âI donât think so, either. I think that anyone who says theyâve one before is a liar and they probably ended it on a technicality or something like that.â She started laughing the more she thought about it. She remembered how many arguments her brothers would try to start over every single game, and how sheâd just sit back and watch, laugh, and then end up having to break it up after a whileâonly to have them want to start a new game again. âI canât believe you want to, oh god. Iâm all for it, I just donât want to wreck your car or anything, Iâd feel so bad. Are you sure?â She gave him a guilty looking face, even though she hadnât even done anything to his car just yet. âCan we even get our own little gang patches? We need to think of a cool name for our gang. Like Thorâs posse, or something..â She laughed at her own joke and shook her head, covering her mouth. âI promise Iâm not trying to be too lame.â She kept laughing, not being able to stop. When he put his hand to her cheek, she felt chills go down her spine, but she didnât budge. âThatâs good to know. That makes me feel a lot better.â She laughed at his advce, slowly leaning in when he did, feeling her heart pound against her chestâshe wasnât entirely sure why she was getting so worked up, but she was. She kissed him back sweetly, trying not to move her lips too much, but also trying to stay in sync with him. After a few seconds, her hand was on his chest and she slowly pulled away. âOhâ Wow. Wow.â She laughed, her neck and face heating up. âWow.â
"Probably. It doesn't ever end. They have that new version though that only lasts like twenty minutes. Maybe you should get your brothers that one. They wouldn't have to fight anymore." He laughed. Dawson always felt bad that Layla didn't have her brothers around. From the way she spoke about them, he could tell they were extremely close siblings, and since he knew what her mother was like, he was sure it wasn't easy for her leaving them home with her. "Yeah, I don't mind. We'll start out in like a completely empty field and then you'll have nothing to worry about." He nodded, knowing that would be the safest option for them. "Thor's Posse? That's perfect. We can get him a leather vest that says that on the back too." He smirked, shaking his head. "You're in a biker gang now, Layla. You can't possibly be uncool now." When their lips met, Dawson felt chills down his entire body. When she kissed him back, he couldn't help but smile against her lips softly as he pulled away. "Wow." He agreed, nodding a little. "You're definitely not a bad kisser." He smiled.
@itslucy: @hyfrdawson honestly when do girls ever make sense
@itslucy: @hyfrdawson idk just need to leave this place. any suggestions??
@hyfrdawson: @itslucy I don't know, why do you guys have to be so complicated?
@hyfrdawson: @itslucy I think it's nice here. But Florida is right down there, go to Disney and cheer up.
@itslucy: @hyfrdawson probably but whatevs, still need it
@hyfrdawson: @itslucy that makes no sense though
@hyfrdawson: @itslucy but where are you going
@itslucy: why does none of the shit i need ever fit in my suitcase?

@hyfrdawson: @itslucy just a guess.

âThose poor pandas. Does the game never really end? Does any game end? Iâve never finished a game of Monopoly once in my entire life and I think itâs because my brothers arenât very good at losing.â Layla laughed a bit at the memory; when it was just the three of them, they did everything to keep busy. Theyâd finish their chores, then Layla would try and find some game to keep them occupied, and it often ended up being a silly bored game. âReally? Dawson, youâre gonna end up teaching me more in the few weeks weâve known each other than anyone else has in my entire life. Oh dear, I know. Trust me, I know.â She laughed again, but she couldnât help but smile at the fact he always seemed so willing to help her out, no matter what it was with. âThey are. They can take you places and tell you a million stories just in that one spot, youâll never be bored.â She nodded enthusiastically, âOf course you do. I think Iâll put that dancing lady in the red dress. That seems pretty saucy to me.â Layla hadnât really thought too far into her question before she asked it, but his method seemed to make sense. She really couldnât think of how one could explain how to kiss without actually demonstrating. She scrunched up her nose before smiling a bit. âOkay, okay. Okay. I think weâll be fine. Iâm nervous, though, Iâm afraid Iâll be really bad.â She laughed a bit, her face bright red at this point. She scooted closer to him, waiting instruction.
