Hanzo takes notice of his slight panic, but is at least glad he gave him some space to take in everything again. It is rather scary when you wake up and realize your life is going to be different now.

“How bold of you to assume I almost didn’t wake you up. You looked….at ease, it was a sight I wanted to just take in for a while, but duty calls.” He starts before holding out his hand for the other take. “Keep your hat Jesse. I like the cowboy aesthetic, and if I like it, they’ll deal with it. What I meant is to wash up some, after all, you ended up drooling a little bit.” Hanzo gestures to the other’s cheek to show where it was, before chuckling a bit. Now, he waited for him to stand for them to clean themselves up. His own hair and face was a mess from sleeping early, he needed to tidy up how he looked at the very least before showing his face out there.

Jesse felt his face tinge red at the mention of his drooling. He immediately attempted to wipe off any drool from his chin. “Couldn’t’ve mentioned that a little bit earlier?” he teased. He took the other’s hand and stood up. “Can’t promise you I’ll do a good job, though. I’ve had some of this shit on my face for so long I forget it’s even there.”

A soft chuckle could be heard from Hanzo’s voice as the other smiled softly. “I did not want to, I thought it was rather endearing.” he teases back as Jesse gets up and has him follow him to the passengers’ cabin bathroom. “Understandable, we do not exactly have much to work with considering we must look presentable before we land in such little time. It’s best we at least look like we tried, no can really ever impress the elders..” He sighs before opening the cabin door into the bathroom. It wasn’t very spacious, but it was enough for one of them to enter.

Jesse quickly went into the bathroom, scrubbed as much dirt off his face as he could, and exited. “Think I’m beginnin’ to look close to presentable?” he half joked. “Feels like I just shed off 10 pounds.” He opened the door for the other. “The bathroom awaits, your Highness,” he teased.

He felt his cheeks heat up. “It’s… nice to hear that you think that. I can’t say I see where you’re comin’ from. When I think about when we met… it feels like I’m rememberin’ it as a completely different person.”

“Perhaps so, but as your friend, I’d like to do the same.” Hanzo proposes, a slight blush dusting his cheeks. “I wanted you here for another chance to see you again, you protecting me is just a bonus.” He teases before smiling a bit.

However, his smile falters hearing Jesse’s statement, a hand moving to cup a cheek of Jesse’s before he spoke. “Maybe we were different then, but those memories are dear to me. The people in them, are even more so.” he responds before offering a sympathetic smile. “This will be much more different than how it was when we were children, but I’m just happy I get to see you again…”

Moving his hand away from Jesse, his cheeks are still a dusty red, but he looks outside the window. It would take a while before they reach Japan. “We should rest up Jesse. Our flight will take some time to get back to Hanamura, and it’ll be the afternoon when we arrive. Everyone will be expecting me, so be ready for a busy day tomorrow.”

“Think this might be the best sleep I’ve had in a long time,” he said quietly. “These seats are so fuckin’ comfortable…” He leaned back. “Wake me up if you need anything.” He closed his eyes, finally coming to terms with everything that had happened that day.

“I will make sure we awaken right before we have landed in Hanamura, rest now Jesse.” Hanzo states as he moves to pull out his phone, setting a silent alarm to wake him in a couple of hours, setting it inside his pocket when he’s done. “Of course Jesse, I think we’ve had enough for just one day. おやすみなさい.” He whispers before shutting his own eyes, shifting to try and relax in his seat. He was anxious for what the trip back would bring, but he’d face it soon.

It wasn’t too long before the silent alarm began to buzz in Hanzo’s pocket, awakening him and (hopefully) allowing Jesse to rest a bit longer as he’d confirm if they were going to land soon. Letting out a quiet sigh, Hanzo stepped out of his seat to take a look outside from one of the jet’s windows, already noticing they were descending. Taking another look over to his phone, checking their current location just to confirm it. He looks disappointed before moving near Jesse, ready to awaken him, but a thought crossed his mind.

