             “Now, I wouldn’t have guessed that but I love that idea,” Gemma couldn’t help but to grin. “I don’t think James would have appreciated it if I dressed up like him. He doesn’t like it when I copy his style,” she giggled. “It’s not weird at all. It’s Halloween.”

sofia let out a giggle that accompanied the other’s. “still, he should allow you just this one day to enjoy a day in the life of james. he should consider it an honor,” she said, teasing. “but, that’s the thing about halloween, isn’t it? it’s a strange day. interesting how people can allow strange things to pass on this day without much hassle, but any other day and it would be a bother.”

“Well…” She was quite unsure how to approach it all. She’d never really talked about it, and she’d never really gotten questions about it. “I’m Wiccan. It’s–it’s a religion based on the magic of the world. Even the Muggles who practice believe in the magic.”

sofia was definitely intrigued. muggles believing in magic? that sounded like a threat to the wizarding world, but the other didn’t seem concerned at all. “that sounds like it would be fun. being able to talk to muggles about magic without worrying about getting in trouble or having to delete their memories sounds peaceful and wonderful. are you able to tell them anything or ?”

Ludovica raised an eyebrow at the other. “You’ve never had tequila before?” Tequila wasn’t exactly her favorite, but when it came to parties, it did its job. Perhaps the other ingredients included in the drink would make it taste better. “That’s it, then.” She wasn’t sure if she knew the other, but she certainly looked familiar, so Ludovica didn’t mind having a drink with her. “It’s Halloween. You’re having one of these.”

sofia was surprised that the other was so decisive, but she didn’t mind. it was nice to have someone tell her what she was going to do for once rather than trying to figure it out for herself. of course, it was just a small drink, but a small thing was still helpful. “well, if you say so -- how can i say no?” she said with a laugh. she ordered one of the drinks, nervously looking it over when it appeared in front of her. “this doesn’t burn, does it?” she asked, knowing the stereotype of people’s reaction to drinking alcohol other than wine.

          Gemma smiled back at Sofia. “I suppose you’re right,” she replied. “You’re choice is unique, can I ask if you’re a specific character. My first thought was the nutcracker… but clearly I’m in a magical alternate world frame of mind.”

sofia let out a soft chuckle. “nutcracker is a good guess. i may go with that after a while if people ask me what i am a bit too often and don’t know who marzia is. she’s my little rat and she’s precious, but she can’t be here because so many people together makes her uncomfortable. so, i thought it best to dress as her so it was like she was here,” she said, knowing very well she probably sounded a bit crazy. “i know it’s weird.”

    She smiled at the rat, thankful that she didn’t seem uneasy around her. A lot of animals weren’t easy feeling around her due to her werewolf side so she was always thankful when one wasn’t. Her owl Snow always seemed like the only one. She looked back up at at Sofia, “I’m just taking it one day at a time, honestly. I spoke with my brother after that.. it wasn’t an easy conversation but it was one we needed to have.” She explained. Roxie was still sore from the transformation but she was feeling better today than the day before thanks to Albus’ potion. “Where you headin’ to?”

“i’m glad you had it even though it was difficult,” she said, always finding hard conversation to start or carry on. she knew she had many that needed to be held, but she was too compliant and afraid of confrontation. “i’m just heading to one of the courtyards. it’s so nice out when it’s been so rainy -- it would be a shame to not soak up the sun a bit,” she said. she ruffled through a small bag the hung on her shoulder, pulling out an apple. “i have two if you want to join me for a small while,” she offered.

She went all out on her Catwoman costume that night, and she knew that she was killing it. Skintight suit, mask, ears—not to forget, her signature red lipstick went well with the whole outfit. One could say that she was absolutely in her element. As she waited for Montague to go and get changed at the costumes station, she made her way to the open bar, flipping open the drink menu. “And what fancy Halloween drinks did Rory come up with this year?” 

sofia had been distracted by the other’s costume enough to only barely catch the question. now she was definitely not feeling up to par when it came to her own costume compared to the other’s. however, she kept the insecurity to herself. “i’m not sure. i’ve only ever had wine before, so i’m not sure what any of these would taste like. like this one. it has tequila in it, but i don’t know what that tastes like. the only things i know are things like pumpkin, cinnamon, brown sugar, and apples,” she said with a laugh.

            “The wings probably won’t be my smartest idea,” Gemma commented as she adjusted the fairy wings on her back. “But Happy Halloween, eh?”

“i really like them,” sofia said, smile present. “they might be worth it -- that’s part of halloween, isn’t it? my tail is already giving me some issues, but it would be a shame not to have it,” she said, gently pulling at the rat tail that was attached to her outfit.

   “Sorry, I’m not trying to stare, I’m just trying to figure out what your costume is exactly.” Alyx liked seeing people dress up. It was something they had always enjoyed to do when they were younger and they were defiantly not going to miss this party. “I like it.” They smiled slightly at the other person. 

sofia blinked a few times as she was addressed, a smile quick to come to her lips at the compliment. “oh! thank you! i’m dressed as my baby, marzia. she’s my rat. she couldn’t come because so many people in one place frightens her, so i thought i should pretend to be her so it’s not so lonely. thank you so much. what is your costume?”

“So,” Halcyon said, “which mask is more me?” He quickly switched back and forth between an overly smiling blue mask and a purple mask that was heavily decorated (too decorated) with gold piping. 

“the happy one,” sofia pointed out. “you may seem cool like the purple one, but you’re rather happy. plus, it could be considered creepy enough for this halloween thing -- people are scared of the smiling man. you’ve heard of him?” she asked, playfully slipping on a pair of mouse ears.

