Canon Divergence:

After falling into the past and meeting her ancestors, King Rauru and Queen Sonia, Zelda takes the opportunity to learn about the founding of the Kingdom, who the Zonai were, and gets involved in the Imprisoning War legends in her time spoke of. Using what she has learned, including the control of her Time magic, Zelda sets up everything she needs to help Link in the future.

She is able to use her Time magic to move between the past and the present, to some extent. She is aware of her other presence in her Dragon form and cannot risk staying in the present for long, but works as quickly as she can to take an active role in helping Link. Because her dragon form plays such an important role in repairing the Master Sword, she knows she must eventually assume that form while in the past - she simply wants to ensure Link's success.

And if that means she may lose her memory of him, its something she's willing to do.

"But it's not enough." Her voice goes quiet with her insistence. "I failed this kingdom too many times, giving everything I have is what I have to do. How can I rest when there's still so much pain to heal?"

"—But you didn't fail. You saved us all, Princess, at great risk to yourself, you've continually placed the needs of Hyrule's denizens above your own. That's the mark of a great leader who loves her people. So you fell into a pit and were transported through time," he shrugs, "That could happen to anyone. And before that, you held back the greatest evil this world has known for one hundred years. I barely did anything."

"It was more than just falling into a pit," She countered, a slight pout on her lips. "If it hadn't been for my curiosity, we might not have awakened that man and caused all this."

She knew that wasn't entirely true - Rauru's magic still would have run out, Ganondorf would still have risen, chaos would still have engulfed their world. But maybe Zelda could have been there by Link's side to fight with him. There was little point arguing that.

What she could argue is Link's own contribution.

"You're such a hypocrite, Link - barely did anything. If you had not fought against the Calamity and freed both the Divine Beasts and the spirits of the Champions, I would have lost that battle."

looking at the thread with Link has me going 'forget serving from an empty vessel, you're running towards a BROKEN vessel, girl. an empty vessel you can refill, but a broken one is a whole different problem that's much harder to fix.'

But listen, Zelda is extremely self-sacrficing, more so than Link is. Twice she's literally sacrificed her own agency for her kingdom, and both times, she's never fully recovered from it (I give no fucks for totk's whole 'Zelda remembers nothing and has no consequences from being a dragon for literal millennia', this girl has trauma).

She knows it, too. She knows she's giving too much, breaking herself to do so, but its a habit she can't break on her own. To take this vessel analogy further, she will slowly heal and repair through friends like Link, the Sages, the children from Hateno. In the end, with enough help, she'll be more like a kintsugi-repaired vessel.

"I may struggle to sleep, but I don't not sleep." Except when her nightmares came at their worst, haunting her psyche when she's most vulnerable. "Link, I think I look lazy - there's so much work to be done, I can't rest."

"I must have really overdone it with my magic if I was asleep that long. Why did no one wake me?"

"My duty is to protect and take care of you, and you needed to rest."

"You don't have to be so duty bound that you can't wake me. Sleeping so much makes me look lazy."

Having the calamity sealed, Revali had already confessed his love to Princess Zelda. There was another thing he wanted to share with her. He met her on her balcony as he always did. The Princess was thrilled to see him. "There is something I wanted to give you." Zelda looked puzzled at him. Revali unfolded a shining gold feather in a cloth. "This used to belong to my mother. It was given to her from my father." Revali took a deep breath. "I.. want you to have it." He turned away in embarrassment. "WHAT AM I DOING?!" He shouted in his mind.

"Revali.... are you?" Before Zelda could finish, she looked at the feather so tenderly. With all the flustered emotions of the world, Revali was about to burst. "Marry me." He sincerely looked into her eyes. With the gold feather in her hand, she placed her hand over her mouth. Zelda's eyes watered. "Yes!"

Revali shocked but then tried to calm himself. "You mean it?" She held the feather in her hand. "Of course I do." She jumped and hugged him. Revali blushed. They held on to each other, feeling each other's heartbeat.

Time after they got married, Revali got the golden feather tinkered with and made it a bracelet for Zelda. The sun was about to rise. "Sleep little wing, It's too early." Zelda sighed in happiness. "I love that you're the first one I see when I awake and sleep." Revali chuckled, thinking the same. He held her close.

"I love you."

"I love you too." Zelda said softly.

The two embraced their new life together.

ooc ; I probably won't add much of the story from AoI into this blog, but the actual battle and magic training from it will be worked in because yes, give me any excuse to have Zelda fight instead of being the passive damsel Nintendo keeps shunting her down to.

Day 22 - Snow/Cold/Frozen

He finds himself caught off guard at the princess' words of concern. They're not necessary, of course; he's got feathers of his own to keep him warm, and the heir to Hyrule's throne wasn't going to freeze over on his watch.

Still, no one ever worries for his wellbeing this way - they simply assume that, for all his capabilities, he's got things covered...

Oof, fell behind even further on this one cause I got immensely carried away doodling these two.

I'm determined to stay sort of on top of these though, so who's feeling two posts tomorrow? ✋🏻😌
