jamie-finch-fletchleyâ.
âOh, we donât have to,â Jamie assured him, noticing the older boyâs discomfort. âI can always go later with someone whoâd enjoy it. I donât want you to do anything you donât want to do.â Jamie gave him a small smile before asking âWhat rides do you want to go on?â
Avery let out a quiet sigh of relief, his shoulders relaxing slightly. âAre you sure you donât mind skipping out on it for now.â He glanced over at the many rides, a thoughtful escaping his lips. âIâve been really wanting to ride the ferris wheel or the Zipper! The carousel is also sorta classic but most people think itâs lame.â
cricket-parkinsonâ.
Cricket shrugged. âI donât know why,â he said, tone dry. âIâm concerned it may be quite loud in there or that there will be strobe lights.â A long pause. âI donât do well with strobe lights.â
âIâm worried about the same thing. All haunted houses use loud noises and strobes to disorientate people so that the scares are worse. Itâs unfair.â Avery sighed softly. âIt seems like a cheap scare tactic and strobe lights give me epic migraines.â
beulahxlunaâ.
Beulah glanced at Avery, then back at the haunted house. She had to admit that it wasnât at the top of the list of things she wanted to do, but sheâd go if a friend asked. âYou donât have to go in, you know,â she said and tucked her hair behind her ear.Â
Avery pursed his lips slightly as he looked Beulah over with a hint of skepticism, âWait⊠you donât have any desire to go inside?â He thought he was probably the only one, or at least he felt that way after watching several fellow students he knew go inside.
joelpatilâ.
âCommon, it wonât be that bad. Weâll go in quickly and then leave if it gets too bad.â He assured the other with a hint of a smile knowing that he was simply putting on a brave face for him. âArenât you at least a little curious to see whatâs in the haunted house?â
âOh trust me, Iâm definitely curious but Iâm not sure itâs worth embarrassing myself. No matter how deep my normal voice is, my screams are a bit on the hitch pitched side.â Avery chuckled nervously. âIâm kinda the type to commit to something so even if Iâm terrified, I feel like itâd be something I have to see through to the end.â He ran his fingers through his hair. âOh my god, what if I pass out from panicking?â
ludcvicasâ.
At his reaction, she let out a small laugh. âThank you, thank you. That definitely makes me feel awesome.â It wasnât as if she hadnât been hearing it all night, but she did find it amusing how many different ways she could hear the same compliment. At his words, she turned to look at him. âHold on, youâve never drank before? Damn, now I have to make sure this goes well for you.â She hummed. âHow about a Blood Orange Sangria?â
Averyâs cheeks flushed slightly, feeling a slight twinge of regret when it came to admitting the fact he hadnât drank prior to this. But he felt like it was something he needed to try tonight. If not now, when? âIâve never really found interest in trying before, but I want to try something new tonight.â He rubbed the back of his neck, interest piquing at the drinkâs name. âIt already sounds fancy. I trust your judgment, so Blood Orange Sangria it is!â He pursed his lips slightly. âWhat are you going to get?â
aura-hallâ.
She looked at the teddy bear in his arms, temporarily distracted by how cute it was. Perhaps sheâd try to win one later. Aura looked up at him finally, beaming. âI havenât gone in there either, but maybe itâs worth it, you know? For the whole experience,â she said, before another thought occurred to her. âDo you think the ghosts in there are hungry? Maybe we can give them candy as we go through.â
The experience, sure. Maybe it was only worth it to prove that he wasnât cowardly as everyone believed. To prove that he actually belonged in Gryffindor, something he questioned a lot. Avery nodded slightly, âMaybeâŠâ He the word trail off before his eyes widened at her suggestion. âYou know what, thatâs actually a really good idea. Who can focus on scaring people when there is candy involved?â
gembuchananâ.
âAnd short enough,â Gemma chuckled and adjusted the wings once more. âBut thank you, Avery, youâre so sweet. Are you ready to have some fun?â
âYour tiny stature kinda just adds to your charm.â Avery chuckled softly before nodding his head excitedly. âI am! Iâve been begging a few people to go on the Zipper with me but no one wants to. I canât believe some people are passing up all these awesome rides and games for some drinks.âÂ
xoxorubiesâ.