“Yes. I am.” Out of habit, she pat her bag. Things clanged around in her bag–her Book of Shadows, a few candle stubs, and more than a few crystals. Evangeline was quiet open about her practices when asked, and never hid herself–even though it seemed so much of the wizarding community wasn’t religious. 

sofia’s curiosity only grew at the small sounds emitted from the bag, teeth delicately sinking into her lower lip as she eyed it. “could you tell me more? it sounds like you have so many curious things and perhaps i could find something that fills my time rather than pretending that my rat whispers little things to me.” the last part was meant as a joke, but she wouldn’t be surprised if the other actually thought her crazy.

Roxanne spotted her in the halls and decided to pop up and say hello. She hadn’t spoken to her since their last conversation but she genuinely enjoyed her company. She ran to catch up to her and then smiled when she looked her way, “Hey, surprise.” He chuckled, “How’ve you been? I haven’t seen you around lately.”

sofia wasn’t used to looking up and keeping an eye out for anyone who knew her -- not many approached her. so, her eyes were usually down and focused either on her feet, a book, or her precious rat. so it was no surprise that roxie’s sudden and happy appearance caught her off guard -- though, it was welcome. sofia smiled brightly back, resting marzia onto her shoulder to keep her hands free. “oh, i don’t try to get noticed, so i’m glad that’s working for me,” she teased with a laugh. “i’ve been okay. it’s been rather quiet in my little spot of the world. what about you? you seem very happy. i hope good things have come your way since i’m accidentally accused you of a prank.”

Evangeline sighed and took her candle back. “Thanks,” she said, revealing a grateful, but overwhelmed smile. “I know, I know. They just don’t ever have what I need at Hogsmeade.” She studied the candle. It was done. She wished she could just have her father send her some, but she was so picky it probably wouldn’t work well. Then again, beggars can’t be choosers. “Oh, I was just praying.”

sofia found it interesting that the other couldn’t find what she was looking for in the small town -- she could find so much and then some every visit. “praying? you’re religious?” she asked, curious. she actually never heard any of the other students talking about religion nor did she hear of any religious witches or wizards. of course, growing up in italy she was no stranger to the most popular sorts.

a whine passed avery’s lips as he shook his head in protest, “i would much rather focus on you than sleep. sleep is for the weak!” and he was definitely weak. he crinkled his nose up slightly, “as much as i would like to experiment with looking more feminine, i think you have a point. i was cursed with gangly awkward limbs and a strong jawline.” he chuckled softly before sleepily rubbing at his eyes. “i mean… we could technically have a sleepover in the room of requirement. that’s always been a dream of mine… to just have this big pillow fort of us all.”

“if we look at you from the front,” she said, hands framing the other’s face as she gently turned it to face her. “you can’t see the jawline and your face looks softer,” she pointed out before releasing the other. “a pillow fort? i’ve never had one before, so i would love to have one. do you really think we could? i’ve always felt that i would never be allowed into the room -- it seems the more favorable students use it the most.”

posie was almost positive that she could hear the sound of her own heartbeat reverberating in her ears at this point, anticipation causing her to nearly tremble. but everything felt worthwhile the moment their lips finally touched. it was a feeling that she had so desperately missed and suddenly a fervent hunger took hold as she allowed herself to clutch sofia’s hands with her own before returning the kiss rather passionately. she wanted to ensure that this would last longer than it probably should. she pushed the thoughts of someone potentially walking in on them to the back of her mind, drinking in the beauty of this shared intimacy. if sofia truly missed last year’s chain of events, this would surely give her a faint taste of the not so distant memories. but would it truly be enough to satisfy either of them? she was betting on no.

sofia couldn’t help but feel as though she was drowning in the other. posie was in everything -- in sofia’s thoughts, the air, the space between them. sofia couldn’t find anything at the moment that didn’t involved the other girl. though she didn’t wish too and it hurt to do so, she forced herself to pull away slightly from the kiss. her breath was light and panting, her cheeks warm. “we shouldn’t. it will hurt too much when i see you again and have to stay away,” she said, voice weak. even now, being apart from the other reopened the aching wounds she was trying so desperately to heal.

Evangeline’s back was pressed up straight against the wall. Her legs were crossed into a pretzel. She held a candle–sharp purple and nothing but a nub–in her hands. With her eyes closed and her mind focused, she didn’t notice that the candle hand burned a little too low until– “Shit!” She jerked her hands away, and the candle fell to the floor, where it burned out. 

sofia may have found herself staring at the girl as she held the candle with her eyes clothes. she was curious as to what she was doing, and also a bit worried with how low the candle was burning. she was sure it was far too low when it was too late, watching the girl drop the candle. she quickly stood and walked over to pick up the candle, handing it over as she knelt down. “i think you may need a new one,” she lightly teased with a smile. “what are you doing?” she asked, unable to keep her prying question in check.

Jack chuckled lightly at her reaction. She probably was right. Girls were much harder to understand than boys. He tilted his head at her compliment. “I don’t know about that.” Jack didn’t really consider himself more than average looking, at best. And as for nice, well, he might’ve blown that, too. “But thank you.” He forced himself to smile, but it wasn’t the easiest thing to talk about. “I told her and she ran away. Not that I can blame her really, considering it was kinda an ambush.” He needed to change the subject. “What about you? No special person in your life?”

sofia gave a pout. she couldn’t quite understand why a girl would run away from a confession from such a great guy, but she supposed there could have been many reasons that weren’t her business -- especially considering how jack had turned the conversation on her. she bit down on her lip, offering a shrug. she wasn’t sure just how much she should spill, if anything at all. “not in my life, no. i did have someone quite special, but things became complicated, so it had to be ended. so, for now, it’s just me and marzia,” she said, chirping a bit more cheerfully at the mention of her rat.