“He’s looks at peace and calm, so much more different than how he was yesterday…” He mutters to himself before finally giving him a gentle shake on his shoulder. “Wake up Jesse, we’ll be landing shortly. We should look presentable before the elders and the Clan, as you are now the current acting Shimada Master’s personal bodyguard.” The young man whispers and moves to give him space, offering a shy smile for when he wakes. “I told you I’d wake you, see?”

Before Jesse even opens his eyes, he has a short flash of fear before remembering the previous day’s events. He was half expecting to wake up back in the little alcove he had for himself. “Knew I could rely on you,” he groggily mumbled, smiling tiredly. “And what do you mean by presentable? Ain’t exactly got much else to wear,” he admitted. “Please don’t tell me I gotta get rid of the hat. They can’t be that uptight, right?” He briefly looked out the window as the ground slowly began to appear, his anxiety and excitement rising.

Jesse hesitated before entering the car, fearful of making any mistakes. He wasn’t going to lose this chance, not matter what. As much as he wanted to talk to Hanzo, he knew it would be best to wait for him to initiate. After all, he would know when it was safe to talk.

As they drove off, he stared out the window, with each familiar building disappearing off into the distance.

Hanzo glances over to McCree and offers a soft smile before putting a hand onto the other’s lap, mouthing out a reassurance for him. He wasn’t exactly willing to speak all his mind yet, but the ride wasn’t terribly long. Once they were let out of the car and guided into the jet, Hanzo took his seat first and gestured for Jesse to follow.

Once the guards entered and went to the cockpit to ensure nothing would happen over to the controls, it took a few moments before the color and energy returned to Hanzo’s eyes as he immediately gasped silently, like he had been holding in his breath the entire time. Immediately. he looked over at Jesse and moved to hold his hand with both of his, a shy smile on his face as he started to speak. “Are…are you’re going to be okay with this Jesse? I missed you dearly, and it’s childish what I did, but I couldn’t stand to know you’d be stuck there otherwise. Being a personal bodyguard isn’t going to be easy or glamorous, but I want to know how you are doing about this…sudden lifestyle change.” He finished, quieting down but eager to hear his response.

Jesse returned the smile, blushing gently at the touch. “Hanzo- I couldn’t be happier. Sure, part of me’s gonna miss that old shithole, but not enough to want to stay there. I know this ain’t a free vacation but…” He sighed. “Anything’s better than there. Besides,” he grinned, “I’m fuckin’ fantastic at adjustin’ t’change. Wouldn’t have made it this far if I wasn’t.” He chuckled softly. “So, think you could tell me a little about my new job?”

With Jesse’s assurances, Hanzo sighs and lets the thoughts slip away, reminding himself that this was Jesse McCree. If he could survive with Deadlock for some time, he’d be okay in Hanamura now that he wasn’t going to do this alone. Hearing his question, the young Shimada offers a slight smile and nods. “Of course, I did technically just create the job for you, and no one at the Clan can do anything of it since I am acting as the Shimada head until Father recovers.” He thinks to himself before answering. “I’d need you at my side or at Genji’s, providing us with protection and cover. In the case of an emergency, you’d have to be able to escort me away to a safe area with more protection, or even a safehouse until the situation has passed.” He starts before chuckling.

“However, as my friend and sole-personal guard, you are bound by my orders, unless there is an emergency. Meaning if the elders give you conflicting orders to do something, you are to ignore them.” Hanzo adds before looking to McCree. “Do these conditions sound alright for you?”

“Sounds just fine. I’d be more than happy t’follow your orders into death.” He chuckled, giving him a grin. He suddenly frowned. “Wait, when your dad recovers, you won’t be the head anymore… He could send me back if he wanted to, right?” The mere thought of going back, now that he’s made it so far, terrified him.

