His lips twitched up at the other’s reaction but he didn’t show any other sign of how pleased he was by this turn of events. Things could get so tense between them at times, it was just nice for a short break. It was a quick moment though and he brought his hand down to cover Hayden’s, unwilling to get hit again.
Face heating up at the question, he nodded quickly because he didn’t know what to say for a few moments. “Of course. Why?”
“You told me to trust you.” Hayden tugged at their hand and shoved both of them into their pockets, peering at the taller behind the wrapping of the warm scarf.
“And I did. Despite everything, I still do. Don’t break it, Ryo.”
okay so i always see like bad boy meets angelic girl but i really want a thing where roles are reversed and the boy is this innocent, studious, quiet male and the girl is this wild, reckless, almost dangerous spirit and she basically ruins him, until her name is the only one that ever falls off his lips.

His frown quickly deepened and he couldn’t even argue with Hayden. It was the truth. He was about to make an equally sarcastic comment when he heard the small cry of pain. With a quick grab to Hayden’s elbow to stop them, he moved to block their path on the sidewalk.
“You okay?” he asked lightly, unwrapping his scarf to slowly wind it around Hayden’s neck. Ryo used the fabric to tug them closer and he pressed his lips to Hayden’s forehead lightly. “You need to be more careful.”
Hayden didn’t even have the time to rub the tip of their nose before colliding with the taller male’s hard chest, stumbling back a little and preparing to scold him for the clumsy move. It caught Hayden entirely off guard when the familiar scent of his clothing wrapped around their cold neck, lips parting to let out a quiet noise in shock.
“...Hey,” They finally muttered, gently pressing a balled fist to Ryo’s abdomen in a limp throw. “You remember my birthday?”

Ryo looked at the text warily, his thumbs ghosting over the surface of the phone. He considered replying for only a brief second before it buzzed again in his hand. A few seconds later he wished he had turned his phone off.
[ TXT ] And we both know you have a nice ass
[txt] I don’t know where this is going and I don’t want to know.

The annoyance wasn’t lost on Ryo and he wanted to wince at his words. He was trying to smooth things out between them, had been trying since Hayden found out the truth about him. “When I was a kid I was always kind of upset that Wendy chose to go back home. Who would willingly choose to grow up?”
“…Your half is getting anchovies and you’ve got to leave my side alone.”
“You certainly did.” Hayden commented, burrowing further into the zipped up coat.
“Are you going to split the lab in half, too?” They snorted and immediately regretted it when their nose caught on the zipper, giving a small ‘ouch’ and wrinkling the sting away.
