Malachite moved her large fingers down , catching the child’s chin with her finger tip. Such a fascinating little thing. She had seen small gems before. But none quite like this one.
“ I̛ ̨wa͠s̨ m̵ade̴ of J́a̴spe̢r͜ ҉and L҉apiś ̴L̨a̷zul̵i.͝ ͏ ͏ B͝u͠ţ…Thęy'͟ve̵ ͜l͜o̡ng̨ si̡nce͡ ͞died͞.͢ ́I͝ a͝m just͞ M̕a͠la͝c̛h͠ité ̶n͟ow͏.͡ ̕ “
The fusion gave a raspy chuckle.
“So they lost thems-selves? I thought that w-was just a myth made to prevent gems f-from fusing…”
Tensing up, she glanced away from the massive gem to her finger. It was cool to the touch and unnerved her greatly. Despite Ruby’s veteran status, she doubted that she could take this gem in a fight. But that was just the worse case scenario. If she played her cards right there would be no need for violence.
“I knew a Jasper. She was s-strong and respected.”
Malachite cracked that wicked grin of her’s wider and wider, it seemed. Her fangs were very much so out in the open now. Her head cocked sharply to the side as she looked over the child. So small. Defenseless. And so innocent, too, speaking of myths like this. She almost pitied her, really.
“ O͡h͢, ͡n͝o.͠ It's ńo myt̴h.̸ “
She laughed.
“ I̵ ̷am̧ a̢ ̢fle̶sh ̢a̵n͠d̨ ͏bl̶o̶od e̴xa̛mple ͡òf ̷exactly ͘ho͘w ̢fus͝ing̡ c̡an̴ go̧ ̷w̵r͡on̷ģ,̷ Kìd.̧”
And that was the damn truth. There were so many things that could go wrong with fusion. And it seemed like every single damn thing that could possibly go wrong went wrong with Malachite.
“Ơh҉ ͘y͘éa͞h̸?̕ ͏” Malachite cooed. “ To̕o ́bad ͢sh̀e'͏s ͏d͢ead n̸ow̴. ͝” ͞
