omg never post with a fever lol. where was my filter last night
there's a post going around saying the reaction to large breasts is akin to fat shaming and the reaction to small breasts is akin to skinny shaming in their amplitude and relation to misogyny, and I just cannotttt get behind that. By all means discuss the misogynistic sexualisation of large breasts, but the societal reaction to flat-chestedness is also misogynystic, there's a reason why so many women get augmentations. people picture a modelesque figure with a narrow ribcage and aesthetically rounded small breasts but thats not a case for many, and besides there are fat people with small breasts and skinny people with large breasts
if Jamie Lloyd Passion goes straight to broadway im going to be very disappointed. I will miss having the privilege of being the first to see his new slop
I have the flu only two weeks after getting over a bad cold 😑 who even gets the flu in June???? happy pride 😔
watched wuthering heights 2011 👍 good movie for people who like five or six thousand interstitial static shots of nature, constant shaky cam, repetitive flashbacks, staring into space, and speaking in monotone
I really dislike when gritty historical films have the characters barely ever speak and spend most of their time staring blankly into space. it makes me feel so detached from the characters and their emotions. I felt absolutely nothing from the objectively well acted performances in this, and in contrast I did cry a tiny little bit at Jacob elordi at the end of the other one SORry it's embarrassing but true. and the other one really sucked. but it made me feel something

I still stan emerald fennell btw. every discussion of her makes me so irritated I can't even read online reviews of the movie. I just saw someone say she's making fetish films which violate the consent of the audience who didn't consent to participating in her fetish. ??? all of film history is full of men objectifying women, objectifying underage girls, filming unsafe and unconsensual sex scenes for "artistic value", not to mention Tarantino's nasty foot fetish, but emerald fennell is where you draw the line???
has there ever been a nice Cathy in classic literature or all they all sociopaths
I also don't fully understand what wuthering heights was trying to say about bdsm. Overall it seems to equate it with passion; Cathy's sexual awakening was being a voyeur to bondage and then heathcliff putting his hand over her mouth, and she later tried to replicate that with Linton. But when Cathy and Heathcliff actually have sex it's always entirely vanilla. Even when they're talking about bdsm they still have vanilla sex, meanwhile heathcliff engages in actual bdsm with Isabella. Is the implication then that bdsm is just a pretence of passion for people play-acting at being bad, but when it comes to actual love, vanilla sex ends up being the most passionate? Or was the film just afraid to actually go there bdsm wise with Cathy and heathcliff lest it seem too toxic, or worse, cringe?
the scene where heathcliff repeatedly asks Isabella for consent was so funny though. he would NOT say that
When it took itself and its emotions seriously it was decent (like the ending sequence), but it just confused itself in trying to be weird. Some bdsm makes sense but the puppy play thing was cringe. making the lintons so strange and quirky really took me out of it and made heathcliff seem too normal in comparison. I found a lot of the costumes visually distracting. Jacob elordi was pretty good. Margot Robbie was overall bad, she played it much more camp than anyone else and her modern makeup made her almost cartoonish. I like the idea of including nelly's moral ambiguity especially as a Romeo and Juliet parallel but she was too underwritten to care about. The screenplay felt very uneven and it was hard to get a sense of characters motivations sometimes. I did like how unabashedly horny it was. I think they should have made heathcliff kill the dog
me halfway through wuthering heights:
finally watched wuthering heights 😵💫
I'm so woke(tm) and feminist pilled that I unapologetically stan cathy ames. she burned her house down with her parents in it? sometimes tough decisions have to be made. she shot adam in the shoulder and walked out on him? we need more deadbeat mom representation. cathy is the icon, the moment, the queen. you can never make me hate her.
"Dear," she said softly, "I didn't know you would take it so. I'm sorry, Adam."
