Do I think about the conflict/journey she has about how she has lost nearly everyone around her but her time in the yokai realm gave her meaning. She met a Okuri Inu yokai that had no name, so she named him Zephyr. She has had to bury her people multiple times and by the time she is able to control her powers, she's able to get out. But at the cost of finding the skeletons of her people after the Shinigami wiped most of them out.

Then, the Auswählen comes in and wipes her people again. And some of them slowly die and she makes them as comfortable as possible before they died. She left Urahara Shouten to watch over them, and try to bury as many quinces as they could that had no people to bury them.

She's in constant survival mode for years, even after she's more accepting for years. She fights as if she has nothing left to lose even if she has Zephyr now. She doesn't fully break this until the Heuco Mundo arc. And she still has restrictions on herself with her powers because she never wants to be like Yhwach, the man who burned her home down. (And she has to try to break down that last barrier in TYBW. That she will never be Yhwach because she's learn to be good despite all the trauma she's gone through)

She's never forgotten her home. She misses it. More than she ever realizes. She has never forgotten them, even in her brief time in the Wandereich. Never in her time working at Urahara's shop, and she knows that pain will never go away no matter how much revenge she wants.

But most importantly, she does find peace in the shop. In a chaotic place that means something to her and meeting other Quincies that survived, that were luckier than her makes her protective of them and gives her purpose. She doesn't want them to suffer the way she has. Never. Which is why in TYBW, she is probably one of the few people that understands why Uryu is doing the things he is doing because like her, he doesn't want to hold this weight on anyone.

SHE WAS RATHER EXHAUSTED. Moreno than she had been showing but during the commotion she heard from the labs. The fighting. The voices of Szayel's fraction. She could still feel the drainage from the hollow style cuffs on her, but she wasn't afraid of what happened to her...

Where is Merisi? Is she safe?

But then, someone snaps her gaze forward. It's familiar. The familiar pink hair of @reiiishii she could recognize anywhere...

"Emil?"

She asks voice soft. She was surprised to see him but she gave him a pain smile, "....You're here...." Maybe now she can stop holding herself back.

She's tired and she wants to go home.

What reminded her of him...? Plenty, but Noah had a habit of talking far too much so in the spirit of things and to be polite she would have said minimal to at least keep company from being bored.

Starting with the stillness of winter, something about it was serene, elegant... Jugram. Frost preserving a world in stillness, but it was still such a beautiful sight.

He was a participant in a confession dyed in crimson with the eyes of god gazing down in judgement, a lover putting their deceased partner to rest in a cold, running river.

Macabre yet beauty in it's own right. Love masked as a final goodbye.

The sadness that he wore as a coat was no longer that, it was duty, blind but it was that... Commanding and powerful, a king before his court- they all listen when he speaks, they all follow.

Jugram was a sanctuary of protection and hearth, a gentle glow of a candle over old parchment as a message was composed- music, a letter, a decree... old ink and iron stained it's contents regardless.

There was a sort of religion that followed him in her eyes, the kind that would make anyone tell him what they wanted, what they needed, what they thought was right... in her eyes, that wasn't always a good thing... but she knew a man with the devil on his back was one who would only see things one way.

his way. Balanced, Just, Right.

The way wine tasted upon her tongue, bitter and often times sweet- a note to say 'this is the body of your king, accept it.' with coaxing hands, gentle yet hiding so much blood they stained them black...

And she loved him.

Oh she loved him like a snake loved a bird, dangerously. There was something that drew her to the fanged, yet poised mouth of a snake that dangerous...

He is the trees she ran through to gain her freedom, the one whom she confesses to, the walls of Silbern that keep her both prisoner and protected. He is the comforting embrace of death itself and the loving arms of a man who loves her yet has a duty to perform...

He is what will be the end of her...but what a beautiful ending for a singing bird indeed to be wholy devoured by the snake it so desperately loves.

IF THERE WAS ANYTHING that reminded him of her it was always the sound of her guitar. The laughing, the smiling, the sun where the light would brighten her presence. The way she lit up a room no matter where she would enter.

The sun herself would be a way to word. The way the world was brighter with her by his side. He remembers the day well when they had reunited. At a tavern that she performed at with her group.

The music never left. Never. Even when they were seperated. Its like when he had received the Almighty, it would show him the lyrics, but seeing into the future didn’t do the justice that seeing her in person would do.

He would oftentimes see the meadows and it would remind him of her. Such an opposite of what represented him. They were like Yin and Yang, and while he wishes sometimes that she would put herself at such high risk. But the other wishes that she had been able to stay free, but he knew she would’ve found a way to find her.

And that didn’t sit well with him. Even in death, he would always hear her songs beyond death…

Thinking of how Ismene moves still after being at Urahara Shoten forever like she still has nothing to lose despite having a yokai companion she adores. Its instinct. It’s been written in her body for years and its ultimately a huge weakness and she has to learn how to fight differently all these years.

Ismene has a pretty high sense of morality. Despite all the shit she has gone through. She primarily believes that when you lose your humanity, you ultimately lose yourself. She’s for fighting back, no matter what but retaining your humanity at the same time.

She is not a fan of vengeance as a whole rather that she believes that it will not take your pain away. She knows this because she has witnessed this and experienced this herself. That doesn’t mean that she won’t do something after somebody has hurt her, but she ultimately knows that the pain will never be taken away from her even if she takes revenge

Oh, dear. So the distant murmur between his guitar's notes was coming a known face. He must have been quite focused not to hear her, or feel her spiritual pressure coming. Something to work on, he thinks, if he wants to keep sneaking out Hachi's barrier at night whenever he can't sleep.

Tragedy has been caringly sending her victims their way in recent times, and this one hasn't been part of the Masked Army for long, the poor soul.

"Oh, woops. I thought I was hiding pretty well."

"Don't tell the others, will you? Please. Hiyori's not gonna let me hear the end of it if she finds out."

A pity, having to abandon such a fruitful session, but late hours are often a fitting stage for troubled thoughts, and troubled thoughts are the least to expect from a Mask bearer who's only recently awakened.

"Miss Haruka, is it? You shouldn't be up so late. Let old fools like us keep watch for any danger."

SHE WAS RATHER SURPRISED to see someone out here this late at night. She hadn't joined their ranks for long. Rather, she's still reeling from everything. She wasn't expecting to remember what happened that night. Much less, with her Hollow form. She was still very shaky, but Kyu was helping her adjust as best she could.

She still doesn't fully understand why this all happened, or if it was something she could overcome, but she doesn't know till she try.

"Sorry." She says, "I didn't think anyone would be out this late."

She's still terrified to sleep. She doesn't want to keep having nightmares about that night 100 years ago....

"I can't sleep." She says, "So I was wandering out..." A sigh, rubbing the back of her head. Her face felt dry from her crying earlier, "...I just came out here to decompress a little...if that's okay?"
