This obviously wasn't Steve. "Look..." She took out her phone and showed him a photo of her and Keys. She didn't know that those kinds of phones weren't even a concept in this time.
Steve frowned as he watched the girl before him. "Yea, ... I don't know who put you up to this, if it's Dustin or something ... it sounds like Dustin with all that modern looking shit. Maybe Eddie too ... but uh, you're not pranking me so ... I'm just gonna go back to work." What was that thing even that she'd pulled out. Was this some thing that Dustin came up with again like the radio thing he did? It seemed advenced ... he couldn't believe the kid would go this far for a joke.
Robin liked being around Steve. He was fun to talk to and he was fun to just talk to as well. She’d never have expected it but she liked it. It was a lot better than just sitting down on her own and not having anyone to talk to.
“That was better.” She nodded and grinned at him. “Alright. My turn.” She picked up her own bow and arrow and shot it. It didn’t quite hit the target but, it got almost there.
It was better alright, but really ... it wasn't that surprising was it? There wasn't a lot worse that he could've done. So he chuckled and nodded at her words, watching her closely as she fired her own arrow. "We're gonna have to train a lot I think to become good, don't we?" He laughed softly as he held out another arrow at her.
"Come on, go again. We have to practice lots if we want to get better~"
Robin let out a little sigh and ran a hand through her hair. She really just wanted to get out there and find a way back. She missed when the island was safe. When all she had to do was help feed some of the dinos and give a couple of tours around the area.
"I'm with you the whole time." She told him and gave a small smile. This was terrifying.
That was at least the small comfort. That despite that the two of them would be scared shitless, they would at least have each other to deal with this. With the dinosaurs around there was always danger and honestly Steve wish he'd never come there. It was ... not the fun trip he'd expected it to be.
"Yea, I know." He mused as he made his way to the ground floor, biting his lip. "Do you like ... regret it? That we came here?" He asked as he held open the door to her.
Millie's head snapped around when she heard the voice. She knew that voice! Her eyes widened when she saw that... it looked like Keys but, his name badge said Steve. Either Keys was playing a trick on her or this was all just very strange. Something must have happened to make things seem like she was in a whole other time.
"It's not you. I just- I think I'm lost." She sighed and ran a hand through her hair. "Unless you are Keys and you're just being weird?"
Unless you are Keys.
Raising an eyebrow, Steve looked at the woman before him curiously. "I have no idea why you'd think I'm a key, I mean, obviously I'm a guy." He muttered slowly, chuckling a little. "Did you lose your keys maybe?"
@rebelliousfamily asked: Millie had no idea where she was but, she knew that it wasn't her home anymore. One minute she had been walking down the street on her way home, and the next there was a blinding light and she was on a random street that she had never seen before. "What the Hell?" She questioned and wandered until she saw a shop called Family Video. Maybe there would be some people in there. She wandered around the shop and was a little surprised at the VHS tapes. What relic did she walk in to? "What the Hell?"
Steve had just started his shift and was unpacking the newest delivery, going through everything to see where they'd have to be set in the shop. Humming a little to himself, he was reading the summary of one of the videos when he heard a voice.
Raising an eyebrow, he walked over to the mystery customer and smiled as a greeting. "I know I still have to clean, but ... I didn't think it was that bad here, right?"
Nancy looked over to him and gave a small smile. “I really wish that I could. I think my mother would have everyone out on the search for me to drag me right back home.” She rolled her eyes a little and shook her head. “It’s pointless really to even try and dream about anything like that.”
[rebelliousfamily]
Tilting his head, he smiled at her and nodded slowly. "Hmhmm, yes I assume your mother would do that indeed." He mused before chuckling a little. "But you know what? Look where we are ... Titanic, the ship of dreams ... I was supposed to be sleeping in some park or on a sofa from whoever would allow me to sleep in their place ... But I'm ... on my way home. It kinda sounds like a dream, doesn't it?"
Steve got it, she didn't feel like she had a choice. But everyone had a choice, everyone had dreams and he wasn't planning on simply rolling over and letting her decide that this was indeed all her life could possibly be. If he could, he would show her there was more to life than just this.
Robin nodded. She stood up slowly. She didn't want to have one of her classic moments where she was clumsy and knocked something over, alerting all the dinos in the area to where they were. She couldn't stand the thought of being eaten by a dinosaur. Or Steve being eaten by one.
"Bag." She agreed and headed over, lifting one of the bags from the floor and looked over towards Steve.
[rebelliousfamily]
Walking over to her, Steve grabbed a bag as well and took a deep breath as he smiled at her. "Come, let's do this ... we can do it before Rex gets back and ... then we don't have to be dinofood." That was going to be the main goal, not turn into a dinosaur meal, but he knew it was important they found something to reach the main land.
Smiling, Steve patted her shoulder in reassurance before unlocking the door and stepping into the hallway. Even though he knew that the building was safe up until now, he really hoped they could keep it like that. After all, dinosaurs did come in all kinds of shapes and sizes.