"You can beat certain games. I don't think Monopoly is one of those games though. Nobody wins, you just lose friends and family by the end of it." He shook his head, laughing even more. He never had siblings of his own to play board games with, and his parents certainly wouldn't sit down and play them with him, but he still had played a few different ones whether it was in elementary school or with friends, and he knew very well how long Monopoly could go. "Yeah, of course. You'll probably end up having to learn at some point. I might as well be the one to teach you." Dawson offered, figuring they could just find a big field or somewhere empty, that way he wouldn't have to be too incredibly concerned about her wrecking his car at first. Then they could go out on a road once she was a little more confident. "You'll have to be there with me. We'll have to get you some more leather so you fit in with all of us. Thor too." He nodded. "Oh yeah, that fits me perfectly." Dawson sat himself up and scooted a little bit closer to her. He was surprised that she actually wanted to go through with this, but he had to admit, he was kind of excited. "Okay, just relax. I think as a girl you get a free pass, because guys are just fucking thrilled a girl is kissing them in the first place." He laughed, looking at her for a moment as he pressed his hand to her cheek. "Just close your eyes, and do what kind of feels natural." He shrugged, not really sure how else to explain it as he pressed his lips gently to hers.

âOh, perfect, Iâll download that later, then. The only games I have on my phone are the trivia ones because people always want to challenge and then they stop playing and Iâm all by myself.â She laughed a bit at the fact, remembering how many apps went in and out of popularity in the blink of an eye in her last year of high school. Layla was more than excited to try new things, even if it was something as simple as playing a video game for the first time or trying a food sheâd never had before. She just wanted to explore what everyone else did. âHopefully Iâll never need it, oh god. Um- No, no one did. My dad always had the car for work so I just walked everywhere with my mom and took the bus when we needed to go farther. Maybe thatâs the real secret to life.â She laughed, âNo, no, itâll up your cool factor. I bet youâll make so many new biker friends who also bring their dogs on rides. Thatâs a whole new world for you to explore!â She kept laughing and nodded at his question. âYes it is. Thatâs your new contact name in my phone.â Layla felt weird asking him what she was asking him, but she knew sheâd never get a real answer unless she was asking someone she trusted. Her eyebrows rose and she looked over at him again, âYou could? Thatâ That wouldnât be weird, or anything?â She asked, turning towards him more.Â
"Then the panda game will be perfect for you because the pandas are always in distress no matter what. The babboons just don't stop." He shook his head as if he was truly upset by it, then ended up laughing once again just because the more he sat there and explained the purpose of video games, he realized how silly they all sounded. "I can teach you to drive if you want. So you know how to do it, just in case. And buses usually have creepy people on them at certain hours, you don't always wanna ride those." He shook his head, knowing Layla didn't often go out that late in the middle of the night, but he figured just in case. "They'll probably be like 80 year old couples, but that's okay. Old people are tons of fun." He laughed again, just shaking his head at the ridiculous image he had in his head of all of them riding on the bike together. "Do I get an emoji next to it? Is there a sauce emoji?" Dawson didn't want to seem too forward with his response, but he didn't really know how to explain kissing, with out actually doing it. "I don't know. We can try it, and if it's weird, we can stop." He shrugged, smiling a bit.
Food Heals All Wounds || Layla&Dawson
âI love pandas, though, oh my god. Iâve never heard of that one before. Or any other than the really old Mario ones, and I havenât even played those. What do you even play games on?â She laughed a bit more; she had a general idea as to what people played games on, but sheâd never actually seen one up close or played with an Xbox or anything like that. âYouâre right. I donât know if Iâll ever drive, though. I donât have a car, or a license, or anything. Maybe Iâll walk my whole life and my legs will be really muscular when the rest of me falls apart when Iâm old.â She laughed again, sahking her head at the conversation. âGood, thank god. Oh my god, Iâm holding you to that. I wonât ride unless Thor gets to.â She grinned at the idea, resisting the urge to clap. Layla only kept laughing as he spoke, âSaucy Dawsy!â She kept laughing for a few minutes before it faded a bit and she got comfortable watching the movie. After a little bit, she couldnât help but be enthralled by one of the kissing scenes. Once it ended, she bit her lip and turned to Dawson, âYou know howâŚyou said if I ever had any questions about anything, I could ask you? I mean- I just keep thinking about how I donâtâ I donât even know how toâŚkiss someone, you know? Never mind, I donât even know how youâd explain, oh god.â Her face went red and she turned back to the movie.
