“I’m not being mean…if you wanted me to be mean i could.” a loud gasp left her mouth when she felt herself being picked up “Nathaniel if you throw me in you’re gonna get it!”

“If you could, you’d be complaining about me all day.” She didn’t say Nathaniel. He laughed, then hopped with her. The two bodies hit the water, diverting from each other as he released her body. He lifted his head. “I’m gonna get what babe?” He laughed, sliding his hands over his face.

“That’s becuse i have enough to complain about. You drive me insane sometimes. You know i was excited about getting new neighbors, i figured hey they might be pretty cool and instead...you showed up.” she couldn’t help but laugh before her body hit the water. It was refreshing, she was surprised she actually enjoyed it. “You’re such a pain in the ass.” she whispered as she moved her wet hair from her face.”

Haley looked up at Nate a small smile on her lips “you’re so smug and i hate it.” she mumbled “i really want to push you into this pool but we both know if i tried you wouldn’t move an inch” she gulped quietly

“Am I? Today you’ve only been mean to me, so …” Nate grabbed her legs and supported her waist on his arm. “Say your last words, Hales.” He was about to throw her into the pool.

“Me? Jealous? Good one.” She couldn’t help but roll her eyes as she stood up and grabbed a soda before walking to the edge of the pool “wanna say please?” she cocked her head to the side and dangled the can out in front of her.

Nate laughed with the roll of her eyes. He frowned at her. “No thanks, I get it myself.” He rested his hands on the edge to get up to the girl, he approached her to quickly grab the soda from her hand. “Easy.” The water dripping from his body wetting the floor.

“I would never consider myself lucky when it comes to you.” She hissed “you have this charm or whatever and it works with other people but I will always see right past it.”

Nate laughed at what she said. “Are you jealous or what?” He winked at her. “Can you get me a soda?” He pointed to his throat. “Very thirsty here.”

Haley opened one eye to look at who was casting a shadow over her “you’re blocking the sun, most of the time I wouldn’t be upset about that but as you can see my pasty white self needs some rays.” 

“oh my gosh, i’m so sorry.” ronnie moved over a little to get out of the other’s sunlight. “i’m sure a few hours out here will definitely change that, just don’t burn.”

“No, you’re okay.” Haley sat up and exhaled quietly “oh I’ll burn, i go from white to red, there’s never an inbetween or a nice color after.”

“I’m not pissed.” she exhaled “I’m going to ignore you until you stop calling me babe, I’m not one of your girls.” she sat up in her chair and looked at Nate “speaking of girls don’t you have one you could be bugging instead of me?”

Nate denied shaking his head. “I just like to bug you, it’s not worth it doing with other girls.” He laughed. “Consider yourself lucky.”

Haley opened one eye to look at who was casting a shadow over her “you’re blocking the sun, most of the time I wouldn’t be upset about that but as you can see my pasty white self needs some rays.” 

Moving to the side so he wasn’t blocking the sun from reaching Haley, he furrowed his brows and looked down at her, crossing his arms across his chest. “Or you’re on your way to getting skin cancer. Your skin is looking more pink than tanned.”

“Are you kidding me?” she asked holding her arms out to look at them “that’s just my luck. I can never get a nice color.”

         “  right,  sorry.  sometimes i forget americans are  …  paler  than most if they’re not  INCUBATING  once a month.  ”  olive skinned girl will flop down next to the other,  floppy hat upon her head.

Haley turned her head to look at the girl “doesn’t matter becuse incubating doesn’t do anything for me. I’ll wake up looking like a tomato tomorrow.” she huffed.

“Babe? I am not your babe.” she spat “i also don’t need your sunscreen, I’ve got my own. But thanks for the thought.” she followed his movements out of the corner of her eye.

Nate gave a long sigh, an eye roll as he ignored her. “Someone is pissed today, what happened babe?” He dipped  his whole body into the water, before fixing his hair and resting his elbows on the edge of the pool.

Nate went down the stairs in search of a dip in the pool. When his new neighbors visited his house, it was super annoying because he couldn’t just walk in his batman boxer shorts around. He stopped in front of Haley to put the sunscreen on the table next to her. “Relax babe, I just put the sunscreen on your side so you don’t get sunburn. You’re welcome.” He removed his shirt and walked to the pool ladder.

“Babe? I am not your babe.” she spat “i also don’t need your sunscreen, I’ve got my own. But thanks for the thought.” she followed his movements out of the corner of her eye.