“Don’t joke about that!” Hanzo states, his temper flaring for a moment before he calms himself and coughs to explain his sensitivity to that. “You mean to much to me Jesse, you are my first and perhaps my only true friend. I cannot imagine losing you again, especially to something as permanent as death. If my orders ever put you at such a risk, it will be up to you on how to act on them.” The young Shimada explains before sighing and giving a sad smile. “Father would never do that Jesse, we were friends since childhood and our parents knew each other and wanted us to be happy and safe. When he’s head again, I will re-introduce you to him and you can tell him what happened to your family. He could never send you away afterwards. He couldn’t do that for Ms. Elena’s sake.”

“Right- Forgot you and I think about dyin’ differently. Livin’ another day ain’t always a guarantee for me, so I don’t see death as a big thing. It could be years from now or a few hours from now. Haven’t really thought much of it, but I’ll be sure t’avoid that kinda humor if it bothers you so much.” He breathes a sigh of relief. “Yeah- you’re right. Just a bit worried cause I know how much people can change. Just look at me.”

“That’s quite fine. One will be enough.” Hanzo assures as he moves to stand and take the other’s hand this time to seal the deal with a firm handshake. “It is a deal. The Clan and I look forward to working with you in the future now, sir.” He states, taking his hand back and giving a bow of respect.

Internally, he didn’t respect this man in the slightest, but he had to keep in mind that he was representing his family’s name here. He could not afford to ruin that image, especially with the stunt he pulled now.

“I do believe I should take my leave then to finalize the preparations from my end as I return back to Hanamura tonight. Please, do let my new guard know he will be coming with me and is to report to me before sunset.” He asks of the Deadlock boss as he begins to walk out of the room, ensured that their business here was done now.

Jesse was still waiting outside the room when Hanzo left. “How did it go? Hope he wasn’t too difficult to deal with. I know-” He flinched as he heard the boss call his name. “I’ll be right back,” he assured him as he went into the office, closing the door behind him.

“Thank you sir. I’ll take my leave for now then, we shall be in touch.” Hanzo finishes as he gives one last bow of respect before completely leaving the room, seeing Jesse outside. Holding back a smile, he does his best to seem calm and neutral, no need to tell him now in public. “It was…decent. At the very least, he wasn’t foolish enough to try and kidnap me at the end of negotiations. My father had an entire criminal organization in Korea dismantled from a similar experience.” He states before hearing the order and wincing faintly. Must he be so loud and agressive for such an order. “Be careful. Talk later.” He mouths out to him, despite knowing that later would be fast approaching now.

When Jesse came out of the room, he was poorly holding back a grin. “You- Holy shit, I can’t believe you actually-” he stammered, his excitement making him too overwhelmed to speak clearly. He looks around before whispering, “As soon as we’re alone, you bet your ass I’m gonna give you the biggest hug you’ve ever had.”

“You’re looking awfully happy for someone who is going to be a personal bodyguard to a Shimada Heir..” Hanzo teases with a straight face. He was immensely happy that Jesse would be coming back with him, and he would be damned if Deadlock would think of taking him away again…even if the Clan wouldn’t be much better. “What can I say, my father taught me how to negotiate deals on my terms. I just made it seem like he’d be getting a bargain.” He whispers before smiling slightly. “Hurry now then. We’ll be waiting at our cars before we set off to take the jet back to Hanamura.” Hanzo reminds before turning back to walk with his guards. He wanted to be out of here before anyone would realize Jesse would be out of here, permanently.

Jesse held back a laugh. “Yeah, but it ain’t just any Shimada heir,” he joked back. “I ain’t got much shit, so I won’t take too long.” He all but bolted back to the small alcove he kept what little he had in.

As he packs, he can’t help but think about how he’ll miss the place he called- or used to call- home. Sure, he had some memories there that he’d love to forget, but they weren’t all bad. Maybe one day- if the Deadlock Gang ends up getting dissolved- he’ll come back for a few days. Then again, he had no idea what the future held. In just a few minutes the entire trajectory of his life had changed, and he couldn’t be happier.