"I have an Xbox. The Panda one is a phone game though. So whenever you feel like saving all the baby pandas you can." He grinned, just amused by the conversation as a whole. He wasn't obsessed with video games like some guys were, he didn't spend weeks at a time doing nothing but playing them, but he did have a few games in particular he liked. So he figured it was just another thing he and Layla could do together if they ever didn't feel like just eating and talking like they usually did. "You never know. It comes in handy. Did nobody ever teach your to drive? But that's true, you might live forever since you walk every where." He nodded. "It might bring down the cool factor a little bit to not only have a side car, but a prissy fucking dog sitting in it, but I'll just have to deal with it." He laughed along with her. "Is that my new nickname?" He asked with a smirk, getting quiet he watched the movie with Layla, keeping his gaze on the screen until he heard her talk again. "Yeah?" He nodded, raising his eyebrows when he realized what she was asking. "I could show you.." He said hesitantly, not sure if Layla would even want to share her first kiss with him, but he figured she seemed comfortable enough around him, he might as well offer.
Food Heals All Wounds || Layla&Dawson
âDo they really have games like that? Iâve never heard of that before.â She laughed a bit; she didnât know that he was changing the choice of game for her benefit, but she didnât care either way. She was up for doing anything with him; she just loved to spend time with him and talk with him. He really was the best friend sheâd ever had. âBut I donât have that much self control, Dawson. I might just end up eating a whole cupcake for every assignment and Iâd be rolling everywhere afterward. Goodâ Wow. Good. I like it a lot, too.â Her cheeks went red and she looked down at her hands, trying to suppress the silly grin that was threatening to spread across her face. âThey look like so much fun! Do you have a helmet, though? Oh god- I mean- Why not? Thereâs a first time for everything.â The thought of riding one sort of scared her, but if there was anyone sheâd try it with, itâd be him. âGood, because I like it. Itâs so much fun to say, Dawsy.â She grinned, âThen I canât wait.â She said, setting her plate to the side and getting comfortable. She put her hands on her stomach and sighed, âI think I just might, oh god. My eyes are always bigger than my stomach.â She laughed, looking over at him.Â
"I have no idea. But I'll look into it for you. They have that Panda game where you have to save the babies for the Mom Panda from the baboons. Not that I play that because I'm too badass, but I know it's out there." He laughed. Dawson looked forward to any chance he got to spend time with Layla. Even if they always just seemed to sit around together and eat, he had fun every single time the hung out. "You walk a lot though, you'd probably burn it all off getting to class and back. Once you start driving though, then you might have to look into healthier rewards. Good." Dawson smiled when he noticed the grin on her face, trying his best to hide one of his own, but he knew it was no use around her. "I'll get one. I care about staying alive too much to ride around with out one. Yeah? That's awesome. We'll get a side car for Thor, it'll be great." He joked. "It makes me feel saucy. Because it rhymes." He glanced over at her, scooting himself a little bit closer while he watched the movie on the screen. "That's okay though. When you wake up you can just eat some more."
Food Heals All Wounds || Layla&Dawson
âOh godâ Well, maybe it is fun! Iâd love to play one day if we run out of things to watch. Iâm all for new games. Always.â She laughed with him, knowing very well that seh more than likely wouldnât approve of most of the things sheâd see in the game. Not that sheâd say anything out loud. If he wanted to play it, she would be more than welcome to try it. âI know, and youâre very good at it. Thatâs a really good idea. I need to just start making cupcakes or something and setting them across the table from myself and say I canât have one until Iâm done. Really? Well, good, because I really like doing it.â She grinned back at him and laughed a bit. âOoh, a motorcycle? Have you ever ridden one before? Are they scary? I bet thatâd be so much fun to fix up yourself.â She smiled as she spoke, thinking it was pretty cool he was able to take old things and turn them into new again. âIâm kinda partial to it, but Iâm trying for your sake.â She shook her head, âI have! Is the movie close to the book? Iâm so excited.â She beamed, turning the movie on before finishing up her food. âI think Iâm starting to feel that food coma you were talking about. Oh god.â
"If you wanna start playing video games with me I'll find something different that you might like better. Maybe something where we save puppies from burning buildings or something." He laughed, not wanting to completely scar Layla with such crass video game. "That seems a little too harsh, Layla. Maybe like a bite after every question. I bet you'll breeze right through them. Yeah, like I've gotten used to seeing you every morning by this point. And I like starting my day with hanging out with you." He smiled. "One of the guys I work with has one, I've tried his out a couple of times, it's pretty awesome. Once I get it all fixed up you can ride with me and find out for yourself." He smiled, not sure if Layla would actually be up to riding on the back of a motorcycle, but he figured he'd offer. "That's okay. I think Dawsy is about as good as you can get." He laughed. "They keep pretty close for it. And you know, anything with Leo Dicaprio in it is pretty great." He shrugged and placed his plate on the coffee table so he could get a little more comfortable. "Are you gonna pass out on me, Layla?"
