If someone is private , selective, or anything at all —-it is because that is what makes them comfortable. It isn’t an action that is directed towards you to purposely insult you or your writing. Please, respect people && their comfort zones. They have their blog the way it is for a reason. Don’t guilt people into coming out of their comfort zone because you feel ‘offended’. If you’re offended by something that a stranger has done, then perhaps you should merely remove yourself from the situation entirely.

Rewritten

{So, this is basically the beginning of one of my new verses. It turned out much longer than I’d originally planned, but I can’t be bothered to try and shorten it any. If anyone wants more information, feel free to let me know. Also, don’t hesitate to throw things at me if I failed to tag any triggers.}

The pale light of the full moon had the brunette even more on edge than usual, unease tying her stomach in knots as she tightened her grip on the hand in hers. She ignored the swamp mud trying to hold her in place, pulling a drunken blonde behind her, thankful for the girl’s silence. Maybe she felt it too, felt that there was something not quite right about the stillness in the air and the lack of noise as they moved. 

It wasn’t until they were just four yards from the abandoned little shack she and the others had been living in that it hit her. A breeze, hot and thick with summer air, chilled her to the bone as she caught the scent of blood and strangers. Had she triggered her curse she would’ve noticed long before that moment, she would’ve turned and ran, dragging the other behind her and not stopping until they reached the city. Instead she stopped dead in her tracks, grinding her teeth and wishing they were still in the trees. “Stay here, Melly, something’s wrong. I’ll be back in a moment, okay?” She didn’t wait for an answer before releasing the blonde’s hand and darting off towards the shack. 

She was faster than a human. Faster, stronger, even had heightened senses. The price that came with it was one she’d never hated quite so much as she did in that moment, the overwhelming pang of guilt and sorrow ripping a cry from her lips as she fell to her knees just inside the door. She doubted she’d ever survive turning, be it activating her werewolf gene or dying and waking as a vampire. The emotions alone would tear her apart. She crawled forward, slowly, searching for a pulse on the first body she found, choking back a sob when she found none and moved on. She couldn’t see, tears and dim light saving her from the sight of what would still haunt her memories. She practically laughed with relief when she finally felt warmth beneath her fingers, a slow but steady rhythm beating against her touch. She pulled a knife from a sheath around her thigh and drew it across her hand, letting her blood mix into the wounds of the unconscious form beneath her, knowing it’d speed the healing just as well, maybe even better, than the blood of a vampire would.

“Hope...?” The sound was barely a gasp, pulling her attention back to the doorway. Seconds that felt like hours passed before she was up and across the room, Mel’s thin frame falling into her arms. The other was already gone by the time Hope caught her, an inhuman scream tearing through the silence that still lingered on the night air. It was then that she saw them, three of them standing a small distance from her, all blood and smirks. Hunters. Hunters thinking they’d just wiped out a coven or pack or something just as incorrect. She carefully unwound her arms from her friend’s body, brushing the yellow curls from her face before turning her attention back to the hunters and rising to her feet.

She could feel herself losing her grip on who she was. Could feel the beast lurking in the back of her mind pushing for control as the wind began to whip about the clearing. She could hear the darkness in her voice, the monster she’d always been afraid of becoming. “They were human. Innocents. And you will pay for every drop of their blood you spilt.” The pure, icy rage in her eyes was met by the panic in theirs, their fear practically rolling off them. They’d underestimated her, thought she was just an easy target, a teenage girl that wouldn’t be able to put up a fight. But she was her father’s daughter, and she would stop at nothing until she had avenged the wrongs done to the people she cared for.

The woman was first, the other two throwing her at the witch in an attempt to earn themselves more time to escape, instead leading themselves to a much more painful end. Where her death had been quick, a neck snapped with a spell, they were hunted by the beast she became. Torn limb from limb and left scattered across the swamp, food for the wildlife that seemed to have been waiting.

She woke with the dawn, curled on a dock somewhere in the bayou. She didn’t move, her body still aching and reminding her of what had happened. She wanted to pretend it was just a dream, that the blood dried on her skin was all in her head an that her friends were alive, that she was still just the witch she’d always been. She broke into tears, her frame shaking with each sob. The sun was hanging high above her by the time she pulled herself together, stumbling back into the woods and towards New Orleans, letting her body lead the way. She was scared, needed clothes and food, and something in the city called to her. With any luck, there would at least be some sort of safety waiting for her when she arrived wherever she was going. Everything she knew, everything she’d been, was changing. She was being rewritten, and she wasn’t sure how much of herself would survive the changes.

I don’t believe that people who do bad things are really bad inside; maybe one day that’s going to kill me. I want to believe that there’s some beautiful being behind the evil doing, but maybe that’s not always the case.
