Hello? Is anyone out there? I'm Aurora Bloeme Blüher, Hugh's mother (She/her). I've kinda been taken hostage (it's complicated), so I've made this blog to entertain myself. It's quite lonely here.

May I be apart of this? I haven't talked to humans in decades.

My ex(?), Flaschem- I mean, "The Bluebell King" is here too. He uses He/Fae/They pronouns. Be nice.

Flaschem looks over Aurora's shoulders. He may not understand how this 'tumblr' thing works, but something looks different.

Why is that icon-He points the profile picture of the blog.-a photo of us from...before? He's careful with his words. He doesn't want to strike a cord in her once again.

Aurora glances away. I-I don't know. I thought it'll be nicer than a bluebell. Do you want me to change it back?

No. Leave it like that. I'm not used to seeing us like that. So happy...

Aurora's mouth drags into a faint bittersweet. One Flaschem used to create on the regular. It's so rare to see it now. We really were.

(Aurora wakes up before the sun the next day. She could have waited until Flaschem had left for the day, but she's too impatient. So, she will have to deal with his vines, wrapping around her and pulling her closer to their bed for now.

She recovers the letter and an old pen from her bedside drawer. She lights up a nearby candle to see the words as she starts to write on the back of the paper:)

Dear Hugh,

I have received your letter in good condition. Inga is a very smart girl for suggesting this method. Tell her I thank her.

I'm sorry to hear grandma has passed away. She was a good woman. She helped me through my toughest times, and I hoped she help you through yours. I'll send her some flowers when I get the chance. For your present, I would give you the world if I could, but all I have here are flowers. I hope that's alright.

Don't worry about me and your father. You just need to know that I'm alright and I will fight to return back to you, baby. There's no paper in this cottage. Can you send some with your next letter? Thank you, honey.

(A small little caw comes from the window. The messenger bird is back. Slowly, she places the letter in front of it.

Can you send this back please?

It nods and takes the letter into its mouth. She watches the bird fly away in the morning) light.)

(Every night, while waiting for Flaschem to return to their bed, Aurora sits by her windowsill, staring at her only glimpse of the outside world. This time, however, is different. A small crow flies through the open window, clutching a envelope in its mouth.

Hello, little one. You have a gift for me? She whispers, making sure not to attract attention.

The creature nods. She gently grabs the letter from the bird, ruffling its feathers as a reward. It coos. She opens the envelope carefully and starts to read:)

Dear Mummy,

I hope this letter finds you well. I don't know where you are or that you're even alive. Inga was the one who suggested to use birds as a messenger.

I should probably update you on my life. I used to live with Grandma for awhile, but then she passed away. Now, I live with Inga's dad and get to see Inga during the holidays. We made presents and cards for each other! I can't wait to open them!

I hope the orchid man is treating you well and has not killed you. I don't want you to be Hans!I hope I can see some day. Can you write me back, so I know you got this letter?

(Before Aurora could even process her emotions on the matter, Flaschem calls out:

Bumblebee, come here~

She quickly wipes her wet eyes and shoves the letter into the nearest drawer. She will need to write a response another day.)

Oh, that’s kind of you to ask. Yes, I’m alright. ...I’m sure every mother thinks this at one point, but I truly never thought motherhood could be so harrowing.

– but, yes, my son is lovely. He’s stronger than I ever could’ve hoped for, really. Adjusting to a new neighborhood can be tough, but he’s doing well. <3

Motherhood is quite difficult, but it's the best thing that happened to me.

That's lovely to hear! I'm doing the best I can be when I'm a hostage. It's not great. I just hope wherever Hugh is, he's okay and safe.