Food Heals All Wounds || Layla&Dawson
âOh my god.â She laughed, âThatâs so violent, my goodness. Is it fun, though? I guess thereâs just a lot of violent video games, Iâve just never seen any of them. Did you steal your dream car?â She made another face and laughed slightly. Layla really was as innocent as someone could get, but not on purpose. She just wasnât exposed to a lot of things at the same time other people her age were. She didnât know anything about sex until she was introduced to public school, and even now she was still so clueless about all of it. âPerfect. Iâm glad youâre here to see me set new goals for myself, I really am. Oh god, really? Do you want me to cut back on the biscuits and gravy? Or is it the pancakes?â Layla moved so she was sitting Indian style with her plate in her lap and a smile still on her face. âDoes it happen often?â She smiled a bit; she always had the opportunity to leave work early, but she never took it for the fact all that was waiting for her at home was homework. She beamed when he said his nickname, âWhat? I promise Iâm trying to think of a better one!â She searched for a minute and wow what do you know they had the movie!! âIâve never seen it is, is it good? Iâve read the book a bajillion times, though.â She laughed a bit and scooted closer to him before working on her plate again.Â
"It's pretty terrible all the shit you can do on there, honestly. But yeah, it's pretty fun. And of course I did. But I wrecked it while getting chased by cops. So I had to steal another one that looked just like it." He laughed again, fully aware that the game just sounded more and more silly the more he talked about it. He was already sure Layla would be completely appalled if she ever sat to watch him play, so he figured he might as well prepare her for it. "Yeah, that's what I'm here for. You can use food comas to bribe yourself into doing homework too. Oh, it's all of it. But I don't want you to cut back. My mornings aren't complete with out it." He grinned, turning himself to face her a bit more, as she scooted closer to him. "It just depends, honestly. Somedays it's packed, some days nobody comes and we're just sitting around all day. I usually go and work on my own car if that happens. I found an older motorcycle I kind of like though, I'm thinking of getting it so I can fix it up." He grinned, rather excited for his new project. "I don't think there is a better one for my name. I'm just stuck being Dawson for the rest of my life." He shrugged. "It's pretty good. Have you? It's my favorite book too." He smiled.
Food Heals All Wounds || Layla&Dawson
Layla wondered what she had done to deserve Dawsonâs friendship. To think, only a few weeks ago, they were complete and utter strangersânow she was the one person in this world who could make her feel safe even in the darkest of times. Right now, the world terrified her, and all she wanted to do was be with Dawson. She knew heâd never let anything happen to her, and that was the most calming thought for her. Her eyebrows rose at his summary of the game, âOh my. I donât think so, either. Do you get in trouble for it?â She asked, taking a bite of her food as she looked at him with a genuinely curious expression. âThat sounds pretty great right now, honestly. Iâve been really lazy the past couple of days, but I havenât put myself into a food coma just yet.â She laughed when he grinned at her, already forgetting why she was even upset in the first place. He had that kind of effect on her. âThat makes sense. Itâs funny they donât make you guys do little things around the shop, though. I thought theyâd want to squeeze all the work out of you that they could.â She made a face and laughed a bit. âYou think so? I really hope so.â She grinned at him, finishing up the bite she had in her mouth before speaking. âWell you have very good taste, Dawsy.â She giggled at the nickname before taking one more bite and scrolling through Netflix. âWhat should we watch? Whatâs your favorite movie?â
Dawson thought quite a few times about what their friendship would be like if they started talking even sooner than they had. He figured they'd still be close friends, but just even closer than what they were now. Even if they were basically polar opposites appearance wise, they still some how meshed so well with one another, and Dawson didn't always have that with people. "If you do get in trouble, then you just beat up the cops or out run them. I just like the cars on it." He laughed, knowing the whole concept of the game was a bit ridiculous. He wasn't intensely into videos games like some guys were, but it was something to pass time every once in a while. "That can be your new goal then. Chinese food always does it for me. Your cooking does it for me too though. I think I'm gaining weight for probably the first time in my life." He joked, relaxing back into the couch a bit, as he rested his plate in his lap. "Some guys stay around to do it. My boss likes me though." Dawson shrugged. "Dawsy." He repeated, still finding the nickname amusing since he had never really had one besides what she had given him. "Whatever you want. Uhh..probably The Great Gatsby. The new one though, surprisingly. The old ones are just weird."
