Suffering.
Rope doesn’t need to look pretty or be elaborate to be effective.
I had no idea where the rope was going to take me when I began this scene however I did know the intent was to be a methodical process based on restriction, stress, and time.
Notice how this is simply a series of single column ties, cinches, and locks. The motivation for this scene and the most effective rope is the unseen wrap around the diaphragm which is locked off on the above bamboo to hinder her breathing.
Beyond the safety aspects, lack of circulation will limit the time of your scene. Observe how the double column tie is only found on her wrists, not any other part of her arm. Avoid joints, nerves and the blood vessels which traverse these areas.
Each rope applied will alter her upright frame and pull her in opposing directions to shift the majority of weight onto her toes into a stress position.
Tie with intent. Keep the running end of your rope taught as a form of silent communication. Seize on opportunities which her body language will reveal. Maintain eye contact even though she’s unable to see you.
Create a scene as journey, not a destination.