Once he was finished packing, he arrived at the cars. He couldn’t help but notice how out of place he looked. Hanzo’s bodyguards were all nicely dressed in suits that probably cost more than the combination of everything he had ever owned. And here he was- Torn, dirty clothes that he’d had since he was 14.

Hanzo’s expression showed concern and disappointment not getting anything out of McCree, but perhaps he’d intervene…even if he wasn’t given permission by the other.

Deadlock, he remembered them from his childhood when he would visit Jesse, they were everything but kind, and he had no idea why his father wants to partner with them. Then again, he is ill and wishes to probably make as many affiliates for the Clan in case anything should happen to him.

Once McCree gave him the confirmation to enter, he gave him one last look before entering the Deadlock Boss’s office, bodyguards following the heir inside. It was dimly lit but the man in front of him looked comfortable enough, despite how unappealing he was to the eyes. Hiding back his emotions again to take his place as the Shimada Clan’s acting master, Hanzo stepped forth and bowed in respect to the man before introducing himself. “It is a pleasure to meet you in person, sir. My name is Hanzo Shimada, acting Shimada Master and I’m here about the arrangements we’ve discussed over our private line. The partnership between our two groups, your cooperation and support in exchange for information and weaponry to supply your people.” He finishes before looking to an empty seat. “May I have a seat?”

The Boss’ legs were hoisted on his desk. He was a man in his mid-twenties, who smelled of cigars, beer, and gunpowder. “Take a seat, Shimada.” He put out his cigar. “So, I am interested in the deal we’ve discussed, but I need to be sure that your people won’t back out. As you know, it’ll be hard to enforce cooperation when we’re an ocean apart. I also want to know the exact specifics of ‘cooperation and support’.”

If anything should happen internationally that involves either Deadlock or ourselves, we will not out each other as long as our partnership is still active. As for support, if we wish to take a number of your men to complete a task such as for the arrival of your weapons shipment to assist in unloading and delivery to your group, they should be few questions between that. If you have any other questions about this partnership between the Shimada Group.” He finishes, his formal poise hiding any emotions he felt about this conversation or ideas he was planning further.

He thought for a moment, mulling over the terms of the deal. “I think you gave me all I need to know. You’ve got yourself a deal, Shimada. I’ll contact you if I have anything else I need to ask.” He stood up from his chair, offering his hand. “How about we shake on it? To seal the deal.” He flash him a smug grin.

Watching as the larger man stood up, Hanzo bit back his instincts to show he was undeterred by his size and other traits. For now, he had to act, just before they finished the deal. “That’s good to hear, but I would like to propose one additional suggestion, not representing the Shimada, but just as the acting Shimada master.” He starts, continuing to sit down, as if the deal wasn’t completely sealed yet. “Your men are accurate as they are deadly, but I have seen one that does has potential, but has not honed in on his skills and abilities yet. I’d like to take the one known as ’ McCree ’ back with me as a personal guard. It would prove to be an extra assurance for both of us. He would guard me while improving his skills, and provide a deterrent to those who would want to go after Deadlock as he’d be representing your organization.” Hanzo proposes as he looks to the Deadlock boss, awaiting his response. This was more than a risky move, but he was determined to protect McCree.

The Clan wasn’t any better, but them being reunited and under Shimada protection is more than being an ocean apart. He did not trust this man, the Deadlock Boss, and he feared that Jesse would be in a terrible position should something happen, such as a raid. Hanzo was afraid that to this man, Jesse was worthless, or much worst, cannon fodder for any possible escape from the law.

He narrowed his eyes, trying to figure out what the other was trying to gain. It wouldn’t be much of a loss, but he couldn’t figure out why anyone would want him, instead of someone more high up. If he did accept, at least McCree was easy to replace. It’d be one less weak link.

“Kid’s your’s. But I can’t promise any of my other men if he gets himself killed.” Which he expected to happen not too long from now. Kid couldn’t survive for a second on his own. “We got a deal?”