Food Heals All Wounds || Layla&Dawson
Layla was more than grateful to have Dawson in her life; he was the one person she could always turn to no matter what and not feel guilty for speaking about her problems to. For her entire life, sheâd always been the one to make sure everyone around her was okay, and never took the time to make sure that she was okay as well. But he was always making sure that she was okay; he was always reassuring her that everything was going to be okay and that everything would work out in the end. He made her feel like his words were real, that she wasnât weird and that she was smart and she was more than capable of achieving her dreams. He really was her motivator, and she loved him for it. âIs that a game? I think my brothers played it at a friendâs house once. Maybe. I have no idea.â She laughed, shaking her head because she really had no idea what she was talking about. She was grinning from ear to ear at the gesture; she really hadnât had anyone ever do something like this for her. âYes! I love Chinese food. And I love hanging out with you. So this is pretty darn great if you ask me.â She blushed slightly, but the smile remained on her face. Layla dished up her plate before tugging him over to the couch, âI think Netflix would go great with this.â She laughed a bit, grabbing the remote as she listened to him. âYou get to leave early? Youâre so lucky, oh god. I just went to class today. I wasnât feeling up to work so I called off and they were so nice about it, I felt bad saying I couldnât come.â She pouted a bit before digging into her food. âWhere do you find all of these delivery places?â
Dawson had never really had anyone to take care of before Layla had come into his life. He was always just looking out for himself, making sure he was okay, and that he could support himself. But now, he had been out on his own for a few years now, and he knew he was capable of that. He didn't have any issues taking care of himself, so it was kind of nice to have someone else in his life for a change. Layla just seemed so fresh and new to what the real world was like, and he got to help her through it all. "Yeah, it's a video game where you steal cars and do other illegal things. I don't know if it's something you'd like Ms. Layla." He laughed, as he piled the Chinese food onto his plate, grabbing himself a drink and a fork once he was all finished. "I think Chinese food can fix just about anything. Or at least it'll help you slip into a  food coma and not have to deal with shit for a few more hours." He grinned, and followed her over to the couch. "Sounds good to me." He smiled, as he took a bite from his food and nodded. "When it's dead. If nobody's coming we're not making money, so there's no point in being there." He shrugged. "You deserve a day off though, I'm sure they understand." He glanced down at his plate of food, before shrugging. "When you don't know how to cook you have to figure out an alternative." He laughed.
