“Viper, it’s been a while.”
“…you look good.”
“Perhaps not long enough.” Viper’s frown slowly morphed into a smirk. “And you look... alive.”

This honestly looks like Steve is walking onto a blind date and is not happy that Madame Hrydra’s online profile was completely false.

I’ve got {demons} in my head,

and - DARKNESS - in my heart
but I’m still s t a n d i n g
He had a good 5 inches on her but it didn’t stop her from standing up straighter and glaring at him. She poked at his chest with a perfectly manicured (and probably too sharp) green nail.
"Apparently it’s something because I can always feel you nagging me when we’re fighting trying to give me orders. I’ve taken out bigger men than you Steve Rogers so don’t think you can push me arou-” Her rant was cut off when a nearby J-Tech officer cleared his throat loudly. Ophelia turned and glared but dropped it when they were told that they were needed immediately for he debriefing. She scowled but backed up from her partner to follow the officer.
He winced as her manicured nail pressed into the meaty part of his pec, but didn’t say anything about that as she continued to rant. She just didn’t quite seem to understand that he was seasoned on this, that he had enough military training to know better than to pull some of the insane stunts she thought might work but would actually get them both killed. It wasn’t that he blamed her for lacking the training, but he damn well wished she’d listen to him when he clearly knew better -
"I’m a soldier, Sarkissian,” he hissed at her as they followed the attendant. “I’m always going to give orders. You knew that getting in the Jaeger, and you know that on the field. If you’d bother to look when I’m trying to tell you it doesn’t work…” He stopped as they halted in front of the Marshall’s office door, and took a deep breath. He shot Ophelia a look that clearly meant he intended to continue the conversation later before pushing the door open and gesturing for her to lead the way.
Their argument was cut short by their debriefing as usual. And as usual the marshall had nothing but good things to say about their performance. Despite how much they disliked each other they worked well together. Even if they might have differing plans they didn't spend time waffling back and forth between them when they got out to the battle field. They worked seamlessly as a team. That was the drift.
At least that's what Ophelia assumed.
They weren't compatible in any other way so it had to be that. When they were dismissed the shorter ranger stormed from the office, not pausing to wait for her partner to resume their conversation. She needed a long work out in the kwoon if she was going to stifle her anger.
