âYou donât know the first thing about love, because you donât understand compromise.â
closer (dir. mike nichols, 2004)
âYou told me to trust you.â Hayden tugged at their hand and shoved both of them into their pockets, peering at the taller behind the wrapping of the warm scarf.
âAnd I did. Despite everything, I still do. Donât break it, Ryo.âÂ
Although he would never regret being a cop, he would always regret the way he lied to Hayden. The other found out on their own too, Ryo wondered sometimes that if there was no child involved if Hayden would have anything to do with him right now.
He gulped before nodding hastily. He wanted to apologize again but he couldn't. "I wont," he muttered before offering his hand.
The gash was deep, but not deep enough to require stitches. Using a free hand to adjust her dark framed glasses, she examined the cut once more. A soft laugh escaped her lips, as she grabbed a cotton ball filled with antibacterial medicine.âFirst aid.â She murmured, as she gently began to dab the cotton ball on the gash, trying not to put too much pressure on it.âLearned how to sew from my grandmother, though.â Teresaâs voice was soft, doing as much as she can to relax the stranger as she helped attend to his wound.
His jaw clenched when he felt the cotton ball touch his wound, he was used to cleaning them like this even though they honestly didn't happen often. The last thing he wanted to do was drag a kind stranger into his mess. Ryo didn't say much about the wound itself, only let out a small hum as she continued to move. "So what's the verdict then? Can this shirt be saved?" he arched an eyebrow up even though he didn't care either way. This was just probably a moment to speak up, she was helping him after all.
                    oops! iâve gone crazy.

Hayden didnât even have the time to rub the tip of their nose before colliding with the taller maleâs hard chest, stumbling back a little and preparing to scold him for the clumsy move. It caught Hayden entirely off guard when the familiar scent of his clothing wrapped around their cold neck, lips parting to let out a quiet noise in shock.
ââŚHey,â They finally muttered, gently pressing a balled fist to Ryoâs abdomen in a limp throw. âYou remember my birthday?â
His lips twitched up at the other's reaction but he didn't show any other sign of how pleased he was by this turn of events. Things could get so tense between them at times, it was just nice for a short break. It was a quick moment though and he brought his hand down to cover Hayden's, unwilling to get hit again.
Face heating up at the question, he nodded quickly because he didn't know what to say for a few moments. "Of course. Why?"

okay so i always see like bad boy meets angelic girl but i really want a thing where roles are reversed and the boy is this innocent, studious, quiet male and the girl is this wild, reckless, almost dangerous spirit and she basically ruins him, until her name is the only one that ever falls off his lips.Â

The shots of pain were quickly ebbing away as the voice broke him from his embarrassment. âWell, itâs not good,â he hummed to himself as he moved to crouch down next to the fallen figure. He tried to tug her out of the way when a speeding bike seemed to have flown by, but perhaps he was a bit too forceful. Ryo ended up pulling the poor girl onto the ground with him, his legs sprawled diagonally over her own. So much for the agility he learned back in the academy.
He rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. He was sure he would have a bruise the next day so hopefully she wouldnât wake up with something much worse. âIâm sorry about that. I was only trying to help,â he apologized, standing up and offering the stranger a hand. âDo you think you can stand?â
âHere, let me help, I took a course on this a few years ago.â

He knew he looked suspicious with the cut shirt on his upper arm and the small gash there. And with all the excuses he had in the world the best he could come up with was incredibly dull. âI got caught by a fence,â he explained blankly to the stranger as soon as he got out of the building and bumped into her on the sidewalk. Life as a bodyguard was already hard enough, but especially for one who was as hated as his boss. He sighed at the comment and brought his hand to the cut, he wasnât aware of the blood even being visible.
âA course to sew my shirt back or-â he interrupted himself with a raised eyebrow. He wasnât one who worried about infections, he would just dump something on it when he got home. But something about this girl felt safe, which immediately had to put him on edge.
âYou certainly did.â Hayden commented, burrowing further into the zipped up coat.
âAre you going to split the lab in half, too?â They snorted and immediately regretted it when their nose caught on the zipper, giving a small âouchâ and wrinkling the sting away.
His frown quickly deepened and he couldnât even argue with Hayden. It was the truth. He was about to make an equally sarcastic comment when he heard the small cry of pain. With a quick grab to Haydenâs elbow to stop them, he moved to block their path on the sidewalk.
âYou okay?â he asked lightly, unwrapping his scarf to slowly wind it around Haydenâs neck. Ryo used the fabric to tug them closer and he pressed his lips to Haydenâs forehead lightly. âYou need to be more careful.â
âLie down. Sit somewhere, you need to rest.â

He was a panting mess. Ryo wondered if his right eye was starting to swell up, he was already having difficulty seeing out of it. Another drug deal gone wrong, another outcome of a predictable story that made him wonder if he really was doing anything good for the city of Seoul. He ran at the flash of a gun. Before he would have stayed and fight, but now he had people he had to protect. Ryo ran aimlessly, ran until he was certain no one was behind him. And all but managed in front of a library of all places. Ryo was fond of books as a child, but lately he had no time for the temporary escape they provided.
The womanâs voice relaxed him some, even though he flinched at the same time. He brought his hand up to cover his eye and tried to bow politely. âI donât want to cause you any trouble, I just-â A sudden wave of exhaustion flooded over him and he offered a polite smile. âI mightâŚ. Yes-â He looked around for an appropriate place to sit.

Ryo looked at the text warily, his thumbs ghosting over the surface of the phone. Â He considered replying for only a brief second before it buzzed again in his hand. Â A few seconds later he wished he had turned his phone off.
"Lie down. Sit somewhere, you need to rest.â

He missed the spinning fan in his room, he enjoyed staring up at the ceiling and being completely entranced by it. It was almost meditating. Yet he hadnât been home for the past few days, either spending his nights locked up in a lab or playing errand boy. Tonight was going to be different, he was going to go home immediately and he wasnât going to risk driving. Walking felt far too impossible in his state. Hailing a cab was the smartest option. Tripping over his own foot and almost slamming his face against the door was not.
The driverâs concern made him snort and he opened the door to take a seat in the back. âIt doesnât seem all that comfortable back here to lay down,â he observed with a quick twitch of his lips upwards. Even the thought of his bed was exciting him. He gave the woman the directions to his place and rested his forehead against the glass window.

âDo you have any bandages?â
âOh god, that hurts so much.â
âEverything hurts. Seriously, I think I broke myself.â
âI canât walk.â
âSorry about the blood trail. I might have gotten a bad gash.â
âIs is bad that I canât feel my legs?â
âIâve never felt this much pain in my life.â
âAre you okay? Are you bleeding?"
âHere, let me help, I took a course on this a few years ago.â
âDoes anyone know first-aid?â
âThatâs a pretty bad bruise, man.â
âYou definitely need to go to the hospital.â
âWhereâd you get all these cuts?â
âLie down. Sit somewhere, you need to rest.â
âIâll get the ice.â
âI canât believe you got yourself beaten up again.â
âHow many hospital bills are you worth, anyway?"