Food Heals All Wounds || Layla&Dawson
Just seeing him standing there with his messy hair and that bag full of food caused Layla to feel a hundred times better already, and he hadnât even said a word to her yet. He was one of the few people in the world that made her feel like a normal girl; he spoke to her like he would any other person, and he treated her like she wasnât completely naive and innocentâeven if she was. He was so kind to her from the moment that they met that she couldnât think of a better person to come in and cheer her up. She definitely would have loved some girl time with Tabby, but she didnât to bother her; she had her own stuff to worry about and Layla wasnât about to burden her with her issues. Dawson was her favorite person sheâd met in Birmingham, and she knew that. Every time they were together her heart fluttered and her stomach felt tingly, and she loved every second of it because sheâd never felt that way before. âOh god. Whatâs your record for longest couch sitting? I bet I beat you this weekend.â She bounced a bit on her heels when he told her his reasoning for bringing over the food and, not being able to contain her joy, she skipped towards him and wrapped her arms around his torso in a tight hug. âThank you so much. This is the sweetest thing anyoneâs ever done for me.â She pulled away to look up at him, âItâs the only thing, actually.â She let out a tiny laugh before going into the kitchen and grabbing them plates and forks so they could dig in. âDid you work today? How was it?â
Dawson loved Layla. While he didn't know if that love was just as a friend, or a lot more than that, he cared about her more than anyone else he had in his life. She was the first person he had opened himself up to in so long. He actually put forth the effort required to keep some type of close friendship going with her, and that was rare for him. Of course he had Trent and the other guys he worked with, but his relationship with all of them didn't even slightly compare to the one he had with Layla. He wanted to be with her every day. If they didn't have their morning breakfasts, then he felt like his day hadn't started off right, and if she didn't come by whenever he got off work, then his day hadn't ended properly. "When I first bought Grand Theft Auto probably like 15 hours." He laughed, watching as she bounced around the food, grateful it was something she ended liked in the first place. Of course, Layla wasn't exactly picky, he was sure even if he brought over something she hated, she was nice enough to force it down anyways. "Bringing you Chinese food is the nicest thing anybody's ever done for you?" He raised his eyebrows, before realizing she was actually serious. "Well I'm happy I could do it, Layla." He nodded, letting Layla get what she wanted before he started grabbing some of her own. "I did. It was completely dead, so I came home at like 3. What about you?"
Food Heals All Wounds || Layla&Dawson
Ever since the other night, Layla had been more on edge than ever. It was like she was home all over again. She just saw so much good in the world; she saw the outside world as this amazing place that could always put her in awe and always make her appreciate life, and then something like that had to happen. It made her wonder if there really was any good in the world like sheâd thought. There was fighting, drugs, alcohol, and creepy people like the one whoâd slipped something in her drink. She didnât know what to do with herself, so she ended up staying inside all weekend, which was very unlike her. She didnât like being too lazyâshe liked getting things done and being outside whenever she could, but she couldnât get herself to that weekend. She thought she was beginning to feel better, too, until her little episode after class earlier that day. She was so embarrassed, she was sure her face was still red even if it had happened hours ago. Layla was sat on the couch wrapped up in a blanket when she heard a knock at her door. She sprang up, knowing exactly who it was, and opened the door quickly with a smile. âThank you so much for coming, seriously.â She looked down at the big bag in his hand and grinned, âIs that food?â She stepped aside so he could come in.
Dawson knew fully well how innocent Layla was, and that was why he felt so bad about what happened. It was probably her first time going out to a bar or anything of the sort, and probably one of the worst things imaginable had to happen. Of course, it could have gone a lot worse had Trent and Tabby not found her at the right moment, because he couldn't even imagine what a wreck she might be if the guy would have gotten what he wanted. Plus, Dawson would have probably gone absolutely insane trying to find the guy just so he could get exactly what he deserved in return. Tonight though, his only focus was to help Layla relax, and hopefully put her mind a bit more at ease, since she still seemed to be so incredibly worked up over the entire situation. He gave her a small smile when he saw her come to the door, and nodded as he walked inside. "No problem. I was getting bored anyways. I don't think I've moved from my couch in like 6 hours." He laughed, and nodded. "Yup, every type of Chinese chicken you can think of." He grinned, holding the bag up before he set it on the counter, and started opening it all up since he hadn't eaten dinner yet. "This is my version of making up for all your breakfasts, since I can't cook worth a shit."
Food Heals All Wounds || Layla&Dawson
Since the incident, Dawson had been rather worried about Layla. He didn't know how much she remembered of the night, but he hoped it wasn't much. He hoped that her main memory from the night was just being home with him, safe and sound. He knew how scarring of an experience it could be for a person, and since Layla was already rather nervous about getting out into the college life, he didn't want her to be too afraid to do it for the entire time she was in school. He quickly ordered some Chinese food, for the both of them, the delivery guy showing up about 15 minutes later since he came to Dawson's place quite often.