Ruby had won a stuufed animal of her own, a stuffed monkey which had locking arm with velcro on its hands, wrapped around her neck and dangling behind her. âAre you sure? They say its pretty fun. I mean getting scared lets out a lot of endorphins which is also what happens when someone is having fun. Not the same but you can laugh after having a good scare.â
Averyâs teeth nervously sunk into his bottom lip, gaze flickering over to the haunted house before it focused back on Ruby. âNo one has said it was too scary?â So much for pretending he wasnât scared. âIf you really want to go in, I might try it. As long as you let me hold onto you for support and donât laugh at me if I end up screaming.â He joked.
frenchpoisonâ.
gabriel quirked up a brow as he looked between the other and the house, amused smirk on his lips. âyou can do all of that after the house too. itâs just a quick walk through. donât let all the hard work of setting up the house go to waste â rory will be so sad,â he tried to convince, stepping closer to avery and putting a gentle hand on the small of his back. âlook, after this whole thing, iâll watch more disney movies with you to make it up to you. i just want to see whatâs inside. you can keep your bear with you and iâll even walk in front of you and hold your hand â in case you do get a little spooked. but, of course, youâre not scared. and, look at me,â he said, motioning to his costume. âiâm a prince. i have to test my valiant courage by going through this or else i have to get rid of this look. i canât be a prince if i canât own up to it.â
the moment the other took the route of a guilt trip, avery felt a bit ashamed that he hadnât bothered to think about the hard work that went into setting up the haunted house. his shoulders sagged slightly as he met gabrielâs gaze, âi doubt rory will really mind considering how many people have actually gone in there.â yes, he had been keeping track. he puffed his cheeks out slightly, âthough if youâre willing to make it up to meâŠâ he let his words trail off slightly. âbut donât begin to think that i need protecting.â he jabbed his finger against the otherâs chest in a playful manner. â--and i totally donât need my hand to be held but i think youâll need to hold his.â he offered his stuffed bearâs hand out to gabriel, a smirk on his lips. would he actually take it? surely that amusement would distract him while he walked through the house.
Avery sat there with his arms wrapped around the giant teddy bear that he had managed to win, a pout fixed on his lips. âI want to let you know that Iâm not scared to go in the haunted house, just not in the mood. Why would I want to get scared for fun when I can just keep eating and go ride some rides?â Translation: Heâs definitely too scared to go into the haunted house.
alyxzabiniâ.
âSorry, Iâm not trying to stare, Iâm just trying to figure out what your costume is exactly.â Alyx liked seeing people dress up. It was something they had always enjoyed to do when they were younger and they were defiantly not going to miss this party. âI like it.â They smiled slightly at the other person.Â
Avery found himself suddenly feeling insecure when he had caught Alyx staring, they had always intimidated him -- friends or not. But he felt at ease the moment he heard their explanation that was followed with a compliment. He flashed them a smile, feeling proud of his costume considering the fact he had made it himself. âYou do? Thank you!â It was hard to hide his excitement. âIâm Howl from this movie called Howlâs Moving Castle. Not many people here would probably know it, but I couldnât resist. Plus, itâs a bit funny⊠Howlâs a wizard in the movie so itâs like the most authentic you can get to the real thing.â He joked. âYou having fun?â
gembuchananâ.
âThe wings probably wonât be my smartest idea,â Gemma commented as she adjusted the fairy wings on her back. âBut Happy Halloween, eh?â
Avery chuckled softly as he overlooked the over, âI think theyâre actually pretty cute, but I can only imagine that theyâd get in the way eventually.â He bit down on his bottom lip. âYou look pretty enough to be a fairy with or without them.âÂ
ludcvicasâ.
She went all out on her Catwoman costume that night, and she knew that she was killing it. Skintight suit, mask, earsânot to forget, her signature red lipstick went well with the whole outfit. One could say that she was absolutely in her element. As she waited for Montague to go and get changed at the costumes station, she made her way to the open bar, flipping open the drink menu. âAnd what fancy Halloween drinks did Rory come up with this year?âÂ
Avery had been leaning up against the bar for a few minutes prior, mulling over the options for drinks on the menu before him. He looked far too concentrated for such a simple decision. When he heard a voice beside him, his attention flickered over to the source and his jaw almost dropped. âHoly shit, you look awesome!â He quickly looked back toward the menu, not wanting to stare too much. âThese drinks all seem pretty extra. I⊠Iâve actually never drank before. What would you suggest? Whatâs the tastiest option?â
halcyonxlockhartâ.
ââS a start at the least!â Halcyon clapped him on the shoulder. âOn wards and up wards, aye?â He moved his hand to rub at his chin. He, himself, had never really thought about what it would be like to read someoneâs mind. About how you could know how someone really felt about you. But that was probably because he took everyone at their word. âWell, âm not one for lying. So you can believe me when I say ya really great thus far.â
A smile was quick to return to Averyâs lips at the otherâs statement of reassurance, âYouâre right, progress is progress isnât it?â Even though he wasnât entirely sure how to improve further, that was an issue he would have to save for another time and place. The idea and prospect of a new friendship was enough for him, putting him in a state of mild elation. âIt makes me happy that you think that! I mean, you could change your mind if we hung out somewhere else, but I hope you wouldnât.â He rambled. âMaybe we could though⊠sometime? Hangout, that is. Preferably not at a Quidditch match.â
